    I'd love to see a series of videos about how you guys raise up an apprentice boot maker in these shops. Like, the value of seeing these workers is huge. How does someone just walk in the door out of high school or whatever and learn how to welt and sole and stitch. I wanna hear all these stories form those who've pinned their star to Nicks boots, small handmade northwest niche boot makers. It's so cool.

    Casual viewer here ... Came here after watching Trenton and Heath..Questions after seeing this video i more puzzled than ever...
    1) why do you stitch through the sole. Would those stitching wear over time.. from abration or impact
    2) why do you screw the boots. Screws are normally placed on items of rigid structures to keep things in place. The entire sole is malleable wouldn't the be contrary to why you would put screws. How would the soles catch the treading over time?

    I got a notification this week that my pair of nicks are starting to be made. This is my second pair but first as part of the Trades program! It would be amazing to see those being built.

    When the petroleum stops flowing, when the EMP kills the engine, when your horse dies, when you have to travel rough terrain back to safety, you might consider that $600 was the best money you ever spent.

    I have a pair of Red wing Logger Max Style #2219. And I had them for year’sssssss. Yes I had them for a while and replaced the bottom every year for supreme grip. I worked in Sanitation for well over 10 years in every weather condition, you name it. My redwings held strong, and still telling old man winter bring it on, that’s all you got. Money don’t buy comfort. I dropped $365. I’m sure these boot kick ?$$.

    Wearing my Nicks boots now, breaking them in. 40 hours in and I have barely creased them, still very tough. But I love them. You guys are really amazing craftsman. I have a pair of Crown Northhampton “fancy pants” cordovan shoes, and your boots have better craftsmanship than the UK. So go America!

    I know absolutely nothing about making a boot or refurbishing a pair, but grin what I've watched on this and a number of other channels, making a new pair appears to be easier and faster than completely redoing a pair. Is that a valid statement? If not, why?
    Thanks so much and I'm going to order my first pair of Nick's soon, but need a bit of help from a customer service person. Is there a special phone number to call for help??

    As the sole seems to be sewn on what happens when the white thread wears through as it seems to sit proud of thread. Is it just for looks or does it serve a purpose?

    • @nicksboots
      @nicksboots  Рік тому +1

      The stitch wears away on the bottom and has no effect on the structure of the boot, the stitch is held together internally. The purpose is just another layer of toughness, our more style and heritage boots are not stitch-through

    No padding at all ? those are going to be uncomfortable. Theres no such thing as breaking in boots, there is nothing inside to protect your heel, calf or shin. very painful i bet

    • @nicksboots
      @nicksboots  Рік тому +1

      There will be some discomfort while working on breaking them in, however, I'm currently typing this in fully broken in work boots that are more comfortable than any other pair of shoes I've owned, take that as you will and have a great day!

    • @MaxwellPowers666
      @MaxwellPowers666 Рік тому +1

      I just got my pair and they're pretty comfortable right out of the box. Seems counter intuitive that a shoe without synthetic padding would be comfortable but they really are. Especially when broken in. They feel like slippers. If they were not comfortable this company would not be in business since 1964!
