ATTENTION, theres a weak bracket on diff, that will need beefing up before burnouts, it's bolted on top of diff and stop iff twisting forward and backwards under load held to body by only one bolts, i broke mine by only one wheel spin leaving a petrol station and that was with a standard engine, its a metal bracket 2 feet long on diff boltts above end of diff near prop, hope thst helps
I love the lack of filler. You guys put in a ton of work and each episode is a lot more progress. I appreciate your hooptieness as it picks up where your snobby friend has left us ;)
I was recommended your channel from another UA-camr when you lost your job. I've had the same happen to me only mine wasn't pretty. I really felt the need to try and help any way I could and I couldn't be happier that I subscribed. The content is awesome and it's delivered without any profanity or drama and I appreciate that. Your parents taught you well. 👍🙏
hey john the issue with the Holley turning off is just something they do. you can get a battery backup for it. that will stop it from shutting it off. cletus did that on Leroy a while back
Got so excited when this video popped up. New fan here from 🇬🇧 catching up with all your content, I honestly can’t understand how you can manage so many projects at once, it sets my anxiety off just thinking about it. Can’t wait to see the R8 finished.
I never remember a persons sub count when I joined, just the video that attracted me to them. In this case the one where his Range Rover (and him) appeared on Hoovies channel and I subbed straight after that.
Thank you for working on fixing the clipping. It may not be obvious for mobile users but I watch UA-cam in my home theater and it's realllly annoying. :)
Your comment about the audio clipping issues - I can relate! Good audio is tough to get when doing garage/engine stuff. I struggle with it constantly! Your audio isn’t bad though - can’t wait to hear about your new gear.
@ WatchJRGo about the holley dash and reboot every time you start ask cleetus he had it too... if i remember correctly you have to put some sort of condensator in there as a buffer
Water temp sensors (any fluid temp sensor actually) doesn’t measure AIR temperature, so if you have an air bubble in the cooling system the temp will drop giving you a false positive, which is likely what you experienced with 250 F plus and then the temp dropping. Always burp your cooling system, raise the front of the car so the radiator cap is the highest point, install a bleed screw/bolt in any point of the system and have a general idea of how much water the system holds. Oh, and anti-freeze isn’t very good at cooling, it’s good at not freezing. Straight water and Water Wetter or similar except in winter! Just a bit of science for your late night pleasure!
Man it's great to see this project getting finished! It feels like just yesterday that you uploaded the first video with the car and now here it is running and driving! Can't wait to see more with it!
The Holly dash is supposed to go off when you start the vehicle. Watch some of Cleetus videos in Leroy and Neighbor. Touch screen radios do that too with a key cycle.
Well done to you all. It's plain to see that the "engine" was the easy part ! I think the electrical work has been the most complex and challenging and very soon you really will be "SMOKIN' " ! Will you continue to use the tyres fitted when you do the burnouts or will slicks go on the rear? Congratulations!
Thumbs up!! That open header sound with dangerously inadequate brakes brings back memories. In the 80's I was in 8th grade and got a 1948 ford F1. It weighed almost nothing because I'd taken the doghouse and bed off. Then I stole the 429/c6 from my mom's station wagon, fabricated engine and transmission mounts and pinched off the passenger side front brake line that had broken so I had three working drum brakes. I'd drive it a block over to the baseball diamond, do burnouts up and down that road and race it home before the cops came. The.next year I hit H.S. and had other priorities.
Hi there,I hope you know that a rolls royce uses 2 pumps to make the hydraulic brakes work, when you remove the pumps all you are left with is a really small crappy brake cylinder that is there or for feel than actual braking. YOU will have to find a place to install a real master cylinder and a remote servo and convert everything to either get rid of the RR363 fluid, or convert the calipers to run on Dot3,SWAPPING in the LS was the easy part of the conversion, the hydro is where the details will be,Good luck .
Hoovie busting your chops when he's got a garage full of hoopties 🤣 Anyway, Harbor Freightt has a 90 day return policy and that light has 4.5 stars on their website, you may have a dud, my Harbor Freight has been pretty good to me with returns/exchanges in the past, it can't hurt to ask. In the meantime I'll keep my fingers crossed that Milwaukee sponsors your vids in the future. Can't wait to see this thing finished!
The problem with that HBF light you have is that it is missing the resistors to control the current. I spent 5 years as a lighting engineer and we looked at a lot of the different crap out there. Most don't add the resistors on the boards to control the current. That is how they can cut costs. Using crappy drivers to power the LEDs is the biggest way how they cut costs.
Obviously, JR is a techno/electro wizard. Do ya think he can figure out how to disconnect that annoying af door buzzer? Why is that thing still working???
about the dash shutting down and rebooting , think cleetus had the same problem , turned out to be the starkey , when you start it removes the power from the constant (switched plus) to save power for starting , think they needed to change to a different switched constant wire on the startswitch edit , just remembered , cleetus added a small batterypack to the system (the one in leroy) , think it was a stock holley add on but i cannot find it online
I wish i lived in your neighborhood. Must be nice to have gear-head friends within walking distance. And to see a roller with a cammed v8 rollin by? Hell yeah!
If your purpose with spraying the cleaner into the Volt engine is to clean out carbon build up just be advised that on a direct injection engine this process does nothing for clearing carbon buildup on the back side of the valves. Modern DI engines still have the PCV system that feeds oily vapors into the intake which then passes through intake valve opening. However combustion heat cooks some of the oil deposits onto the back side of the valve. With DI there is no gas mixture washing those valves so you will get carbonized build ups. All Manufacturers have the issue and you can Google it or You Tube the subject for more details. One of the best preventative things you can do is put an oil catch can in line with the PCV hose to catch most of the actual oil. Then at every oil change you clean out the catch can.
The was a "test flight" & there is no shame in that. Awesome job so far! It ran around the block successfully. It reminded me of the great Spruce Goose's 1st & only 1 mile fight, except the Rolls will return again!
I think the audio in all your videos sounds great. I can always hear everything perfectly. Maybe you can help Tyler with his audio. The louder the better. 👍🏻
It's not that the volume is loud but that it's inconsistent. He's soft spoken at times so when anything loud happens in the same scene, the volume goes all over from the clipping.
If you have enough wood left from the hole you cut in the dash, I would use that to make a border for the display. The way it stands out now is harsh on my eyes. ;)
it looks horrible indeed. Even some matching veneer or at least vinyl fake wood put on would be nice. Doubting it's going to happen on this very channel tho...
That's one beautiful made car considering it's so old. Remind me of the Mercedes Pullman. I wouldn't mind having one of these as a classic. Looks good to me
Great build! Too bad you locked up the diff. You lost heaps of drivability and tyre wear just for 20 seconds of rubber smoke? Otherwise a fantastic job!!!!
First Rolls ever to sound identical to my John Deere Tractor!!!!..yeah!!!!!
You know me, everything need's to sound like my tractor 🚜
Literally
Tyler: “This is better than a Rolls-Royce engine?”
I’m dead 😂
Connor Cook lol yeaaa him and LS engines dont get along!
he said "so, this is better than a RR engine?" being sarcastic. (yep my bad Edited)
I love that Hoovie legit thinks JR is a fraud.
@@metromusic5725 at least Tyler isnt pretentious, not saying John is doing a bad job just wish this was a bit more than a vlog.
That RR engine is is a well sorted pile of English shite.
WatchJRGo logic:
Rolls Royce LS swap : two weeks... done!
Audi engine 1/1 swap: two years......... not yet
RegularEverydayNormalGuy Audi$ cost less to operate sitting!
Tyler seems like he's a damn good friend! I'd imagine y'all are fairly nervous at this point. Everyone on here is pulling for you!
Man that door buzzer is actually really annoying 😂
He needs to upgrade it to the voice of a Chrysler LeBaron: "The Door is Ajar".
C H or Toto Africa like someone had on a Volvo , very unique
Told him in the last video to cut the wire
They all were a long monotonous beep back in the day. No matter the car just a little variance
Richard North
That would be really annoying!
:0)
I commented last video about an inline capacitor that goes on the Holley dash. Cleetus had a video on it a while back. It keeps power during crank.
I went and read all that, I'll have to pull it back out and add a few caps after the event. Seems like it starts reliably after we updated the tune 🍻

Make replacement of the harmonic balancer the very next thing you do after the exhaust shop.
Feel like I'm watching the maiden voyage of the local neighborhood Sherman Tank!!
His neighbours must have some patience.

Well said. I can't say enough good things about JR and this channel.
The man who surrounds himself with geniune friends is both lucky and rich.
It’s awesome seeing how this car came from surging and barely making it home after dark to this point. Congrats on all the hard work man!
I cannot believe what a great job you guys have done, I can just see a deluge of orders from people wanting their RR LS swapped.
You can actually feel the excitement of John in this video. Like a giddy teenager. Awesome job
You and Cleetus are my top 2 favorite UA-camrs! Keep up the good work man!
JR you and all your friends are awesome! You could have your own reality TV show.
This week on "This Old Car".
Have to wear a sports jacket when driving the rolls 😂😂😂

Great to see it driving... 254 is scary... And wow Josh was an animal loading that car, love how he just jumps in and gets stuff done!👍

Buys a new truck to pull the roll, promptly borrows buddies rig

This has been an absolute treat watching you guys build this. Thank you!
Great to see Tyler! You Kansas boys have a cool scene happening! Glad it's kinda running!
I live in New York.... I feel way too invested in this project with zero chance of ever actually see it
I live in the UK, your point is?
blackcountryme you’re the man!
I’ll bet that tree keeps backing up interesting in Josh’s driveway.
Big MT That tree he had to move around to miss ...had body shop waiting to happen!
Didn’t you get the titan to pull the car? 😂
Yes but it's getting upgraded 😂
There's a red jag v12 in Wichita for sale, XJS, would go nicely with an LS swap!

Cleetus McFarland had the same Holley screen rebooting issue on Leroy. He came up with a fix for it. Don't remember what it was.

There will always be a place for internal combustion engines when they sound like that
Was about to go to sleep then this dropped. Thanks JR, gonna go to work sleepy tomorrow.
Starting to think Wizard got the better part of the deal. Wonder when he's starting his build?
I am so addicted to watching this build. Im going to be sad when it's over. When is the next post!!!?
The R8 was your worst purchase EVER made! Congrats on the Rolls rolling!
lolllll the r8 just holding the house down bro
How much for a house weight. I am afraid my house floating up or being stolen.
Cleetus had the same problem with his Holley EFI he had to buy another piece from them to stop it.
Jr there is no big issues with your audio that I can tell.! An congratulations on rolls smoke running
Never noticed a problem with clipping? Awesome to see the Rolls moving under her own power, cannot wait to see the exhaust! Great video

Going over the top for cooling is a must ,having manual control over cooling fans for 'hot' days...!!
The problem with that HBF light you have is that it is missing the resistors to control the current. I spent 5 years as a lighting engineer and we looked at a lot of the different crap out there.
