- After seeing this $5 product promoted to me constantly on Temu, I decided to buy it to see how realistic the photos were.

I like the design, the half number, half dot. And as a clock maker myself, I am happy to see that there is a product out there that encourages people to make their own clock. You just learned the very basics of hand assembly.
The letters vs dots makes it look so wonky and misshapen. That would drive me CRAZY.
Right? Just make those dots too!
That's my thought as well.
OCD, huh?🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Then don’t buy it. They probably have hundreds of clocks to choose from. The mechanism itself is worth $5 with free shipping.
Me too! I wouldn't have gotten a clock like that even if it had been free.
I will say, as an avid crafter, this is a great template to create these clocks on my own 🙂
Yea really. DIY will always be on top
Absolutely. Clock mechanisms identical to that are cheap at craft stores. I’ve paid as little as $3.00 for a mechanism that’s still keeping reasonable time a decade later. The key is to keep the hands as light as physically possible. Stamped copper foil with a crease in it is straight and stable, and weighs next to nothing, but ages a treat. Mechanisms made to use heavier hands are easily available online.
Yes, the same with me. I actually have the plain center clock part bought from a craft store. I can buy glow in the dark vinyl or paints online and create the number markers in any design I want ea just speak design or plain bars and also make the clock much larger. It would be nice in the children's room.
I was thinking the same think - I could make a better one of these with pretty minimal cost and effort. But I think their product looks decent, although the amount of glow time seems low.
@@1lmp1 how cute would this clock be in a kids room, the design possibilities are endless 🙂
Another terrific review... I remember back in the late 50s and early 60s this style of clock in stainless steel used to be all the rage as a style statement as part of the mid-century style trend right up there with Formica tables with stainless steel edging and legs. They were always seen in banks and fancy office buildings. I think it was because there was no such thing as a battery-driven clock mechanism and it was a lot of work and expense to bury the clockworks in the wall.
You can still make one. The clock motor and hands are just a clock kit. You could make the numbers out of anything you wanted. Photos of pets, zoo animals, product logos, foods, sports cards with different player numbers for the digits, letters and numbers for a preschool classroom or something, just any number of things. It doesn't have to be what they advertise. It can be a lot more. The neat thing is the low cost.
@@LatitudeSky Yes, basically you are paying for the surface mounting housing for the clockwork which if you had the experience and a 3D printer would not be an issue. I have made clocks out of all sorts of things using clockwork kits I have bought on eBay. Thank you for sharing.
I own a midmod home built in ‘59. In the dining room I have a built-in electric clock in the back side of the stove/cabinets unit. Cool! I love the look of this temu clock but would much prefer the stainless! Bet James could use stainless steel contact paper and an exacto knife to cover over the numbers and letters for a cheap and easy upgrade.
@@lesliebooth2833 When I grew up there were two banks in my town, one built in the early 50s but very post-WWII, and one built in the 50s and looking all the part of the coming space age with fin styling and all. I remember this sort of clock built into the wall with the "look."
@@superbmediacontentcreator they had battery operated clocks in the 50s but the one in the bank was for sure grid powered. Only difficulty would have been getting a power wire to it but they probably planned for that during construction. Otherwise the mechanism in the wall was nothing more then a little electric motor and gear box only a little larger than the clock mechanism in the video. I've actually pulled a couple of them off the wall doing remodels in "outdated" office buildings
We need more temu reviews on the more unbelievable ones
Yes!
Nice. I've been seeing these temu ads all the time and I've been waiting on something on the more unbelievable ones.
I look forward to a review for a 2 dollar toaster that detonates when powered on
This clock seems like it would be a lot of fun as an art project. Keep in mind most analog wall clocks can’t be seen in the dark anyway.
Yeah that latter point occurred to me too.
Also keep in mind that most people today could not tell time on an analog clock anyways..😂
@@RalphJBater OMG I find it so unbelievable that people really don't know how to tell time on a non digital clock. LOL Just like kids today can't read cursive.
You could buy an LED light to shine on it if you needed it lit. I was thinking I'd like it better in black rather than glow in the dark green.
If you want it to glow indefinitely, install some UV LEDs. They're not visible to the naked eye, but the fluorescent material will absorb the UV and glow in visible light.
I had the same thought. Some kind of UV spotlight pointed at it like a projector. Also use all numbers or all words.
I am soooo tempted but just sitting by waiting on positive reviews. Thanks for doing these!
I’ve just started ordering from them, it’s hit or miss. Something’s are so well made others aren’t but for the price and free shipping I’m happy.
Got the same one. Exactly. You can keep better time looking at the sky.
Wooden ball from temu
I would (for daytime visibility) outline the glowey bits with a sharpie. It would make it look pretty good I think
Saw this in my Temu feed and was tempted to try it! So glad you did so I don’t have to now. Great review!
Love your videos! You do a great job reviewing! I haven't checked out Temu, but I'll have to sometime just to see it for myself. The clock would be a fail for me even if it worked. Who would want a big clock on their wall, any wall?? Not me. lol!
Appreciate the upload. 👍
I have had a similar one on the wall from eBay for over two years. Works as advertised and looks great.
Love this topic, hope to see alot more of these
Oh YES!! My guy is trying Temu ! I been so curious about them...get ads for the app all time but was too skeptical to take the risk. Glad we have u to get the scoop for us lol
It's a decent deal. Those clock movements are around $10-12 at craft stores. The stickers are just a cheap throw in.
Craft stores are so overpriced it sucks because I love them but they're eventually going to bankrupt themselves. Walmart takes away business from them for all of the basics at better prices. They need to find more ways to compete. Clock mechanisms are very cheap on eBay they're all basically the same thing from China anyway but now on a lot of stuff it's located in the US you don't have to wait a month to get a gift from a friend in China...

As much as I dislike them Hobby Lobby has been smart in carrying stuff like anime model kits.
I JUST SUBSCRIBED, I HAVE WATCHED YOU VIDEOS FOR A WHILE NOW, YOU GIVE GREAT INFORMATION ON THE PRODUCTS, AND SAVE PEOPLE FROM MAKING A COSTLY DECISION ON PRODUCTS, THE PART I FIND INTERESTING IS HOW BAD SOME OF THE PRODUCTS YOU REVIEW ACTUALLY ARE, AND HOW I SEE THEM STILL ADVERTISED, GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEOS AND A REAL REVIEW ON PRODUCTS
Just saw this was freshly uploaded. SWEET!
I've been pleasantly surprised was some things by AliExpress I don't know if I want to go down the Temu road
Hey my tweet about the clock is in the video. That's awesome. Great video!
Nice meticulous installation, great evaluation of the glow. Either way it is a fun mid-century throwback.
The clock body and hands is similar to one that I installed for my mom using a plaque for the clock face. I have seen the battery powered clock body sold for hobby folks doing something similar in the $5-$10 range. The glow in the dark letters and numbers could be replaced with something else.
I actually like the design LOL. Guess I like the funky asymmetric look.
Thanks for reviewing these Temu products. I haven't ordered anything from that site yet.
Don't bother. Cheap sh*t, made cheaply by people who work in sweatshops and get very poor wages.
@@DrummerGrrrl Thank you, I won't order from them.
For fun, I would apply the clock to a plaque or wrapped canvas that's painted black which would make the number show up better and the black casing blend into the dark surface. Then you could change locations easily if you wanted to.
Thanks a lot for the video, I was able to fix mine and it is beautiful ❤
Try hitting it with a blacklight for a couple of hours to see if the glow is any stronger/longer.
I've ordered from Temu a couple of times. So far, I've been pretty pleased with everything! In fact, I ordered some backpacks back in January that I'm really impressed with! I looked up the brand after getting them--I got a very good deal on them! I have a couple orders on the way. Hopefully, everything will be just as good as the first couple were!
I would probably buy just bcoz it looks cool. Thank you for the reviews 😀
I saw this on Temu. Thanks for the review.
This guy keeps me so calm
That kit might not be bad if a person made a frame ot shallow box, with some soft glow lighting in the sides.
Thank you for your videos.
My sister got one of these a month or so ago. It performed about like yours did. She got a couple of ckassic elecric daylight bulbs and they worjed much better. When usung sunlight it was 8 hours to get 2 at night.
At least we know they couldn't possibly have used luminous radium paint as they did on clocks in the 50s. The glow would be a lot brighter if they had done so.
I bought a good one like this one on Amazon. The numbers are big and black. I get a lot of compliments on mine. I think I paid about $35 for mine, and it’s worth every penny.
I would love to see another collection video from temu products like the broom and bristol cleaning dust pan and the wireless earbuds, etc..
From your review of 10 items from Temu, I decided to look them over, and I joined so I could order. I ordered 3 different types of battery operated 365nm LW UV lights, all very cheap, a total of 12 of them, and they arrived a few days later. All but one works fine, one would not stay on, switch messed up, so I notified them of the problem and they quickly gave me a refund! I was surprised at that. I now have ordered a few other types of cheap items from them and am waiting on them to arrive. Other than finding repetitive ads for the same items over and over again, I like their website and ordering method. AND no shipping costs! I find that both Amazon and eBay often rip the buyer off with way too high shipping for cheap items. In fact many eBay sellers list an item cheap....say for $3, then want $12 shipping. That is definitely a rip off! I will never order anything expensive off of Temu tho, just because I can find it elsewhere cheaper!
Thank you!
Haven't watched the whole video yet but I love the what you see vs what you get theme.
I had one, loved it, worked great and was a great feature for years. For £5 really you can't ask for much more.
You saved a lot of people Money - Thank You.
Nice. Gotta watch it now.
Please more of these although I think I know ordering from here will be like ordering from any other site of this type 🙂🤣
I just did a good size Temu order. 7 items in total for under $25. 2 items were bad. One was a frying pan with built-in egg rings. Don't believe the dimensions listed. The pan is smaller. So much so that I wouldn't be able to use it. The other item was a wooden, phallus shaped tray we were intending to give as a gag gift. Again, much smaller than the listed dimensions. Their return process was weird. I started to return the pan and tray, and they wanted me to send both back (free returns). Before I hit enter, my wife decided not to return the tray. I started over with just the pan. They refunded my money but said to keep the pan. Maybe it's the total $$ of the return that triggers the need to actually send the items back? I donated the pan to Goodwill. Pretty good experience overall. We'll see how the products we kept stand up to daily use.
..who knew one could do such an in-depth review of a clock
James. Love your dog hair shirt😂
I've been getting ads for a projector, and finally bought it and I'm waiting for it to arrive
Another great review! I have a request if I may. Battery Daddy/Battery Organizers, there are just so many I don't know which one to choose and are some really fire proof? Please help. :)
I found a egg stacker for the door of your refrigerator. It was plastic but it wasn’t smooth it was jerky. I found out today that there selling more then Amazon and Walmart. I was shocked. Some is good and some cheap. It looks like 2 different clocks mashed together😂
I've ordered from temu four times and have not been disappointed.
I think it would look great in a shadow box with a blacklight and a nice matching background!
This was a fun one
Honestly, more impressed with your camera able to capture dark scenes at all!
The biggest problem with temu is the photos always make the products look bigger than they really are. Most of the products l got were smaller than l thought they were going to be. Even if they give the measurements it's still hard to visualize the actual product because the perspective of the picture is usually off, making the product look bigger than actual size in relation to other objects in the picture.
I'm sorry to hear that. I suggest you ask customer service about the size of your product before purchasing. If the size of the product you purchased does not meet your expectations, you can also try to refund it.
I had a gold number set BUT ordered just black numbers and put them alongside the gold numbers. MUCH better, both day and in low light.
Ngl that dude idea to stick the clock on that landscape picture was an AMAZING idea! Like instantly turn a generic dark landscape painting into a glowing clock...thats def worth $5 to me
Love your channel! Do Ninja Possible cooker Pro asap please! It looks great, but need a thorough review, and I only trust you!
This reminds me of the cheap eBay pocket watch that I mainly picked up because it included a chain and fob, and was cheaper to get rather than picking up a chain and fob separately. It had a mix of Arabic and Roman numerals instead, but same ridiculous sort of issue.
The combo of letters, numbers, and dots to represent the clock would drive me batty.
Yes, actually, most of the stuff I ordered was better than I expected. I did pass on some of the products, as I won't buy electronic devices or tools, for instance. Look at the actual measurements....not the photo. They just stick the product in there. I bought a heated electric blanket. the price should have clued me in. It showed a woman lounging on a couch covered in a blanket. I saw the pic and ordered it. Well, my chihuahua now has his own electric blanket. It was less than three foot square. Yes, it heated. I'm a little more cautious now! When I looked back, the measurements were on it but the pictures were VERY misleading. However, the kitchen and beauty items, as well as pet items, were of very good quality. The pet coat was MUCH better than I expected for the money!
Glow in the dark paints are available online that might help. Many of us curious and hearing about it over n over. Have you ever done Alibaba? Thanks for all your work! 🙏🏻❤️
The goatee is looking nice!
Honestly, been getting a lot of ads from them lately, and been waiting for your next video to ask for such a review.
I've been wondering about Temu. You can't watch a video without seeing an ad for Temu!
seems like this would work best in a room with a blacklight, for a cool neon look.
I ordered 2 wigs and some sticker backslash "tiles" for the kitchen. I'll keep you updated!
It would probably be perfect like that one picture of it on a painting/picture.
You could always cut dots from the one, two, four, and five to match the other dots, discarding the spell-outs.
Would you please consider testing long arm power scrubbers for bathroom showers? I need to buy one for my elderly Mother. Thanks for all the reviews!
I could see ways to improve this like outlineing stuff in black, so it can be read in daylight
It would have looked really cool in that painting/art you have
the clock looks great on the wall james white it can tell time and glows in the dark.
How does the hands motor attach to the wall? Double side tape?
More Temu please! I tried them after your last Temu video and overall had a good experience. For a specific product I'd like to see you review the shoe insoles advertised as, "That stepping on shit feeling" 😂 Also I'm really curious about knockoff transformer toys that have the actual transformers packaging in the listing except the logo is edited to not be readable. I'm dying to know what you'd actually get much like the clock in this video
Those insoles cracked me up too.
I'm confused, is stepping on shit supposed to be a good feeling? I wouldn't consider that a positive.
👑😎🤘My man looking at handsome as always.
If the clock mechanism had some blacklight or UV light to keep the numbers working, it might have been a nice idea.
What if paired with a UV/Blacklight aimed towards it?
I frequently order off Amazon and 8 times out of 10 i usually get what the description says. I mean yes it is a risk when purchasing online esepcially with products you could normally get just in store. With other sites it's been hit or miss. I ordered a Michael Jordan jersey off this one website that came up on my social media feed. I compared it to the other replica basketball jerseys and for the most part, representation is decsent i just have to see how it does over a long period of time.
Amazon seems to be a lot more trusted than Temu, though.
The prices change depending upon how you get to the sites. They will go back down if you go back to the source of the lower price. I've been very satisfied with my few purchases. Especially the cool Lenovo earbuds in the little box. Awsome sound and seems to never need charging.
Have you noticed any problems arising from app permissions, like an increase in spam phone calls or emails?
There are a few things I would like to get from the site but not at the cost of eternal irritation lol
best thing about Temu if you get something that is damaged like the usb c cable I just got they give you your money back and you get to keep it plus extra money too, I used that money and bought some 6 ft usb c to usb c cables
i have this same clock but not glow in the dark, its pretty cool
Would like to see more reviews from this site! Been seeing them a lot on Facebook but figured it was just like wish. Curious is two shipping cost and timeframe etc.?
At this time, all shipping appears to be free. I expect that might change when they feel enough people are hooked by the fun of browsing Temu. My two orders came exactly when projected.
Throw the clock up in a teens room with a black light and you'll be set. In the mean time, try putting a black light (Fluorescent kind) shining toward it.
Thanks for sharing. I had considered ordering this clock, but I didn't trust the photos, and I *hated* the font used.
I also bought this for the same reason. I didn't think that it was possible
I basically did the exact same thing with a template and luminescent paint to paint the night sky on my granddaughter's bedroom ceiling
I wonder if I could use that piece of template paper with holes as a grease shield in my air fryer?
Try running a black light over the clock for an hour, switch it off, and then see how long the clock remains visible after.
Always a great review mate.
Does anyone know if glow-in-the-dark stuff has to be that greenish white color? Could they have painted the glow stuff on black numbers, so it could be seen in the day and at night?
Honestly, as a crafter, I think it's a pretty cool idea for not a lot of money. Worked into something other than a plain wall, it could be a really unique piece. 🤷🏾♀️
the pictures of the clock look line a PNG file just dropped on stock photos LOL
Can you do a review on Amazon telescopes in the $150-$300 range?
I've had good luck with my LaCrosse projection clock, though the projection isn't visible in normal room lighting it is big enough and bright enough to be seen at night without my contact lenses in
I've ordered roughly 35+ items from Temu to review, never saw this clock though. Thanks for your review.
Tip: Don't get the lint rake. It's hard plastic with a pipe cleaner that pops off. Doesn't work at all, just falls apart. Threw it away. My favorites so far are a watch ring that's surprisingly accurate and cool, the veggie/dishes/laundry sonic cleaner, and a $9 wig. The sonic cleaner is a bit noisy, but works very well at all tasks. The wig I thought would be cheap, but it looks like real hair and high quality. Hair Cube was the brand.
I'll be looking for more reviews!
Watch rings were a big thing in the 70s right after the mood ring died off.
James, just how DOES it look under a blacklight?
I would design a surface to stick numbers to and put led lights around it
