About the rents: There was a law protecting people from rising rents but unfortunately it was shut down. Many students and young people now struggle to stay in their homes because of those rising rents

That's right but it 's still much cheaper compared to other western countries. Living in Toronto or New York with the same amount of money is impossible.

The law remains, but the letter does not have to keep the law. You can free of charge request rent adjustments to the Mietspiegel(avg rent) by visiting the Sozialgericht. In other words the former law made the Mietspiegel mandatory for all, now Mietspiegel,is still valid but has to be requested. There are tons of information pages online

In comparison to where? London? New York? Tokyo? Cali?in a way ur right. Prices doubled last 10 years and of ur moving to Berlin you must be lucky to find sth. cheap. But other big cities (in germany) are way more expensive... Cheers

@@trupiil No it's lamb, herb's & spices, and obviously depend's where you buy it and the establishment you visit. I guarantee there's better quality meat and ingredients in kebabs than any fast food burger place, Mcdees, BK, etc.
@@xn-triq7607 it's not lamb mainly and they sell you scrap meat elongated with non-meat material. You're not german I guess, but we know it's called "Gammelfleisch" for a reason. Your guarantee was a bit optimistic, but mcd and that stuff is trash as well.

@@trupiil The good ones are lamb, I've had some absolutely delicious kebabs, I think they get a bad rep due to the cheap street corner burger van kebabs but you do get very good kebabs as well.

I love skating in Berlin, there are many hidden spots and I love how fast you can meet new people. People can have fun without being mean competitive. There is a certain aura and chaotic atmosphere in Berlin, that you do not find anywhere else. People have real freedom ,it feels like.
he's talking about berlin 10 years ago.... this is very out of date. berlin is not cheap. and you better ride with soft wheels there - and be ready to tolerate the wet weather - because the sidewalks are made of cobblestone and the ground is usually wet.
If you go cruise, take a cruiser, if you go to spots, take your bike. Simple as that. And the cheap options are still around if you know your way around the city.

After watching this, I’m pretty sure if I ever go to Berlin I’m never coming back.
I spent 2 months in Germany. Very unique place and people. I think about it often.

I shot my board at a German Turkish family's pram once as well, in Stuttgart.
They were unbelievably gracious about it.
I didn't hurt any of them and they were more concerned for me slipping out on my ass, braking in the rain, when I saw them.
I can't imagine any of my fellow Irish reacting the same way.

Maaaan this one makes me sad. Last Summer i went to berlin like every year (im German myself) to visit some friends, hanging out and having a good time like in the video. But the last time it was already so different because of corona. Really depressing to me.
