I rescued a baby grey squirrel in New York state USA. It's eyes were even closed, it was so young. Fed it warm cow's milk from a toy baby doll bottle till it could then eat soft cereal, and then nuts and bird seeds. What acrobatic little people! and Such High Energy levels! Let it free with an alternative food and water shelter, outdoors. It almost immediately found it's home in the wild. Love it Forever ♥
I get tears in my eyes when I see the little baby squirrel. Five years ago, when I was walking here at home, a little squirrel came running to me, it climbed up on top of me and sat on my shoulder and refused to go away. It sat on my shoulder for several hours as we walked around looking for its mother. We contacted vets in different places, all said the same thing: let nature take its course... I took care of him 24/7, fed him around the clock and he grew and felt good, he is the nicest animal I have ever seen. When he was full-grown, we brought him back to nature. We visited him a few times afterwards and he came when we called him. Hope he's still alive Love him with all my heart hes name is Pelle
@@Angela-x6omost vets don't give a shit about wildlife, no owner to charge! Even though they are supposed to have a duty of care to wildlife in need but that usually means just to put to sleep!
I am always afraid that going to the vet means "putting the suffering animal down". And never giving the animal a chance to recover with a bit of love and care. Sadly, time is money in this world today. I remember seeing some kids bringing some baby squirrels to a vet because they fell off a tree. I knew in my heart of hearts what their destinies would be. I wish I could have just taken them from the kids and nursed them.

About 20 years ago, I also raised squirrel. Funny, I also gave him milk through a syringe without the needle. Great minds think alike!!! The hardest part is as they get older, they get more wild. They pee and poop everywhere. You just need to deal. And eventually, you want to transition them to outside. But there are many dangers for them (so hard to let them go). I gave him a bird house to sleep in outside. When I later visited, I found a squirrel like him. Called to him. And he came down the tree and climbed on my shoulder (with his sharp claws). Anyway....Good luck!!!!

Thank you Dani. You are a great example of how humans should be as custodians of this world. Ever since I befriended a squirrel 12 years ago, I had visits from his descendants every year. His offspring take their children to our porch just outside my kitchen, showing them where their humans put their food. The older squirrels travel deeper into the forest as new one comes into the world, but every year, we're lucky enough to get to know their babies. We also have a large variety of birds who discovered the same feeding ground. I can sit at my kitchen table watching these animals all day, roaming around outside my kitchen window. Thanks btw, for some tips on what other snacks I can offer my little friends, beside the nuts and seeds they are served every day.

I was a Land Surveyor for 27 years. My wife and I raised and released a male and then a female. The male came back a lot. Then he bit me and made himself independent. A few months later when we released the female, she came back until mating season, she built a nest in a hollow tree, had a family, and went wild and free. Ruined my squirrel hunting. Forever. What amazing animals. He used to sleep between us on his back. Thank God for that experience. It led us to rescuing and keeping abandoned starving dogs. I had 6 of them for 7 years. Squirrels and Dogs actually love you. I wear tiger stripes and sit with a big camera in the back yard. Thank you for this video. Grace to you, friend.

This brings back such sweet childhood memories! When I was a kid in the 50's and 60's, I lived in a suburb outside Stockholm. Our house was the last but one before the big forest took over. During these years the, as the community expanded, more houses were built and trees were felled. Many squirrel nests fell to the ground and babies were abandoned. At least that was what we believed at the time. Our family always had a lot of animals, which we were known for in the area. So when someone found squirrel babies, they brought them to us. I think that we had 7 or 8, one or two at the time. Some were very young, without fur and with their eyes still closed, and they did not always make it. I remember that I mourned one of them more than my grand parents who had recently passed. I had such bad conscience for this, I was about ten and clearly understood that my grandparents were more important, but... I remember the feeling to this day. :( But most of all they brought the family endless joy, with their antics, and always running up your back to the spot where you could not reach it. Our dog, a fat old dachshound, had very mixed feelings. She normally hated squirrels, but understood that these squirrels were family. When they gradually were rewilded, it came to a point where the dog brain could no longer decide what they were. We have old 8mm films where the squirrels chase her on the lawn and ride piggyback, like a rodeo. Thanks for your lovely photos! Nature is wonderful, and childhood memories like I described, eventually formed my life and inspired me to become a biologist. Per Cronholm

Thank you for taking care of this adorable little fur ball. Cats, dogs & other pets like squirrels & chipmunks are a gift to humans & one of the greatest joys in this life. I know its a huge commitment but despite the challenges & sacrifice it’s all worth it. One thing that makes me livid are those who give up or abandon. You make it work no matter what. People who abuse or abandon are scum. I don’t know how a person could live with themselves. Anyway, cheers & thank you for sharing your story & I’m glad that your squirrel has an incredible squirrel Mon😆😁👍
You have such good energy ! I love your videos ! Amazing how you saved the baby red squirrel :) You are amazing !!!! I grew up in England and from elementary school they taught me to feed the birds in winter. Now in Canada I think I'm the only person in my neighborhood to continue feeding birds and squirrels with sunflower seeds at this time of the year :) I wish there were more people like you in this world.
Hello Dani, what a great story. This is an adventure. Simply become a squirrel mother overnight. A big “thank you” to your neighbor Jill (I hope I got the name right). Every mother has to learn what to do. That is normal. Especially when the baby is so different. I'm already looking forward to the next episodes. I hope everything turns out well. We often have squirrels in our garden. They go to the bird feeder and also to the squirrel feeder that we bought especially for them. The birds also use both feeders.😊😍 We also have a water point, which is also well used by everyone. I wish you a nice Advent season. Kind regards from Germany

But most of all they brought the family endless joy, with their antics, and always running up your back to the spot where you could not reach it.

So many bad things going on in the world, and this made me cry in its stark contrast to the desperation I feel deep inside, but at the same time gave me some well needed hope for mankind. Thanks for rescuing such an innocent little soul. ❤

Love this video and so grateful you got the opportunity to become a Red Squirrel mommy and raise this precious little gift to the world up. Thank you for being so kind, doing this when I know how much time it takes and for filming and sharing with us.
Happy Holidays 💙
Oh Dani! 🥰 I can't! His little sigh 13:13 His twitchy dreams! Thank you for bringing us this joy.
Fabulous....the universe has allowed you to have this amazing experience for reasons that are obvious to anyone who watches your channel...as a kid, my mom raised 2 red-breasted robins that feel from their nests and it was an amazing thing to be a part of...earning the love and trust of a wild creature is a uniquely rewarding experience....best of luck to you and your squirrel ❤
This is the best story I’ve seen all year! I did a similar thing with a kitten and she lived with me for almost 19 years. You’re awesome to devote so much to animals. Thank you !
Very sad for the mother… but absolutely brilliant for you and the youngster 👍🏻
Dani, this has been crafted so beautifully, truly a narrative poem!
The birds also use both feeders.😊😍
We also have a water point, which is also well used by everyone.
I wish you a nice Advent season.
Kind regards from Germany
Ey up me duck.
Still watching and thoroughly enjoying your videos. What an absolutely prescious, beautiful little creature, bless you for caring for him. Hope you and yours had a good Christmas 👍🙂
Dani,
Thanks for bringing me a mysterious world of squirrels. I started my dream of becoming a wildlife photographer two months ago with a starting point at squirrels. My motivation comes out from your outstanding work. Thank you and....thank you! Keep going to share your amazing and beautiful passion to the world.
How beautiful that baby Red Squirrel is and the care you have given him.
I have your calendar and haven’t looked at the pictures yet as I wanted to be surprised every month.
You have a special gift caring for these beautiful creatures, thank you for all that you do. ❤❤
The world needs more people like you ❤️
This is so beautiful to see, my heart is bursting watchng this little fella make a full recovery. How can you not be emotionally invested in this sweet little boy - you should be really proud of yourself for everything you have done to give him the life he deserves.
