Ligers(male lion/female tiger), or Tigons(male tiger/female lion).
Fun fact: Ligers are technically the biggest and strongest big cat that can exist, able to grow larger than either parent species. The current record holder for the largest non-obese Liger was named Nook, who weighed 550 kilos, over 50 kilos heavier than the records for Lions and Tigers.
The current *living* largest cat, is a Liger named Hercules, who is 418 kilos.
And if a fertile female liger/tigon mates with a full-blooded tiger or lion, you can get various three-quarter hybrids which also have their own names (like "titigons" for tigon+tiger.)

The reason Ligers are so big, is because female lions are responsible for the chemical in their brain that stops them from growing. Male lions don't have that chemical. And neither do female tigers. So, Ligers grow to be twice as large as a normal lion or tiger.

Side note: my parents had a small lap dog (chihuahua fox terrier mix) who felt it her duty to eat everything. She once ate a sub that was larger than she was when it was left within her reach unattended, and also once ate my freaking paycheck out of my purse before I could cash it. I had to call my boss and tell them I needed a new one, and when they asked why I had no choice but to utter the words "my dog ate my paycheck". She insisted I was lying, so I drove into work on my day off to show her that my dog did, indeed, eat my paycheck. For the rest of the time I worked there, I was told every payday to make sure the dog was fed before bringing home my check so that she didn't eat it. (Side side note: the sub had been from my job, and was my dinner, and I also told my boss about it. She often sent me home with leftover hamburger from the cheeseburger subs for the pupper as a treat, and even sent me home with a mini pup-friendly platter of cheese fries.)

Did a quick look up on Josef. He did survive that night, the Germans were both amused and impressed by his courage but pretty much pushed past him. His failing health later forced him to move where he died late 1945. Though I got it from looking at r/AskHistorians so not entirely sure how accurate it is since it is Reddit.
