Sorry I misspoke. When I said I was shooting 30 FPS on the A1, I meant I was on H+ drive mode but third party lenses are only capable of shooting 15FPS
it's supported now😄.
@@二子喵proof?
haha the best ending ever! HE IS A HUMAN EVERYBODY!
I started watching you 3 years ago manny. Before I bought my first Sony camera which was the a6300. After 3 years I decided to upgrade to the A9 mark 1. You have been very helpful with your information in all your videos .
Still rocking the Tamron35-150 f/2-2.8 on my Sony A7R5 & A7IV. Very happy with my results.
Sigma continue to kill it. 14-24, 24-70 and now 70-200. I hope they hurry up with Z mount lenses.
Agree completely. I WANT SIGMA GLASS
I shoot with sigmas 35 1.4 and 24-70 2.8 and they are killer. I’m hoping that they come to you guys soon so we all can save money and get fantastic photos
i have the 14-24 and 24-70, I love them! I already have the sony 70-200GMII, so I wont be selling it for this one. @@ItzSlushie
Im not seeing this happening, and i agree with you all. 1.4 lenses are missing. Actually im thinking about others brands.
@Manny Are you sure about shooting the Sigma with 30fps? Shouldn´t it be limited to 15fps? Great video though.
But I´m actually quite diesapointed by the Sigma. They had said a while ago that they were going to bring an innovative lense in this range, but they obviously opted for the most conservative aproach possible: it´s big, it´s heavy and exactly a 70-200mm 2.8. I would clearly prefer the way lighter Tamron 70-180 mm 2.8 or the way more versatile Tamron 35-150mm 2-2.8 that´s still lighter than the Sigma. Shurely a great lens, but by no means anything innovative.
fyi - you can shoot 30fps in afc mode, but only 15 in afc mode when you use AF-tracking mode.
The last sentence was probably not on the prompter lolol 😂😂😂😂 get some rest
I love the ending, where you show your human non-perfect side. It helps me and possibly others connect with you Manny the normal person and not the perfect photographer. I hope you decide to incorporate more into your future videos. Great video as always 👏
I was waiting for this lens, but its all backwards. Zoom at the end, counter clockwise rotation, higher price(than I was hoping for)... The test shots look great, but sounds like a pass for me.
I had the old A-Mount version which is also "backwards" but you get used to it very fast. Unless you're constantly flipping between cameras, eventually it'll become second nature and you will forget that it's "backwards"
I never used a 70-200 on a tripod. Whey is the zoom ring at the end of the barrel? I don't get it. But it's a great lens, that's for sure. I think I will buy it.
Ending had a sort of Gerald Undone quality to it. All right.
Image quality is old hat nowadays. It’s the bells and whistles that sell camera equipment.
Thank you for this Manny. Look after yourself bro. Understand you gotta work but your health matters too. Walking Zombie Manny is not sustainable so I hope you can get some meaningful rest too. 😴😴😴😴😴
The location of the zoom ring and the not easy to remove tripod collar are deal breakers for me.
How does it compare to the Tamron 70-180 G2?
I recently bought the brand new Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG DN OS | Sport Sony FE mount, but unfortunately it keeps making relatively audible noises when it is connected to the camera and the camera is on.
The noise is comparable to when an external hard drive is connected to a laptop and you click through the files. In other words, like when an external hard drive is running. The noises are similar. If I turn off the image stabilisation switch on the lens, the noise is just the same. Even if I don't press the camera's shutter release button halfway, the noises are audible. They are permanently audible, regardless of whether I am taking photos.
Can someone please give me some feedback as to whether this is normal with this lens. I would hate to have bought a defective lens for so much money. Many thanks in advance.
Make a comparison with the old 70-200 GM :)
no :)
Why oh why Sigma?!! The zoom ring should be Righty tighty, lefty loosey like everything else in the world.
The backward zoom ring is so silly, and the placement is horrendous.
Great optics, but the UX makes it a definite no-go.
Manny, your sample images are unreal, fantastic!!
The zoom ring at the end is such a boneheaded move.
that ending was super relatable, the human side to all of this that we all do. Thank you for still putting this out for us Truly appreciate it
I picked this lens up in the beginning of summer and it’s my favorite lens. It’s almost identical in sharpness to my 135 GM. The lens hood is my favorite design cuz it stays in place and I did a video showing that it barely covers the zoom ring a 1/4 of an inch. Reviewers were saying it covered almost half of it. This lens isn’t for everyone. The limited 15fps turns most away. But for me I never shoot over 15fps with my A9 for sports. I have used it for over 30 sessions and 4 weddings and I have yet had an out of focus image.
Sad It’s $2500 for Indian, any alternative site for indian people??
Only 1500 WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Nice Video And As Always Nice Photos. C'mon Manny Did You Just Say ONLY 1.500.00 For The Lens :( Can't Afford Such Lens lol
I opted for the Tamron 35-150mm, the only lens i've been using lately. I have the Sony 85mm 1.8, Samyang 35mm 1.4, and Tamron 20mm 2.8. If they ever make a 35-150mm 1.8, that would be the perfect lens for me, i don't care if its a bit heavier.
As an apsc camera owner, I just don't understand the " is too heavy" argument. Soon as a I can no longer fit my camera in my pocket I don't care how heavy it is
@@CLtech05 when I first switched to Sony from a Canon 7D, i got the a6000 to try it out. I bought the then new Sigma 18-35mm 1.8, hefty lens, never had an issue with it, even would shoot one handed sometimes while I held a flash in the other hand.
70-200 loses f stops as you zoom in. Great for day time sports. Clown show in low light events.
I think something was bothering this dude... wasnt him at all...
Thanks for leaving in the unedited clips. 😂
For the price range... Would you get the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 or the Sony 70-200 f/4 Macro G OSS II?
I had this lens for two days Kind of regret trading in my 70-200 f4 😢😢 ,, what did you end up choosing?
Love it dude. Also, when we hoopin???
They would release one after I already purchased the GMii 🙄. Can't wait to see comparison videos but the GMii is a godsend.
Yeah if it was out before I got my GMii I would have bit but we're in the same boat, we forked out the $$$ on the Sony so let's be happy! 😂🤷🏾 the Sony 70-200GMii I think is a must and then sigma everything else is good
@thekonvos yeah I was holding out but then I got booked for some fashion shows and was not about to be without a telephoto lens. It's worth it's weight for sure but paying half the cost is always better IMO 😆
This video was still good, but as you likely know, it wasn't your best work. The best advice I was given is that you should never film a UA-cam video tired. Get a little rest, relax, then do it my brother. But hey, love the authenticity and I still want to buy the lens for sure.
Sigma shot 30 fps and wasn't capped to 15??
It’s capped.😭
Always appreciate your videos. Been using your reviews and advice for years. Thanks manny!
If lens weight more, it loses value
Cons: heavy 1.5kg, zoom ring at the end of the lens, in addition, move rotation opposite direction, restricted to only 15 fps, high price as 3rd party manufacturer, its better spend a bit more and get legendary GM II, i bet AF in GM is far far better
1.5kg for a 70-200 is heavy? damn..
@@RanSilverman sony weight 1kg, so yes, definitely is a brick in 2023
Been searching for a while already and will use it for filming wedding. I dont mind the weight of sigma as I'll be using it on a tripod most of the time but I need the best focus available and being non parfocal is the deal breaker for me. Another, for photo I really prefer the lightest one available without compromising the quality.
Sigma did a great job specially for the price but I'm going with the gm2 for now..
Your hit rate of shooting 30fps on A1 is technically 15fps because you can't shoot more than 15fps on third party lenses. For telephoto lenses always go with native lenses.
In Aust same price as sony GM 2
This is an instant purchase.
lol... what do you mean you were a walking zombie? hahahaha
Wait...Teleprompter? You mean you weren't spitting facts and specs of the dome?! Mind-Blown...lol, j/k. I really had given up on Sigma releasing this lens. Thanks for the info Manny...Go to sleep
I would have bought this before Tamron came up with decent options.
Wow I'm so early 😂
Arms look large! Manny hitting the gym! NICE!
That’s from extended long distance photography sessions.
Love this video with thebloopers left in. And the review of the lens ofc. I have it already for the L mount, pairing it with a Leica SL3, but still looking at reviews. Don't know why :)))
Walking zombie asidea, wtf is up with the arca swiss plate on the already arca swiss ready tripod mount??
You should call this video teleprompter Wars lol. That was absolutely hilarious to listen to. I would say it sounds better when you're just pulling up the info from memory because some of those words didn't really sound like Manny was saying it. Anyways do what you got to do keep up the good work and whatever happened to the video with your stuff getting stolen We never saw update from that. Anyways Godspeed
@MannyOrtiz , im getting a deal on old sony 70-200 a 200$ less than sigma 70-200. which one to pick. please answer
Awesome I am looking for along range lens will go to 300 if possible
What was that 😮 you could've concluded with final thoughts bro.
nice alternative lens, but i think is better to choose the sony lens. the sigma lenses have in the past years some problems like getting dust particles inside of the lens.
“In the past”
That won't be an issue on an internal zooming lens like this
Kindly, could you specify the product model for the Sigma Lens Adapter
Sony cheapo lenses for cheapo users, at least they are not Samyang or Tamron
Not beating the Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD
why mounting an Arca Swiss plate on a Arca Swiss compatible tripod mount? ☺
This is anti clockwise zoom? Like Canon's
"Its only 1500 dollars" is crazy 💀😂
Hope you’re doing fine manny and get some sleep and mental break. Looking forward to your next video
Can this lens actually do 30fps on the A1? Sony didn’t gimp it?
If you want to sell more presets show us how to download and use then if I know I would buy all yours
My boy was reading like Floyd lol
Dont need this, i love my Tamron 70-180 G2! 😍
Bulky 😢
Got mine yesterday. Cant wait to test it in combat (soccer, motocross, planes) :D
Been waiting for a manny video after he went to the Sony creative thing
Wait you got the full 30 fps with the a1 and the sigma?
How to seting sonya74 sigma70-200 bro
Great lens. But the G masters white is a huge flex.
😂
thank you for the Review. very well done.
A pity that it's not an Art lens.
Is it sharper than the new Tamron 70-180 G2 and the Sony 70-200 f/2.8 GM1 and the new Sony 70-200 f/4 G2? It will be less sharp than the new Sony 70-200 f/2.8 GM2, definitely.
Why is the zoom ring right at the front? That must be a horror, right?
The weight also scares me slightly. It is heavier than the new Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM2. Are there any wedding photographers or other people here who shoot for several hours or all day with lenses that are that heavy? Is that really possible? Doesn't it hurt your bones at the end of the day?
Thank you very much
It’s practically an art lens. Sigma labels their premium telephoto lenses as Sport instead of Art.
my kinda lens for sport photography.
the lens is dope.
this lens can use for Sony A6400 ?
Congrats Manny on 700k! Impressive brother.
Amazing review my Brotha!!! ✊🏾📸✊🏾
Thanks for your insights, Manny. Great video!
Lol. I knew you were reading. 😂
Not the video Sigma had hoped for.
Isn't the A1 limited to 15 fps shooting with 3rd party lenses? The native Sony lens would allow for full 30
That it is. Also blocks teleconverters, which is a considerable convenience downside for a zoom with this kinda focal range and aperture.
Now can we get a Z Mount please.
10:06
How is the stabilization on it?
Second
Take care of you 🙏🏾👍
I love that you kept the teleprompter stuff!!
Can we use TC on it?
GM all day everyday.
How tall are you?
Finally, they cam up, and it's a good alternative it seems, good in weight, internal zoom, good sharpness, Arca foot.
Though the hit-rate, despite the new (finally) linear motor(s) for Sigma, seems to be substantially lower than Sony's.
But such a huge fail to have the zoom ring up there, for hand-holdability! Next time they can try using the hood as as zoom ring. :)
Why its a fail?
I wouldve bought this lens 3 years ago when I was in the market for it. Since then I have sold my 24-70 and picked up the 24-105 and 100-400. I am very happy with my decision.
If I could start over I'd get that exact setup. Both superb pieces and the 24-105 is so underrated.
@@nicedward7544 The 24-105 stays on my camera 90% of the time. f4 is way more than enough to get exceptional photos in most conditions. Hell I even step down to around f7.2 most of the time. The fact is that most people that buys one of the expensive f2.8 lenses will never get to full potential out of the lens.
The thing with third party lenses now with Sony is that now you don’t completely know whether it has full support and functionality of Sony’s new cameras because now Sony cameras do shoot crazy fps and it will be a shame if it does not support all the features.
All third party lens are limited to 15 fps
All the non sport FF cameras (minus the A1) can't shoot >15 fps
yessir
Manny Keeps it real!
sigma zoom lens = out
sigma prime lens = perfect
Time to give Sigma more of my money! I need this for fashion and event coverage.
0:37 ...fist time i see an arca swiss plate on a lens arca swiss standard mount...?
Zoom ring at the end is horrible. Zooming the wrong way is horrible. Those are deal breakers for me.
yep. exactly.
Insane lens! Sharp doggo photos!
