I think it's funny how Matt has improved in his art over the years, and yet the main cast remained unchanged.
They were perfect from the start
The first time I cleared this game on Epic back in high school, I honestly wasn't serious about actually clearing the whole game this way (I had previously done it on Easy and Normal). I was kind of pleasantly surprised when I beat it.
I kind of want to play some of the older games again now...
Man, having only played 4 and 5 all the way through, there's so many references I get now
I haven't even played these older ones and I have nostalgia.
U should definitely play 3
A bittersweet and painful ending for humanity with a oddly upbeat song. Huh, neat.
It's here that we notice in today's world that Anna got nerfed hard
Maybe it's Anna's mom 😅
Matt took a shortcut there and just used Natz's model, but that's besides the point. It's not a nerf, it's important to have flat(-er) chest representation
After all, big boobs may fill your hands but flatchest will fill your heart
@@civilsecuritypain6110 We saw Anna's mom in EBF5, and she didn't have green hair
Unfortunate that Anna had to get that badly nerfed
Why do you want the Child to be sexy? 🤨🤨🤨
@@civilsecuritypain6110it's Anna's non canon older sister was confirmed on an art on deviantart
I just decided to play Hard mode on this game. Zombie Goku is by far the most demanding boss that I have fought in any JRPG and you need to respond to all of his attacks.
The fact that he poisons you and it STACKS is the most annoying part of this fight. I decided to ignore the poison, because I thought I can't waste my turn purifying it. I rather have Natalie constantly using Healmore or Judgement to keep herself alive and have Matt pump him with Seikens because Natalie is too busy healing.
Then he dispels the ONE party member. Which makes you choose whether you should either re-establish buffs or live without those buffs. If it was designed that the boss dispels both, no questions, you need to re-establish. But he doesn't and it all leads up to chance, its just not good design. If you guess wrong on what he's going to do next turn and he used Spirit Bomb when you're not healed up, say goodbye to one of your party members. If Matt dies, its not that big of a deal, have Natalie revive him. If Natalie dies, you have to use a Water of Life.
But my biggest problem is when he seals your spells. You have to waste a turn having Natalie purify or use an Antidote, instead of healing. So, what happens when he Spirit Bombs after sealing your spells? You're probably not healed, and you die.
That fight is so luck-based because he has so many potent and powerful moves. Remove the seal ability, give a warning when he's using Spirit Bomb on the next turn, and it will still be a really hard fight. (Which there really should be a warning. The Spirit Bomb needs at least 2 Dragon Ball Z episodes to charge in the show.) If you game over at the last boss of the game, you have to redo this whole campaign ALL OVER AGAIN just to refight the Final boss. Especially when he's the Final boss. Its just an insult of my time. But the game is great, I think its really funny and well programmed for a flash game. Its a shame we have to have this really bad egg of a Final boss. Named Zombie Goku.
Yeah the game definitely isn't balanced around higher difficulties.
I use Natalie to attack solely because Judgment heals. I'm ok with Natalie dying since she still gets to take her turn if Matt revives her. IIRC Matt dying led to instant game overs most of the time.
Valkyrie (the final boss of EBF2) was also very demanding if you play on epic difficulty. Even with all the knowledge and good strategy, there is still some RNG involved.
@@shoesama I've cleared the game on Epic without using any items until the final boss...whose combination of status abuse and high damage may very well require items to get past, unless it's possible to luck out at the right times...
@@steam-powereddolphin5449 Yeah, I can't think of a method to survive and/or do damage to the last boss itemless either.
Good job on doing everything else itemless though!
@@shoesama The damage part isn't a particularly big problem, since Matt can continue to have unlimited MP
via Devil's Sunrise; Natalie, though, needs to Defend and hope that Goku/Roku uses Kamehameha in order to restore MP before the Spirit Bomb phase.
The Seal abuse is the worst part, since that locks all healing options except Purify.
I haven't yet tried using Matt's turns/MP to actively summon Mog/Balrog in hopes to get a good item effect on the right character (and that's assuming he's not Sealed/Syphoned, which means no chance of him curing that and/or Poison without straight-up using antidotes); the fact that Antidote and Water of Life/Holy Water only have a 1/15 chance of appearing makes it too extreme a gamble for the original version of the game and it's lack of save points. It MIGHT, however, be worth trying in the EBF Collection rerelease, since I think Matt said that he implemented autosave checkpoints...
I love the fact that when the Spirit Bomb comes back down Goku and Duskull both look very concerned
The Final Fantasy IX music got me 🤤
The mobile version is now out on Android (with new songs). 😁
Yes, I play EBF5 now
Where u download it?

This is the first game in which the Epic Battle Fantasy series started it all. Lance made his playable debut in Epic Battle Fantasy 3, Anna in Epic Battle Fantasy 4, and NoLegs in Epic Battle Fantasy 5. I hope there will be Epic Battle Fantasy 6 in the future.
I remember i cried when i died during fighting zombie Goku
I can't even do sh** when i was playing normal/easy difficulty,i also die in the shell foes one i don't remember the name
Wow, I love Epic Battle Fantasy This is so cute of every videogames!!!!😘😚❤️🥰🥰🥰
You know? There is other ways you can deal as much (or more) damage as a legend with less cost of mana and without sacrificing your defense in favor of more damage. (without Soul Eater) Just saying.
Congrats on beating this game on Epic difficulty. That's a pretty good strategy on beating the Zombie Goku.
Hmm, are there better attacks for Matt to use?
I pretty much only used only used Matt to preserve Natalie's MP. Soul Eater was just there to do early stages faster. Faster runs = more runs = more attempts at Zombie Goku.
"Congrats on beating this game on Epic difficulty. That's a pretty good strategy on beating the Zombie Goku."
Thanks!
@@shoesama Take Regice for example. Take the eruption add the damage boost from Inferno (Sword)add Regice's weakness to fire and add attack up and Regice defense down and you will end up dealing crazy damage. I'm pretty sure I did like 50K damage to Regice like that.
There are times when Natalies is a better fit to be a heavy hitter like in Beholder and Regirock's fight. It's important to point out that Rune Blade does have a high magic attack so if Matt is gonna be hitting with magic (like Screamer and Power Metal) then equip Matt with Rune Blade.
And finally, you could rely on good RNG by calling in Mog in hopes he/she will give ether to Natalie. It may slow down the process but discard Natalie as the main attacker in the name of conserving mana can also slow down the progress.
@@alexandrpeterberg390 Interesting. Definitely some good information to have, thanks!
Zombie goku is OP when you unlucky with rng, he can spam spirit bomb forever.
And since he gets a extra turn after that attack and
can follow up with a powerful sword strike that also removes buffs you done when matt is dead.
Also revivng matt will result in a bug and not give him a turn and so goku instant wins.
You lucked out to be able to save yourself since goku was low hp when he started using it on you.
In my eyes the first game is the worst of the 5 because of those bugs and rng nonsense, else the fight is easy if lucky
and hell if unlucky on epic, and you where super lucky, GG and to bad EBF6 will not come.
excuse me TuT
Revive can actually heal KO'd Matt for a lot if Natalie's magic is buffed.
I finally got to play this game again . Unfortunately I got to the final boss then died.
I love and support you.
EBF collection is released now i am playing this game with different song they are fire 🔥 and there is medals too and when you die like in final boss you don't restart from the beginning cuz when you kill a boss you get a checkpoint

on my first run, in the beginning, lucky star one-shot the slime. the mog was kinda useless lol
mog rng was good though in world 2. except for the boss. GODDAMMIT MOG I WANTED THE ELIXIR FOR LEGEND i gave up
honestly in my opinion, regirock and regice is the best boss ive ever beaten lol
About a decade ago there was an RPG with the same art style, but it wasn't just all battles. There was a world you could explore, the enemies were slimes, it was long. I think it was by the same creator, it definitely was on Newgrounds. Do you know what game it was?
It's probably one of the sequels to this game. EBF is now a series with 5 main games. Maybe the one you're talking about is EBF3? It's worth to check out.
@@lunalien8240 thank you very much! I'll check them out!
@@vazzeg You're welcome!! If it's the same style but with an expanded world map, then I'm sure it's either EBF3 or EBF4. They are both playable on Newgrounds! LMK how it went :^)
@@lunalien8240 Yes, I think it is 4. I remembered the art style, but also that it wasn't just one battle after another, it was an extended world with characters, events, scenes etc. Thank you again for your help!
@@vazzeg That's great to hear and you're very welcome!! I hope you enjoy reliving your EBF4 experience ;^)!
Cool.
Why did Devil's Sunrise heal less MP with Legend compared to the normal attack?

Can anybody tell me the songs for World 4, Boss 4, World 6 and Boss 6 plz I can't find them
meanwhile, ebf 2:
uuuh some godcats revived them11!!
You might know this, but the explanation in canon is that they were badly injured after the fight and then recovered by the events of EBF 2. It does retcon itself by going from "they died in the fight, the end" in EBF 1 to "they didn't die, they were only severely injured after the fight and now recovered just in time for these events to happen" in EBF 2. Though without that retcon, this video and the rest of the game series wouldn't exist so that's one way to think about it.
@@NatalieFan85 I didn't know
EVERY fucking time I play this game, he spams Spirit Bomb twice in a row, EVERY TIME. If that happens I just turn the game off, no way are you surviving, it's one of the reasons out of all the games, I cannot physically beat this game on Epic!
You can heal in between spirit bombs
You can defend which absorbs damage as well.
1:15:29
spirit bomb extra attack is dumb design. First game sucks because of this. They should make him hit 10-20% harder and remove that extra attack after spirit bomb. Fight would actually be a little harder but less RNG.
Hold up Golem Pokemon?
why are you playing this game lol
idk I click buttons.
WE HATE THAT GAME
