      @@gregg9788 the whole point on why the stance was bad was with boxing he’s static standing there eating them. With karate he can bounce out of the way as he’s light on his feet. Him being in karate wouldn’t be too much of an issue as most of the power in his punched comes from his rear (left) leg

      @@mrqas2000 He's changed his stance and style from his karate/taekwondo stance and light on his feet sliding in and out, outside fighting picking his shots and throwing kicks to boxing orientated, front leg heavy stance and strategy, keeping his hands up instead of in front of him like in his best fights and focusing more on fighting in the pocket and boxing over his flashy, movement orientated style in the old days of Conor. This is because he's more invested in a boxing-type style as he was half training boxing ready for the manny fight and his training camp is also more boxing orientated. So while he's in the best shape and had his "best camp", his strategy was completely different and I'd argue his previous style would of been more effective against someone like Poirier, as if he was fighting on the outside and picking shots like he used to his leg wouldnt be there as much and he wouldnt of been so heavy on it when he did get caught. If you disagree you should watch his fights in 2014-2016 and compare it to how he fights today. Completely different style....

    Conor needs to switch his team asap!
    I honestly don't remember a time when conors team/corner ever gave him good honest feedback after a round. It's just usually praise. After the first round not a single advice about the calf kicks. They're accustomed to being yes men given his fame and personality in my humble opinion.

      Most corne men talk the fighters up in between rounds. You don't want to dicourage a fighter during a fight. They start to feel they will lose. They had to make him feel like he would win during the fight.
      But yes, I agree he needs some other ppl that will be brutally honest if Conor wants to seriously fight again.

      I realized that during the fight with Floyd. Conor was gassin out, his shots making no damage, Floyd was fresh and starting hunting him down and during the rounds his team was like "Beatiful shot there! Beatiful Boxe here!" They really are a bunch of yesman

      I would like to see him put in a year with one of the top global teams like att/aka/tristar and see if that makes a difference. Nothing against the irish lads and admire the loyalty but just cant help but feel he would benefit from world class training and daily sparing with world class martial artists. Feel hes missing a trick there big time.

      His praise was rightfully deserved though. He clearly was beating Dustin up until his leg went dead, even in the clinch his shoulder strikes were much more effective.

    Conor will need to go back to more in/out movement, teep kicks and other kicks - and ditch the plotting boxing style, in order to have a chance against Dustin. It'd be interesting to see Conor's response to calf kicks.

      Agreed his boxing stance hurt him. Way too heavy on that front leg, he’s got to get back to being light on his feet.

    • @eddiethealien
      @eddiethealien 3 роки тому +2

      Agreed. He did not look like the Conor that won fights in the past. He was flat footed and shuffling one foot forward, one back, instead of the twinkle toes and dynamic movement that won him the belts in the past. He was frozen and stiff as a board.

    Conor needs to regroup and have a relatively easy comeback fight first. At this moment Poirier beats him again. Those calf kicks were brutal.
