- A real life winter wonderland at Silent Lake is what I got to experience over the holidays. I headed out in a snow storm in Muskoka, and landed in paradise a few hours later. For the first time, I winter camped in my hot tent solo at a walk in site here. In March, I was lucky enough to camp at a walk in site with the bigger hot tent with my friend Tam, but had never done it all by myself. It was an awesome experience. After the snowstorm, the snow stuck to everything. It was warm enough to be pleasant, but cold enough to enjoy the snow, and I was even lucky enough to be able to create a snow couch and enjoy an outdoor fire, while I watched the visiting birds. What a beautiful spot to winter camp. Looks so cozy there. Your turkey dinner must have been awesome! It sure looked it. Lucky you could snowshoe the trail before it was groomed for the skiers. Here in St. John's, Newfoundland we have no snow and I really want to get out for a good day snowshoeing. Hopefully soon we get some snow. A very weird winter here so far. We have actually had very little snow here as well. This snowstorm that I left my house from at the start of this trip is the first real big dumping of snow we’ve had and just a few days after I left here most of it melted and we had rain for days. Right now it’s freezing rain. We only have a few inches of snow on the ground we’re normally at this time of year we have 2 to 3 feet. It’s great to hear from you! Wow did you ever time this perfect. This is the most perfect WinterWonderland. The scenery is stunning. Yes the Nuthachers will eat from your hands as I just got back from Algonquin and was feeding them and the chickadees. It’s my at least once a year excursion to make it up just to feed the birds. Can’t wait to see what else you got coming up as this will be hard to beat for scenery.😘

Looks like a great trip so far and your tent is super cozy ! I think I'd try winter camping one day but definitely only in a hot tent as I'm a true wimp when it comes to sleeping cold :(

I'm an employee here at Silent and for future reference, you can snowshoe/walk on the groomed trails. When we groom trails we only track set the right or left side. Leaving the opposite side open for foot traffic.
