These have been around for years known as the China Ball. The actual paper Chinese lanterns were (still are?) used in varying sizes and situations with some sort of raw light head inside for omnidirectional soft light.

These are basically china balls but overpriced.
Yes and no. 1. Their China balls made for bowens mount. 2. If the material breaks it's easy to replace.
