    If you are watching this and wondering if you should submit an arts portfolio to Stanford, I say YES DO IT!! It does not matter if you don't major in your artistic field. An arts supplement just ADDS to your application by highlighting a talent you have! But course, make sure you submit a strong portfolio/audition :)

    Your artwork is so inspiring!! I wanted to ask a question though, two art forms that I'm really passionate about are music composition and sculpture. Do you think it's possible for me to submit both a music and art supplement?

    Hey, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. I am thinking of applying to Stanford this year and want to submit an art portfolio as well even though my major isn't art related. I had a few questions that I really want your suggestion on-
    1. I do both digital art and painting. But I would rather submit my digital art works because they are more recent and meaningful compared to my paintings. And those are not graphics designs but pure illustrations. Could I make an art portfolio with those? Would it be accepted? what is your suggestion?

    Hi again! I forgot to mention how great your art is. It's amazing!! I had another question about the application. Did you edit your photos in photoshop before submitting? Like you know how you do it for ap or scholastic? And if so, do you know if there are requirements? Like for dpi and dimensions? Or what did you do?

    • @DyllenNellis
      @DyllenNellis  3 роки тому

      Thanks!! I did edit them in photoshop first to enhance lighting and color. I don’t know what the requirements are but I don’t recall it makes you resize them a lot smaller...? But I think slideroom itself compresses them.

    Hi! Your works are amazing!! I'm also considering to submit an arts supplement. However, I don't have any awards because I just did not like the idea of my artwork being judged. For art galleries, I tried a couple of times in my region, but they don't accept works from high school students. I do take a lot of classes (online and off-line) related to art (architecture, art history etc.) Do you think I should submit an arts portfolio? Thank you so much!!

    Hi, dyllen. This is a really informative video. But i had some questions regarding just color pencil art. Which do you think is the best the staedtlar luna one or the prisma colors? Bcoz over d time i have realised prisma gives u d realist effect, but having been worked with luna, my art pieces r way different than prisma ones. Do u think the college board wud genuinely love and get awestruck at realist artworks (as opppsed to my non realism colored pencil art)? Even tho art is subjective😌; but i wud love 2 hear ur opinion?
    P.s which color pencils do u favour d most?

    • @DyllenNellis
      @DyllenNellis  3 роки тому

      I honestly don’t have a strong opinion on this. I don’t know if I’ve really compared the two colored pencils but I mainly just worked with prismacolors because that’s what we used in my arts high school. Colleges do care about technical skill as well as the ideas behind your work. I think the favor of realism all depends on the school or program you are going for.

    My “spike” for my application is that I do film a lot. Short films, animations, screenplays ect. Since they don’t have a film portfolio application. I’m not sure how to express it. I’m thinking about making a website to put all my portfolio in and pasting a link in the “extra” section. Do you know anyone who had film as their spike or how to solve this problem??
    Ps: I do acrylic painting on the side and know how to paint so should I just do a fine art portfolio??

    • @DyllenNellis
      @DyllenNellis  4 роки тому +1

      I totally get it. I'd make sure to really emphasize film as one of your extracurriculars. You can also talk about it in your essays if it makes sense for you to do so. In terms of painting, if you feel that your work is strong I'd say go for it! It'll just enhance your application and it doesn't mean you have to continue doing fine art in college.

    Hi. Amazing video thank you ! On the Stanford information page they say the best portfolios are one media, so does that mean that all the pieces have to be pencil for instance or by one medium do they mean 1 of the 4 choices. So between painting,drawing print making , sculpture , photography or experimental media. Basically my question is, can I send paintings and drawings together and will they take that as one medium ?

    • @DyllenNellis
      @DyllenNellis  4 роки тому +1

      While I'm not entirely sure, I took this as just one medium out of those, so that's why I did all drawings. That might be the safest option but I honestly don't know!

      @@DyllenNellis okay perfect thank you. Also, sorry if you don’t mind me asking : so I would say most of my art is very visually based, however over the past year it has transformed hugely into installation art and is more conceptually based. So now I am in a dilemma because I feel that I could really integrate my two style and form a good narrative through my portfolio, because I honestly feel my submission would not be complete if I leave one of my themes out, for instance it wouldn’t be complete if I just send my paintings, drawings or if i just sent my sculpture/installation. As stated in your video, I know they the do not recommend combining the two, but I feel for me they go hand in hand . Please may you just let me know your what your thoughts are about it?

    Hi, your video is very informative and thanks for the efforts. I have a quick question please. You have used a psychological technique to put the best pieces of your artwork in the front and last. However, if my sis wish to do that way, then it will miss the chronological sequence (which I believe is one of the requirement while submission). How strictly will Stanford look for this chronological sequence, as we also believe having the good ones in the start makes lot of sense. Appreciate your info. Regards Ram
