This was THE MOST helpful video on RISD applications, thank you. As someone who cannot draw and make it look like a photograph but can still draw this made me a lot more comfortable with my skills and gave me so much hope.
thank you so much for making this!! most of the portfolio vids i see are filled with extreme technical skill when it comes to drawing and painting. your work showcases way more problem solving and just creativity in general compared to the usual stunning 2d composition. as someone interested in sculpture/jewelry, this actually gives me hope i could go to risd :)
Side note if u gonna make more UA-cam videos (which I think you should) definitely explore topics such as life after college and searching for internships and careers and like yo design process I saw yo portfolio and the three legged table definitely seemed cool
Your video was so inspiring and your personality seemed so nice ahh As a rising senior applying to art schools I’m so self conscious of my portfolio and my extracurriculars If you can, can you answer my questions? 1. Do you think the major you pick for risd as your applying is important? I want to be a design major but I don’t have much design works :( 2. Did you get financial aid? - Risd is so expensive ah 3. How were your extracurriculars? Do you think grades/ awards matter a lot into admissions? 4. How was student life there? Was it very tough- cause I hear many stories about how many art students stay up haha 5. What’s your future plan, as you graduated from risd and stuff? 6. How did you write your essays for college apps? Any tips as in conveying your passion for art? Sorry for a lot of questions haha, but thank you! In advance, if you do answer them :)
Hi Chloe!! Don’t stress too much, I felt the same! 🌱 1. I know so many people who changed their major at RISD and they’re doing great! so I wouldn’t worry too much about knowing exactly what major you want right off the bat. I definitely learned a lot about each major freshman year. Like I had no idea how different apparel and textiles was. That’s part of the benefit of having a foundations year. 2. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get much so, it do be an oof 😓 but I found other ways to save some money when I was at RISD 3. I was a part of a few clubs and was on the varsity swim team. I did some side projects with my high school art program which was really fun. I mean I’d say just do the best you can. I wouldn’t way my grades were perfect but they were all right (If I remember correctly, I was in the A-/B+ range) If you get awards, great! It certainly doesn’t hurt. But if the tradeoffs of working towards the awards vs. allocating your time on something else doesn’t seem fun or exciting, then I’d say your time is probably best put somewhere else. 4. HAHA yeah it can be very tough and I’ve have pulled many many all-nighters and have had some terrible critiques but I don’t regret any of it. I learned and liked what I was doing (in the most part haha) But tbh I really liked pulling all-nighters with my friends working on our projects in the workrooms 5. I’m currently freelancing! I’ve got a few freelance jobs at the moment and am starting to apply to jobs again, hoping this corona pandemic calms down soon…fingers crossed! 6. I rewrote my essay SO MANY TIMES. E x h a u s t i n g ! But I ended with an essay that was something only I could write about, hopefully making it more personal and unique from the rest. Thank you for asking questions!! Hope this was helpful!! ☀️
Hi Sophia very educational video. I wish I went to RISD and majored in industrial design. Instead I went to Pomona with your friend and majored in math. I prefer math. God bless
Hi Sophia, I enjoyed watching your video and the tips. Just checking if it was a diploma that you've got for the 4 years stint at RISD? Or was it a degree? Thank you.
How can I learned my own art/Painting style!! I'm not a art student but I'm preparing for..... Since childhood I love to do drawings, sketching and painting...but I haven't find out what type of my art styles is... (ps:- hey, sis plzz don't ignore my comment.. Cus I really want to find out my own artistic styles.)
don’t worry TOO much about finding your style because it will come eventually naturally. try to emulate artists you like and notice what you like about them and apply it to your own art. (for example, maybe the way they use color) notice what you like about your own art, too (like maybe you really liked the line work you did in one piece and figure out why it was successful) your art style will evolve and change and eventually it will be completely yours. just keep drawing ❤️
cái hay của phúc đó giọng hất rất tình cảm , mỗi bài hát là bạn ấy thả hết tâm hồn và tình cảm vậy , và thể hết giống như mình đã từng trải nghiệm , i love you
Why did you go to school your art skills where through the roof already. Was it just for the ID knowledge and paper. You can't get a job no matter how good you are without a degree anymore.
