Genuinely, the feeling I get from watching this is like the feeling I get from watching a 20 year old Tony Williams. I know that’s an insane compliment and I truly believe it. The future of jazz is in you my man.
Yeah It was Bananas. Right on the money. I showed my Man .who's a little older. He laughed and said "Mannn, that sounds kije something Klook Mop would do".😊😂. That'd be the Awesome and influential Giant Kenny Clarke.
Cool man. For a split second I thought you was the drummer Rodney Holmes. End of the day all of our people are one. Nice swing-style. The way you ended the head in the beginning with the hand/foot combo and muting the cymbal...CLUTCH. Felt like an Elvin Jones or Jack DeJohnette moment.
Sounds insane! I am thinking about getting a new snare, and yours pop in every single video! I was wondering what your recommendation would be? Nothing too expensive🙏🙏
@@grahamcraft4325 thank you! Honestly I love buying used gear. I’d say check out tama snares. Anything works though . Just tuning and finding the right heads.
Absolutely burning man, you clearly practice a lot. Are you quite systematic or more organic with your practice? Like do you ever follow any routines at all or just try to be generally consistent?
@@jamieboylesdrums Thank you 🙏. When it comes to practicing I’m a bit of both but I try to be on the more systematic side. I do technique training for 1-2 hours. Then I do metronome play along training and then transcribe/phrasing
Can I ask what cymbals we see you playing incl. hi hats? I tend to think better drummers can make most cymbals sound good, but with jazz there’s always something about the wash and the articulation where less is more. Like I don’t really know why you would have more than two cymbals that you can ride and crash on, but that’s not exactly how the industry sells them. Maybe that’s what the problem is.
