Very nice presentation. Numerous fishes species, especially gostfish, surgeonfish, unicornfish & convict tang(weke, kala & manini) are highly sought after by local spearfishers
Last time I was here I saw 3 eagle rays swimming in circles for like 5 minutes they were AMAZING. Looked like a momma and 2 babies. It was my favorite thing i saw in the water on my trip other than a massive old sea turtle on Kauai :)
The best time of day is usually in the morning. The best time of year is usually during the summer since there is a winter swell. But it can very from day to day. A good option is to check the surf report for the area and go on a day with the smallest waves.
You are expert on identifying different kinds of fish! Question: is the grey yellow color coral reef or are they mostly rock? I thought reef should be colorful like orange pink purple not grey.
Thank you! There is a lot of lava rock but it is mostly covered by different types of coral. The color of coral in the Hawaiian Islands is mainly yellow, green, brown & purple. If you want to know more this is a great article explaining things (it's about Maui but applies to all the islands) : /harsh-truth-coral-reefs-in-maui/
Thank you! I personally prefer sharks cove. It gets deeper faster and the rock formations and caves are really fun to explore. Also the tide pools on the right side of sharks cove are a great place for kids to play and try snorkeling. Three tables is excellent as well though.
I liked Hanauma Bay better than Three Tables because there was a lot more variety and also bigger fish at Hanauma Bay. Both places are good snorkel spots though. You could also check out Sharks Cove if you are on North Shore, it's right next to Three Tables so you could potential do both in the same day.
Hanauma Bay is my #1 target when I get there. Because the government has changed how tourists get to go there. We need to log on to a web site at 7am to try book a reservation at a selected time. And from what I’m reading it gets sold out in minutes. They are only allowing a certain amount of visitors per day and they only open the bookings 2 days in advance. ThreeTables and SharkCove will the alternative place to snorkel if no luck with HanaumaBay
Check out the description for more details on this spot and check out our channel for other Hawaii Snorkel Videos! 🙂
Love that you name the fish for us beautiful there
Thanks, yeah it's a great spot. 🙂

That's awesome! Eagle rays are one of my favorite things to see in the water. That's super cool that you got to experience that! 😃
Thank you for identifying the fish😜👍🏽
You're welcome!
Oh yeah
Awesome video. Thanks.
When is the best time to come here? We were there last week and the water was rough.

@@murphytravelsofficial Ok thanks a lot!!
Would you say ThreeTables is better then HanaumaBay ?
By the way - this is the first video I’ve heard someone show this beach.

@@RodSwansmad Yeah, Hanauma Bay is definitely harder to do because of the reservation. I hope you are able to get it though. Best of luck 🤞
