nice to see impressions of long passed by times...I live near that area and asked myself how it looked back then, when all the troops were still there...for a long time all the buildings were empty and on the way to collapse; people threw their rubbish in there, but these days some of the buildings got a rework and the rest will be done too I guess...it's a quite interesting feeling walking through all the empty buildings...
I was stationed there from the opening of the Kaserne in December 1951 through December 1952. The stone barracks were still being built, and the winter was one of the worst.

That Zwei had been a Royal Canadian AF base, which is why the street names are Ottowastrasse, Montrealstrasse, etc.

went back in 2009, more like a ghost town these days...so sad.
We lived in the building shown where the swingset is.
