Fun Fact about this song. It is a bit more pseudo-biographical, not just in the "joining the army" part. but also the Band that he joined. (Technically created) which was Majosha, they had one proper album and a few other things (plus a few lives you might be able to find). Also a funky Japanese Dance version of a song they did too. The band actually broke up in April, not May funnily enough, and actually a few years after they got Ben's brother (Chuck Folds) and created a band called "Straight Ahead" (now known as "Bus Stop"). They've got a few albums, and some really nice tunes. The band has Eddie Walker (like from the Ben Folds Five song), Evan Olson (who went recently semi-viral due to an old song), Chuck Folds and Snuzz (Britt Harper Uzzell). Basically a few really cool NC artists. Snuzz also played in the 2001 Rockin' the Suburbs live tour with Ben. However, Army, such a fun song. This actual live (dubbed "Freaking Out") is honestly AMAZING. if I recall correctly, it was, their last live before they broke up (excluding their reunion last year and the live to remember their recently passed Producer, Caleb Southern. Sometimes dubbed the 4th member of Ben Folds Five). Done in Japan, Ben and the crew basically go insane by the end of the whole live. I heavily recommend watching the full live video of it or the final song in it. Also, great analysis and look at the song. And looking at the song and the album at whole, really shows you the level of depth of Ben's writing in reflection the band itself and why it disbanded prior to their upcoming 4th album. Truly them coming to realise the whole fame ordeal and pushing themselves with lives, over and over again. I, typically, come to this album in rougher times (or just to feel a nice vibe), as you can feel a good amount of emotion coming from it. but, to conclude this mildly absurd fan rant of Ben. I am a huge fan of his stuff, solo and BFF (band). I'd certainly list this album as my favourite for what it is. With the true others basically shortly falling behind. I'd say Whatever and Ever Amen just below. However, if you include Ben's solo career too, it can become quite vivid. For me, I don't dislike Ben's stuff- he generally makes good music. Especially since I'm a pianist myself, I love hearing then playing; so I have no complaints. Thank you for the video. I love UA-cam recommending me weird stuff I haven't seen before about topics I'm interested in. Quite fun! Question for you guys, seeing as the video was posted a year ago. ANY other songs you guys have listened to and/or enjoyed from the Ben Folds (Five) catalogue?
Before youtube and retro video, this was one of my favorite songs to play on the fly. The punk pop pastiche was so in line with my way my life was going. Kinda went with it but nothing positive ever came of it ha.
