      hitler had less hatred for the French than he did for the Slavs who he wanted to to have enslaved and exterminated. He believed ethnically the French were more closely related to the Germans despite being mixed with a different blood. At the end of ww2 the German commander of the city Dietrich Von Cholitz recieved orders from the high command to not let Paris fall to the allies exempt in a field of rubble but he thought hitler and the high command had gone insane.

      @@hassu2149 No, Japan and Germany. The Soviet Union and China followed and had completely different approaches, unlike their predecessor warlords, they chose not to go directly at war with the West, and instead fund and control many proxy wars over the years against the West. Which eventually led to the Soviet union and now soon Russias downfall. Only China realized that proxy wars with the US wasn’t doing anything beneficial for their country, and instead moved towards relationship and trade with the West. But now their new leader is basically undoing the country one string at a time, and re gearing up for likely proxy wars with the US, and even direct confrontation.

      @TrySomeFentanyl 3 місяці тому

      @@YorkshireFlea Oh they aren’t? 🤣 Did they tell you that? Or have you actually looked at their financial reports they have released since the war has started? Along with ya know, seeing them be forced to stop oil exports twice, in just 6 months. First, due to the rotting oil infrastructure that no longer had access to its needed spare parts from the West. Russia ended up taking care of that with Chinese knock offs, and black market parts. Reopened, and then a few months later, Ukraine started targeting their refineries, and again forced Russia to stop exports, because a significant portion of their refineries have been destroyed or seriously damaged. I could spend the time giving you a breakdown on Russias financial reports, mainly like how they have lost out on 30-40% of all their expected oil revenues from both the exodus of Western trade, and their constant bans on exports because the whole industry is degrading quickly, currently faster then ever with the frequent Ukrainian strikes. Inflation is completely unstable, some months its normal, the next its above 10%. The fact that currently Russian businesses are setting records.. for the amount of bankruptcies being filed. Russia is in a full war time economy, this year officially surpassing 50% of their annual budget going towards the military. About 40% for the war in Ukraine. And about 10% for domestic use. Which is really just for their ineffective border guards, and training facilities. Russias economy at face value, without any information about it, looks like its fine. The reality is its not. Since the war restarted, Russia has increased military spending by about 300-400%. Which counts as GDP. They have basically replaced all of their lost GDP from oil production and sales, with the production of weapons and the hiring of additional military personnel. Neither of which provide any kind of revenue for the Russian state. Only more and more burden the longer it goes. As for Russias “self reliance” it turned out that was complete BS too. As China now dominates every consumer market in Russia. Overtaking Russian made goods in nearly every category. You can find several good unbiased channels who talk about the economies of the world, and really no one is doing too good right now. But Russia isn’t just not doing well. They are in a complete decline, only being masked by the massive military spending. I recommend watching Joe Blogs here on UA-cam. He does regular analysis on the Russian economy, and many others. No hate, no bias, just breakdowns and comparisons from now and pre war using the official financial reports released by the Kremlin. The amount of data they release has dropped dramatically since the West intervened in Ukraine, but they still do release enough information that shows how fast the real Russian economy is decaying, along with their education and healthcare systems now being severely under funded. Basically anything in Russia, that doesn’t relate to war, has either been destroyed by sanctions, inflation, the sudden collapse of the Ruble, or simply because Russia has diverted all normal budget increases for domestic programs, and instead diverted every Ruble, Yuan, and Rupee they have into the war. A war that in reality has been in a stalemate for two years. Yes Russia has made two successful breakthroughs and gained a good bit of territory in Bakmhut and Andviika, but they still haven’t even recaptured Kharkiv, Kherson, or even Robotyn lol. Nor have they dared to try to come back in through the north, obviously trying to avoid another embarrassment. Basically in short Ukraine liberated several times more land in its first 3 major and successful counter offensives in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson, in just a couple months, than Russia has been able to capture in the 2 years since. Not a lot of actual progress coming from the country who said they’d have the entirety of Ukraine within 2-4 weeks. Instead they have about a fifth of it, including Crimea, after 26 months, and by the end of this year, over $500B in USD equivalent worth of costs. According to their own financial reports. Not a good look for a country that claims to have the strongest military on Earth, yet they still incur major losses every day, with minimal gains in the grand scope of the entire 1000km of frontlines. Ukraine has successfully stopped Russia from making any kind of rapid and low cost gains for the entirety of the war after the initial blitz into the East. Doing so on their own, with some help from Europe and the US occasionally. And it’s not just Russia thats feeding their military either. They have actual dedicated supply coming in from Iran, North Korea, Belarus, and are using loans from China to help fund the war. People like you say things like Russia is defeating the entire West in Ukraine. When in reality, Ukrainian military spending since 2022 is higher than the total amount of aid sent to Ukraine, since 2014. About $150 Billion of Ukrainian military spending since 2022, only receiving about $110B in military aid since 2014. The real facts are, Russias healthy and booming economy has been reduced and replaced with a military economy, the same reason for the collapse of the Soviet Union. All for a grand total of a 0.7% increase in land size. And added 90,000sq km, to their already existing 17,060,000sq km. And they are also now completely bordered by NATO and EU countries on the East, with the exception of Ukraine. Good luck with the cope withdrawals when the inevitable destabilization of Russia occurs sometime in the next couple years. Because although they may seem to have unlimited weapons and men, one thing they don’t have an excess of anymore, is money. Soon pensions will go unpaid(more than they already are). Schools and universities will be forced to close. Hospitals will degrade into hazard. Small business has already been crippled, but will also disappear if it remains in the current trends. Their oil industry in the West of Russia will be further destroyed. And China will eventually own Russia, in the same kind of way Russia owns Belarus. It’ll just be an offshoot of Chinas economy, as it already is almost one. Year on year Chinese products and industry have replaced more & more of Russia, and soon the only things operating in the country will be owned by China. Don’t forget, land is just one aspect of war, which is extremely complicated. Even though we won every battle in both Vietnam and Afghanistan, we lost the wars. It would be a good comparison, except Russia doesn’t win every battle. And neither Afghanistan nor Vietnam were our neighbors.

      They chose to live to fight another day instead of getting slaughtered for no reason, they also evacuated over 123,000 french soldiers and civilians (over a third of all the people evacuated from Dunkirk). If those troops didn’t make it out, there’s a good chance D-Day would have been impossible as the majority of the troops that stormed Normandy were British.
      The entire reason Dunkirk happened is because nobody was prepared for the french to perform so horribly, they couldn’t hold the line and then blame it on the British for being caught unprepared.

  • @gioilcreatore3547

    You forget one key event of this campaign: Germany could have killed them all in Dunkirk before the evacuation. A.H. gave a stop because he still believed a compromised could be reach with Churchill. He never wanted a war with British Empire. That was a huge mistake: never let the enemy escape, you must be ruthless. If he destroyed british army in Dunkirk, germans could have transformed continental Europe in a huge fortress and force Britain and US to come to terms.

    "Perfect plan" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. It was an extremely risky plan, considered by both the allies and the axis generals as risky, and the Germans, knowing they could not win a drawn-out conflict with two colonial superpowers, decided to take the risk and it worked out perfectly for them.

    France saved French lives through sacrificying Czechoslovakia. And as gift to that Czechoslovakian tanks LT35, better than German's in that time, came to France with Wehrmacht. I can say that 6 howitzers to Ukraine, calls to Putin, demands to stop the war, and support by mouth are similar to that sacrifice.

    Funny because what you call tank division for french ( division cuirassée ) was closer to a tank brigad ( only 1 single infantry bataillon , no recon unit , just a few artillery and 4 tank bataillons )
