    Its already been said really but coppice a few of the trees, dig up brambles/ nettles, give it a rake over and seed with wildflower mix. Annuals and biannuals. Plus sone woodland bulbs in shady bits.
    If you ask me, with the state of things atm, we should be trying to steer people away from clearing 'wild' areas like this and replacing with neatly cut lawns and not much else. I appreciate though its not always easy for people to manage. I think its mostly a mindset thing though tbh.

      There's an 10' treeline being left for wilderness and yes the rest to lawn for maintenance ease. This property is surrounded by forests so plenty wildlife areas, definitely a shame when all the city gardens get put 'tidy' as they do become barren of wildlife. Thanks for the comment 👍

    I'd personally get a digger in to level it all and then either seed or turf depending ont he budget... Maybe create a wild meadow towards the back underneath the trees where the grass wont grow

      That's the plan Jordan 👍 going to see if I can weld up a lute or rake for the little digger🤔

    For low maintenance, keep it wildish, after clearing the area so its just soil, plant creeping buttercup in the shader areas around the trees, and forget me nots in the sunner areas both will spread nicely and you will have the benifit of colour and attracting polinators and a few well places shrub , paths can be cut in with a mower once established, put in a bench for a seating area, for a place to relax, all depending on the budget, I will look forward to seeing what you will do, i am sure it will look great.

      @@LewisgardenservicesLtdCreeping buttercup will spread quickly so if your customer wants it under control a bit more you could plant swaths of primroses instead of creeping buttercup

    I definitely wouldn't turf it. It will be so difficult to maintain for the client and is too boring.
    Some decent bark to cover the ground - prevent weeds coming through and stop it from becoming too boggy in the winter. Then some different sections that the client can enjoy / interact with... Seating by a water feature, a small patch of wild meadow plants for the bees (or a bee hive if they are up for it!), a hammock between some of the big trees, a small area for a rustic fire pit, some bird/bat boxes

      That's something I'd like to do if it is as my garden, the customer here tho finds lawn the easiest to maintain so it's heading that way with a wildlife strip along the tree line. Thanks for your comment 👍

    cut it back to ground, rotate and wild flowers, can be left to do its own thing all. year then mow over it in autumn then repeat next year, looks great and exceptionally low maintenance for them, job for you next year and thereafter also 👍

    • @LewisgardenservicesLtd
      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  5 місяців тому

      That would be nice, think they want it a bit more 'under control' now tho. Cheers for watching 👍

  • @Ben-fk9ey

    Maybe a wildflower meadow? Seems kind of out of sight and I think it'd only need cutting in the late autumn?

    • @LewisgardenservicesLtd
      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  5 місяців тому

      That would be nice, ground has some serious invasive weeds there that would soon overtake without a lot of prep work 🤔 cheers for watching 👍

    I would either seed and stop dress, a bit of rough grass at first but over time could be quite a nice lawn, quick easy and cheap, obviously budget dpending, personally if it was up to me I would plants lost of shrubs and trees, make it a wilderness, wild flower ect

    Yeah I'd put as much of the area down to grass as poss, we can maintain that quickly with our etesia kit 😁!! Maybe a couple of feature shrub areas, poss some long grass with grass paths during the summer then a hay cut at the end of season?

    Without knowing the full budget and customers exact preferences its hard to say.
    If it was mine I'd carefully clear the area to tidy it up.
    Then use what i had available to reduce materials.
    Choose which tree's could be sacrificed.
    Bring in a chipper and re use the drowned tree's to create a woodland inspired low maintenance area.
    Weed suppression and barks beds with walkway's leading to a secluded seating area with possibly a fire pit and somewhere to cook.
    I'd then factor in some nice perennial shrubs and ground cover to create some character and privacy.

    Clear it the best you can. Dont look that bad once you get into it. Level it with the mini digger. Then turf most of it with a few specimen shrubs dotted through for interest throughout the year. Break it up a bit.

    Cover it in bark! 😝 Only joking. I'd pay the areas furthest from the trees with turf then create wide borders around the trees covered in weed membrane and bark. Intersperse that with some low level, site growing shrubs that don't mind the shade and lack of mister due to the bug trees taking it all. Essentially, make it into a managed woodland area, varying the heights to give a multi level for wildlife but not too h high so you can easily trim and maintain, if that all makes sense?

    • @LewisgardenservicesLtd
      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  5 місяців тому +1

      Sounds a good one 👍 the rear tree line is being left for wildlife area👌 rest looks like lawn I think. Cheers

    General trim to tidy things up, strong plastic / perforated DPC like plastic (not a fan of landscape fabric as bugger to take back up) and bark, see how long that takes and any time/budget left a bid of inter planting with woodland flowering plants. Going by lack of ground cover light levels very low over most of the area.

    • @LewisgardenservicesLtd
      @LewisgardenservicesLtd  5 місяців тому

      The ground cover has been cut back there, did see a picture from last year and totally overgrown there😬

    Upto then end of day, spray and rotavate and grass it easiest option in a few days and mulch around it under trees. If it was me and had all money and time I’d plant a few pines and make a little copse with a weaving path through. In a few year they will have grown up and provide shade and I’d get it planted up with evergreen shrubs mostly like your comelias, sarcoccoas and what not. But that’s not an option for you!
