This was never the case. To attract high-caliber individuals to political offices, we need to make public service competitive with private sector opportunities to draw in talented individuals. Pay them a competitive salary. Otherwise we'll keep getting Gaetz and AOC. Along with that, all investments should be placed in blind trusts and ban all gifts to mitigate conflicts of interest, fostering a culture where decisions are made in the public's interest. You will get corrupt liars or inept PolySci kids if you keep it cheap and rely on the goodwill of the participant.
This is exactly what should be done as they are our representatives and we need to know exactly what they are doing. It is a shame that the USA has so much potential for good and yet it is seems paralysed in doing it.

Agreed, but it would be refreshing to hear a politician not have to lie about the numbers in order to make their point. For example, Halliburton is (and has been for decades) a publicly traded company. Their financials are open for all to see. At no time during the Iraq War did Halliburton ever earn anywhere near the "Trillions" of dollars quoted by Tulsi. In fact, the highest revenue year (2005) they only had a total revenue of $20B and net earnings of barely over 10% ($2.3B). A far cry from "making trillions of dollars". Was there a lot of overspending by the US Government? I'm sure there was. Were there Executives at Hal making millions? I'm sure they were. But exaggerating the numbers by a factor of 50+ makes you lose all credibility. Takes 10 minutes to look it up and get the facts straight.

We keep hearing about the military industrial complex. How about having a leader from one of the big military contractors on to speak about their perspective. How they view the world and themselves in it, their experiences, and if they see the landscape of war changing for the better of humanity?

There is nothing hypothetical in the question. Putin has already gone into Georgia. He has already gone into Ukraine and taken Crimea. And he has done the same in Eastern Ukraine since 2014. His speeches and writings indicate a man determined to restore the Russian Empire while his stooges and acolytes threaten countries from the Baltics to Poland to Germany and even the UK on a daily basis. The threat from Russia and Putin is very real.
Tulsi is precise in her language and speech. Her communication skills plus her military experience, patriotism, and honoring of every individual’s value make her excellent in international service to our nation. I greatly admire Tulsi Gabbard.

I seen the same things, Tulsi described in Iraq that I did too. The KBR, the dining facility with all the Bangladeshi workers and what not. I think Tulsi may have been at BIAP the same time I was, but there are so many soldiers there, that I would likely not have recognized her anyway.
The KBR Haliiburton industrial complex is the direct result or republican policies as were both wars prior to 911. Read Kinslers Crossing the Rubicon for the full on paper trail and realize just how deeply the inside job narrative goes when you follow the money. KBR in particular made billions from importing heroine, which was ultimately what Afghanistan and Iraq were mostly about. She's saying a lot to say nothing at all. E.g. "Palestine v Israel' - it will end if people let go of the past and come to the negotiation table. "Ukraine v Russia" - it will end when both parties compromise. Like ... yes, brilliant points Tulsi! Why didn't we think of that, of course!
She has no power to do anything now, and she's very careful not to get into specifics which can tie her politically in the future. She's actually acting smart by not getting into details at this specific moment. All these issues are very complicated that they can't be properly discussed in one interview and certainly not be resolved based on her general aspirations.
It's because we have not had a military veteran in political service since JFK. That ended for a reason. Not one single high profile politician has served except for Dan Crenshaw. He has been very quiet.

There was a time when citizens were free to move between Gaza and West Bank, It was kind of self selection. In 1972, general exit orders were issued allowing residents of those territories to move freely between the West Bank, Israel, and the Gaza Strip. Following the First Intifada by 1991, the general exit orders were revoked, and personal exit permits were required.

Criticized Biden as doing the opposite of what he said, but Trump's issue was he surrounded himself with the wrong people? Has no big political ambitions but Hawaii govt -> Congress -> Presidential run? Seems weird to me.

At no time during the Iraq War did Halliburton ever earn anywhere near the "Trillions" of dollars quoted by Tulsi. In fact, the highest revenue year (2005) they only had a total revenue of $20B and net earnings of barely over 10% ($2.3B). A far cry from "making trillions of dollars". Was there a lot of overspending by the US Government? I'm sure there was. Were there Executives at Hal making millions? I'm sure they were. But exaggerating the numbers by a factor of 50+ makes you lose all credibility. Takes 10 minutes to look it up and get the facts straight.
