"King Kong ain't got SHIT on me!" Fun Fact: That epic line was ad-libbed by Denzel Washington. Location Location Fact: The Quality Cafe coffee shop in the beginning of the movie (which was, incidentally, the first scene shot) is the same shop that was used in (but not limited to) Se7en (1995), Gone In 60 Seconds (2000), Ghost World (2001), and Catch Me If You Can (2002). Law Enforcement Fact: When the movie came out, many viewers and critics were skeptical of the scenes where Jake Hoyt (Ethan Hawke) smokes marijuana laced with PCP and Alonzo's (Denzel Washington) explanation of how a cop who didn't take drugs offered to him on the street would be ID'd as police. David Ayer responded in an interview by holding up a highlighted section of the LAPD's rules and regulations; it stated that officers were allowed to use narcotics in very specific undercover situations and hewed closely to what Alonzo told Jake.
Antwan Fuqua said that most likely, Alonzo started out like Jake. Wanting to make a difference etc, pushing the line of the law to get things done until eventually crossing it. Before long, he himself becomes a monster in the streets, or a wolf in sheep's clothing, which is the worst.
@@aboutthat1440I don't blame them for trying to do a followup series, since it's not trying to oneup or replace the film..just expand on the same universe
"King Kong ain't got SHIT on me! " :) - Based on corrupt LAPD Officer Rafael Perez, true story. Only Denzel Washington could do this story some justice. If you enjoy him as an actor, check out MAN ON FIRE 2004. This is personally my favorite role of his.
I love how this movie shows a hierarchy in the criminal underworld. Everyone serves a higher master, even corrupt police officers. Payback and Layer Cake are other movies that do a really good job of this, too. It adds a lot to the texture and lore of the world.
Movie recommendation: Shot Caller (2017) starring among many others Nikolaj Coster-Walday (Jamie Lannister you know) and Jon Bernthal. Family man Nikolaj makes a mistake and winds up in a California state prison, and once inside it's sink or swim. His time in prison is told in flashbacks, while we follow current day Nikolaj as he at the start of the movie is released from prison, and he struggles to complete a deal he can't back out from. Fantastic performances, and with a haunting score. The last movie that had me this gripped was Sicario (2015), and that's saying something.
Alonzo's original plan was to keep Roger alive because he still cared about him but once Roger said he's not gonna take this sitting down that's when he decided to kill him so it wouldn't come back on him, he even said to his squad if he gives any shit give him lead
I enjoy Denzel's performances as a bad guy the most. "American Gangster" is another good one. Ethan's best role is in "before the devil knows you're dead" with Philip Seymour Hoffman. It's Sidney Lumet's last movie. 12 Angry Men was his first.
You guys ever gonna get Lewis back to finish Yellowjackets? lol Fuqua said even with Denzel and Hawk in the movie... the studios still werent convinced to let him make the movie (as he was a young director at the time) They needed another hook so he told them "Im gonna put Dre and Snoop in the film. except I'm gonna put snoop in a wheelchair and I'm gonna make Dr Dre a cop" and they let him do it,lol Fuqua thought it was troll funny making Mr 'Fuck Da Police' a cop.
Nice reaction, I like that you guys are very down to earth and it feels like watching a movie with a couple of buddies that are actually interested in the movie. Looking forward to more movies!
For another buddy cop movie (well I guess Training Day isn't one of those lol), check out Bright (2017). It's gonna sound a bit weird, but it's set in modern day Los Angeles (or so I think), but in an alternate timeline of Earth where some fantasy species also exist alongside humans. The main ones are Elves and Orcs, but there are others. Anyways, Will Smith plays a cop who's partner is the first ever - and highly controversial - Orc on the force. The movie draws quite a few parallels to our current society, with racism and prejudice and stuff like that. Pretty fun movie, with some good action scenes.
It seems like the movie Training Day is based on Hollywood (CEO'S, ELITES). The peoples that are trying to achieve their goals or get to the top in movies, singing or whatever has to go through sinero's like this whether sexual, monterrey, or whatever, but maybe not in one day.
Only one other channel reacted to the Malcolm X movie. Maybe because it’s so long but it’s well worth the watch. Arguably Denzel’s best performance ever.
39:22 you say that like its easy to pull a trigger and murder someone youve spoken to.... it is not.... and second. It was NOT easy for thanos to throw gamoras ass off a cliff.... imagine having murdered someone. That shit is not easy bruh.
I really enjoyed the dude on the right’s commentary. It’s so interesting seeing someone’s first time watching this. I’m curious, are you law enforcement by any chance?
Dude with beard talking over almost all the best lines in the movie 😅
Denzel Washington insisted that his character die like a rabid dog, unceremoniously without the least amount of heroism or sympathy.
True. They thought about Denzel’s character committing suicide or perhaps even getting away. But Denzel didn’t like those ideas.
@@keyshawnbess572Suicide would've been out of character for Alonzo, I'm glad they went with Denzel's idea.

"Fallen" is my favorite Denzel movie. It's different than anything else he's done. Also starring John Goodman, James Gandalofini & Donald Sutherland.
Another classic Denzel movie is Malcolm X. He was nominated for an Academy award for that movie.
This is the kind of movie I feel can never be remade.
I agree.
Well it's Hollywood and it definitely SHOULDN'T be remade but....

His famous King Kong line was in fact improvised.
I love how this movie shows a hierarchy in the criminal underworld. Everyone serves a higher master, even corrupt police officers. Payback and Layer Cake are other movies that do a really good job of this, too. It adds a lot to the texture and lore of the world.
Yup. I've seen Layer Cake. It's one of those smart British crime capers where if you miss five minutes, you miss something important.
Payback is one of my favorite movies and it's a shame it is hardly reacted to here on youtube.
Jake was either gonna become the fall guy or join his group.

Why you telling the plot? Shut it.
@@orangewarm1 Have you seen the movie? Everything I wrote is revealed in the first five minutes.
Small correction - chronic 2001 actually came out in 1999, not 2001
I watched this the weekend before ethics class in law enforcement academy
Another line you should use in daily life: "My nigga".
my favorite one is "I NEED MY MONEY" its the way he says simple stuff
Maybe not. Quit trying to get people fucked up

Pooh butt is my favorite
“Poo put” basically means square or “lame” or “nerd”

Yes we intend to eventually continue with Yellowjackets, as soon as we’re able
The "snail" is Jake.
Couldn’t arrest Roger cause he was able to sell dope with impunity. Couldn’t arrest him before this.
Hard to believe but alonzo was very similar to Jake when he started. Some deleted scenes show some of this.
1:36 now a part of my rapito 👍🏽 thanks lol
Guy in the blue shirt has some flavor for liking this movie 😂
Your video title should be ''KARENS movie reaction Training day''

Jake took a ass whopping but he pistol whipped Alonzo nobody mentioned that
This guy acts like corruption in the police department is surprising

Denzel Washington’s character was based on Rafael Perez.
Yup. The Rampart Scandal.
The biggie smalls murder accuser
One of my fav movies! Great reaction guys 👌I recommend you "Street kings", you will like It

No Nate is not a cop. Legally he would have to tell me if he were
Great reaction and review 😀!
Stop talking so much watch the movie react to it
Lmao it’s really the one with the goatee he’s the problem
This is a great film but the whole Russian plot hole is kinda wack.
This is fair.
38:48 its not realy a slasher movie. Jake is on pcp..... so..... its different for him.
Oh shit. I just realized. Its grwg fields and steven bonnell II 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 oh shit aaaaaaahahaahhaa pls tell me somebody sees it. 😂😮😮😮😂😂
