I was a mod early 80s but had punk skinhead and rocker friends the original Ted's were very smart in my opinion and great music aswell I'm a big fan of 50s rock and roll some of the best music ever to exist
I'm a 22 year old Canadian and I discovered a bit about the ted culture not long ago and I must say, they (along with the mods) dress freakin dope compared to any youth subculture today. I love that there were more diverse youth subcultures back then and they actually had their own identity. Now it just feels like the youth today don't have a specific identity and they just go along with anything that's mainstream.
Yes better dressed than the people now days jeans n trainers TEDS THE FIRST SUB- CULTURE, they said rock n roll would die, IT NEVER WILL, give these guys respect for keeping it alive
good to see the original Teddy Boy look is still alive. The whole Teddy Boy culture suffered greatly from the Showaddywaddy clowns of the early '70's with exaggerated brothel creepers (the originals had much smaller soles), exaggerated sideburns, long hair and overly tight trousers....oh, not forgetting the ridiculously bright coloured drapes. Both the British/Irish Teddy Boy culture, as well as the American Hep Cat culture, were the neatest and most stylish youth cultures ever.....and the first! It all went downhill from there!
Crows Nest Quiffs; a belly fulla thunder has been replaced with a belly fulla beer! Teds harrass Nuns! Now there's a headline for The Daily Sketch.....
people who havnt got a good thing to say must live a boring life, im one of them and its just a way of enjoying oneself with out any trouble so if you dont like it then dont wach it, go wach a cartoon or something and leave us to enjoy ourselfs, cause i think we is smart, unlike some of you who still wear a romper suit and dont no how to have fun. it was a good time the 50s.
@van5695 It's true. I'd respect them but judging from this video, they're just trying hard to have fun and emphasize their overproduced revival of the subculture.
I think its time the old dears need to go back to their rest homes and be tucked nice n safe into bed so they can get up early in the morning to cash in theirs pensions
Teddy Boy style has to be the ugliest fashion ever! I know that clothes are no indicator of intelligence but i think Teddy Boys look thick and this video does nothing to make me think differently.
