I was a Teddy Boy in the 70s! I was born in 1960 so all my teens were in the 70s. I know a lot of real teds from the 50s didn't really appreciate Showaddywaddy but they were the band that made me want to dress like this. Always liked the music my father liked though.
i guess im randomly asking but does any of you know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I somehow lost my password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Vincent Ethan Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Ye gods and little fishes I'm 68 this month and I'm still wearing my leather got no hair tho lol but these were great times 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙
these seventies Teddy Boys were caricatures of real fifties Teddy Boys. The real Teddy Boys looked smart and stylish. This lot are garish as typified by 4.38. Bright coloured drapes, sideburns down to the chin, hair past the collar, visible tattoos, tight trousers, jeans, thick soled brothel creepers etc were NOT part of the original Teddy Boy look. Its because of this garish image that a new generation of R'n'R fans in the late seventies turned to the American Hep Cat style instead.
At last, someone agrees with me; the 'originals' never wore 'showallywally' or multi-coloured drapes. Leopard skin roll-collars/cuffs? ffs! neon socks, bootlace ties, thick-sole 'creepers' also a 'no-no'. My drape just had the velvet collar & nothing else ie stylish. The shoes flat-soled black leather with 'bulled' toecap. 'Barnet' short & above the collar. Watching this brought back happy memories despite the fashion 'faux pas'. Keep on Rockin'! :)
Lots of face whiskers. Teddy Bhoy hairy men. Incredulous how the drape was bastardised to such a laughable, bafoonish garment! Perhaps there's an alternative verse to Cavan's Teddy Boy Boogie: I whipped out my razor and..... had a shave.....! Johan
Some of us are still rocking and will never stop long live rock n roll 🎵🎵🎵
Remember it well, Rock On, Flying Saucers, Crazy Cavan, The Sun Sets, the good old days.
I still have my drape and my creepers from this time...but can fit into neither, and all me hairs fell out, but the spirits still strong.

Really bad records accompanying this video which highlights the ugliest fashion ever. I have never seen an intelligent looking Teddy Boy!
The backing track is a piece of crap.
