This resource leniency for building units has been sorely needed, the old all or nothing way made heavy cavalry near non-existent. I would also have been happy with an increased upkeep until owning the expected resources.
The addition of Caribbean Pirates in the game is fantastic!! But I think this was a missed opportunity to add the Portuguese in as a Early Modern Civ as they would be perfect for the piracy/seafaring theme
The soundtrack of this game is an absolute triumph! It really does speak of the beauty and history of mankind and its darker moments, too. Its so damn good!
In all the games I've played since the early 2000's I usually deactivate the ingame music always immediately but the soundtrack of Humankind is an rare and beautiful exeption. Thank you for your Humankind videos and helping to get an easyer acces to the game. Keep it up. Greetings from Germany! (...and when I really think about it "Homeworld" is my all time favourite game soundtrack so far.)
The resource update looks good! Bringing in management of the trade routes and more of the resources needed for powerful units, but then the ability to accrue those resources over time if they are limited, all very interesting ideas!
On console that's the single worst aspect as the UI for it doesn't let you see anything. The rest is great and is easy to control (unless it's fighting with troops - very finicky).
Humankind always looks so cool, I even own the damn thing but it never clicked with me. I LOVE the tone of Humankind, I think Civ's current aesthetics treat history a little too lightly, but damn if Civ 6 doesn't play so damn well. Wish I could find a newer game that has the vibes of Humankind but the gameplay of Civ 6.
I really hope the next DLC after this one will focus on Asian Cultures, like the Vietnamese, Jomon, Ainu, Tibetans, Champa, etc and they could make the Chola a free culture for the classical era
im not the best grand strategy player, but humankind is on gamepass and I'm always intrigued by these kinds of games even if they are a bit daunting. This one caught my eye, so I'll give it a go and see if it makes me more interested in these types of games. Thanks for the video!
Defiantly curious about the availability of DLC on consoles. I know the two culture packs and Norte Dame are but can’t find any info on Together We Rule and Para Bellum.
I am always surprised how many people play Crusader Kings 3 on console and post to the Subreddit. If you simply don't own a PC those versions are probably very welcome, as a strategy player.
I was so excited for Humankind leading up to it's release, as a long time fan of the Endless games. But once it dropped I just kind of... didn't play it? I've got 7 hours in it since release day and am finally deciding to jump back in after this video.
This game keeps getting bigger with added depth and well thought out changes. I like the overall additions and appreciate the talent and effort to make it work, though I do hope that the game set-up is developed to be more granular allowing a player to play the way they want, rather than have DLC stripped or enforced; This would make for a far more approachable game allowing any that don't want to get engrossed in minutia of say trading treaties. Having 'governors' take over that aspect at any time throughout the game would remove a lot of time and effort from the player so they can concentrate on their chosen winning strategy.
As a PS5 payer, I'd also like to see your opinion of the console edition of the game. I'd also like to know how far behind the PC version the console edition is. For example, are all the year 2 updates already present in console edition (including available DLC), or would we have to wait for them?
Just like for Civ6, the question is, will the AI build decent fleets or will we keep fighting field units adventuring at sea? As for the resources, it was like that in Civ: beyond earth and I quite liked it. It brings more balance issues for multiplayer though, let's also see how this will work out.
Playing the update with the beta I can tell you the answer is kinda yes. They do build and use navies, but I’m not sure if it was good or not as I was taking familiarity with the new naval stuff, but the major IA competitors had large navies and where actually decent in combat. It’s definitely better, but humans will always be better. Also, due to the level of difficulty, their units had a bunch of damage points moe then me, so with even fleet they’re in advantage.
Been playing the game since it came out on game pass and while enjoyable it has the huge weakness of these games. Even on normal difficulty the AI will just out scale you at an insane pace and just end your run on a whim by generating multiple armies over one turn even in the first couple eras.
I feel the same and quit playing recently (who am I kidding, I'll be back ^.^) but I aint mad at it though. Potato put it best in one of his videos, in the Civ series you tend to be able to make one 'champion' unit (be it your giant death robot or super-charged vampire or Hercules etc) that you can march through enemy territory without fear. Not so in Humankind (and Old World) EVERY unit has it's weaknesses, EVERY unit needs backup Be prepared to lose units. This is why I quit, I HIGHLY prefer the former train of thought (also something that Humankind HAD in it's VERY early day pre-game pass PC), it INFERNALLY pisses me off when I lose units to inferior opponents- so I'm like screw this game and just play something else ^.^.... for the most part lol
It's the other way around. AI can't keep up with a human player even on the highest difficulty when you know what you are doing. Creating multiple armies at the same turn is not a cheat, AI just doesn't spend production on anything for multiple turns and than spends the accumulated production on multiple things at once.
I'm glad that you're someone that is good at these types of games but my point is that non optimal play punishes you incredibly hard. My comment is not aimed towards the high end of the content as normal difficulty should be at level where you can reasonably learn the game.
I played the console version and tbh the pc version is much better for some reason multiplayer wasn’t working for me and it was a bit laggy idk if it’s the game or me but I prefer pc
The controls on console are messy (then again every 4X games are) however I do like being able to sit on my couch and play the game on a big 4k TV instead of having to sit in a computer chair in front of a much smaller monitor.
Console version of game is still a bit different, lacking lo tof things (compared to this video) and controls a bit clumsy - compared to CIV 6, where is was really well made. Nothing groundbreaking, but there is still much to improve
Jus wanted pop bak to this vid to leave a comment! Is there a permanent rivalry debuff if nations pick the Australians and the Kiwis, unless they take an agreement that lowers influence for one country on a coinflip called "lost the Bledisloe"? Said coinflip is supposedly 50-50, but New Zealand seems to win every time.
lol if only I could actually play a game without it crashing on the ps5 it’s a joke literally never finished a game it gets to a certain point then crashes
I'll save you time on your review. Its buggy. I even tweeted to amplitude about it. Your cursor randomly shoots off to the other side of the map, making battles very difficult. The game also crashes
Okay so it's not just me... Wasn't sure cause I've been dealing with joystick drift but it's ridiculous sometimes. I've also noticed in the later eras the game starts to struggle. The UI will start to mash together when switching between all the different menus.
Please make more Humankind content... I just got into it cause of the console release and your vids on it are hands down the best.

First for Native Australian aswell pretty stoked

I just discoverd this game on my ps5 and ive been playing it for 3 days non stop

Excited to see some new gameplay!
Cool, happy to try the new changes!
the cultures, the seafaring, the economy, and pirates.... ANOTHER HUMANKIND SUCCESS UPDATE!!
The trade system looks great. I love it when games do proper trade routes.

I'm hoping Ara history untold will scratch that itch
@@gaussthebengal4609 Yep same, that or the next Civ which I hope swings back to the art deco look of Civ 5 though I'm a bit doubtful
Human kind all the way like civ 6 but human kind is so da* good !

Excellent video, much appreciated.
As a console gamer. I love it. Thank you for your time gentlemen.
The economy system always seemed a bit off for me. Hope it will be balanced.
I would like to see your opinion about the Console virsion of HumanKind
Defiantly curious about the availability of DLC on consoles. I know the two culture packs and Norte Dame are but can’t find any info on Together We Rule and Para Bellum.
Hello! @jumbopixel any news on this game if it’s going to be getting other sets of cultures?
God damn you sound like you’re smiling in every sentence
I can’t get enough of it
KEEP TALKING
I'm waiting for the Caribbean Pirates 😸
Love this game

I am playing it on the console and trying to figure it out.

the new dlc look good and the price is good to
Played the game after a while. Bought all the DLCs because of discounts and I'm addicted. AGAIN.

In the beta version, has the bug solved that both luxury and strategic resources were tradeable without a treaty?
I haven't experienced this in the beta lately
Might it be that you're using a Merchant culture? Their new passive ability allows them to trade without treaties.
@@arkalis_ yeah i was merchant culture. w..what..???!! Isn't it the bug..?? Thanks to feedback.
Can I play Humankind with my brother if I play it from pc and he plays it from ps5?
Do I get the sole game, or what Dlc is worth getting?

Could you elaborate on said balance issues for beyond earth?
"Oceans are now battlefields" meme here :)
It's been two years already? I still haven't got the game.
I kind of want to play this JUST so I could play as pirates.

The new naval fights are a ton of fun. The different ships makes it unique and forces you to think more tactically when in engagements.
