Winter Fly Fishing on the BOW RIVER in Downtown Calgary [SCOUT'S RUN? Calgary, AB, November 2020]
Winter trout fly fishing on the Bow River near the old CBC building/14th ave bridge down to the blood-vein pedestrian bridge in Calgary, Alberta, Fall 2020. Parked in the community 2hr parking near a kids playground. I didn't catch anything but I found a nice run that could be interesting to fish in the summer!

Got everything i need to go later this month.
cant go far so i'm sticking to inside Calgary as well. am i allowed to fish wherever downtown? my main points of interest is prince island, around the zoo, and fort calgary.
are those areas fishable?
Check the current regulations but as far as I'm aware yes the entire downtown area and north and south of it are fishable - but there may be special no fishing rules near the wastewater plant East of downtown. The locations you mentioned should be good :). I wish you luck! I have a video on the Bow River Killer with some great tips

I've always enjoyed fishing the Elbow more than the Bow . It's more scenic and you don't have to walk as far between holes. The Bow can be great if you have a boat or go down South .
Good to hear Scott- I feel the same. Though at some point I do have to check out the South Bow...

There is a Deep pool past the 14th street bridge at the end , Big spawning Brown trout sit in there in the Fall , 10lb 12lb size!! .
If you go down the Bow, 1 mile from the Highwood River in the Fall is wicked fishing, flies, Caddis, Grass hopper, Black Leech, Zonker, Getting in can be a Bitch! farmers won't let you pass through there land to the river, so park car at HIGHWOOD RIVER and walk down river.
Hey John, thanks for the info! I wouldn't want to target the spawning fish but if there is a nice pool there that is good to know! I don't quite understand what you mean by at the end, do you mean at the south end of the bridge on the East side? No worries if you don't want to be specific! And for Highwood, I've heard good things about that area lots of fish! I need to venture down that way sometime!
@@RosinFlyFishing Right were the Peace Bridge is, but they might of wrecked the pool building the bridge? but big Brown trout would sit in there, not spawning, on there way spawning, it was a holding pool. Mice on the fly rod at night works!

nice video. I saw a spot too after the ramp its in front of the pizza place where you exit to Crowchild Tr South. Its a nice bend and a nice run. I see a few people fishing on that spot as there's an island in the middle that merges.
