Tomo is the secret weapon. He always is when hes in a video playing with others. He never over does it and is tasteful and about the song, nothing else. No ego.
i picked up my guitar before watching starting to watch the videos to pick up some licks but ended up listening to whole thing without even touching the strings, just enjoying and taping my foot. matt and tomo what a conversation

thanks for posting it Tomo, didn't know you had your own channel but have subscribed accordingly. Both of you are great guitarists, also enjoyed your work with Eric Gales. Very nice of you to promote Matt's new CD, I have it now and it's quite the beast. As Yogi Berra said, "If you don't have it then that's why you need it".
You'er very welcome! I am loving his latest cd myself!! I am gonna be playing with him at Natick, MA tomorrow 3/14th and Narrows, Fall River on 3/15th. Thanks so much!!!! Glad that your got Matt's new cd!!! facebook.com/mattschofieldofficial?sk=app_123966167614127
After finding out about Matt Schofield only about a month ago I'm pretty impressed with his playing.. and finding out he does Organ trio stuff ...then I know that sounds like sounds that came from Robin Ford and the blue line.... I'm hearing a Robben Ford influence here....... But he does seem to have his own technique and style of playing just the same....
Tomo, saw you and Matt last night at Chan's (also a few months ago in Natick). Enjoyed EVERY second of both shows but especially enjoyed the jazzy sound last night. Hope to see you both again soon! Steve Flint

@@TomoFujitaMusic I’ve been enjoying your series on the Levitt book. I’m 64 and completing it and maybe going further has been on my bucket list for years. This is helping so much, I’m a few pages into the second position. I’ll have to look through the other parts of your site for the blues comping ❤️
We are all blues Brothers here… The blues sounds better in the key of B-flat on the guitar. It is more blue. The black keys are the blue keys. What a beautiful conversation they are having!
No magic! A lot of commitment to music, learning instrument. Pure hard work! Our approaches are very similar. Feeling the chord changes rather than thinking scales. So not what scale? What chord changes? Can you hear the chord changes?
Mostly pentatonic. I know that Schofield preaches to build lines around the major third of whichever chord he's playing over in a standard blues progression. But like Mr. Tomo Fujita said, it's important to follow the changes. You don't want to be playing the major third of the I chord when the IV chord comes around because that will sound horribly dissonant, or the major third of the V chord over the I chord, etc. Check out the video here on UA-cam entitled "Matt Schofield Sophisticated Blues" for a good bit of cool ideas. Hope that helps!
As good as Matt is Tomo is just god. Jazz frasing, blues feel, great comp( Matt did a great comping also), point on voicings.... Plus his tone is son dry that all of the dinamic come out his fingers!!!
Matt sounds the same on any guitar... that tone is in the fingers for true! . Tommy has some nice jazz licks for sure but they are somewhat generic and not signature... but Matt sounds Schofield!!
TomoFujitaMusic Thanks Tommy I was not trying to compare two great players but just wondered how a personal sound or style can be formed and become signature... it always amazes me!
@@jazzattak First of all his name is not Tommy. It is Tomo. Secondlyl. His licks are far from "generic" as you stated. I mean can you be anymore disrespectful to a true guitar hero such as Tomo Fujita?! It's amazing, the cowardice of you assholes behind you're computer screen's typing away with anonymity. Then you try to reply to him being nice while you were rude as hell to one of the greats and a class act. Something you obviously know nothing about. Which is why i decided to comment to you because Tomo is too much of a classy guy to even let you know how much of an asshole you are. After commenting that his licks are generic, he still was nice to you in his reply. Maybe you should take a few lessons from the great Tomo Fujita in guitar and in life lessons. Rant over. Don't bother to respond because i won't be reading it.
