In an interview Chris said that this song came to him in full form - music and vocals while driving his car. He got home and recorded the song ideas on handheld tape recorder, then the full demo on a 4 track in his basement next day

I was in my second year of college when that album was released. It was the soundtrack of that year for me. One of my favorite songs of all time is The Day I Tried to Live. I still love it.

Burden In My Hand to me is one of the most esoteric basslines ever recorded on a rock song.

I can remember being 12 years old, listening to Superunknown, and feeling like Chris was singing and screaming into my ear. You can hear the spit flying out of his mouth on that album.

And totally agree about ‘Tighter & Tighter’ being an underrated song - it totally belonged on Superunknown and fits more with the sound of that album than DOTU. Vocals through a Leslie Speaker etc.
