It really amazes me that despite the low budget, this anime still managed to be really good. It's *super* adorable too.
Fun fact: Originally, it was just going to be a hastily-made anime for a mobile game. IIRC the director/writer of the anime, Tatsuki, got free reign of what to do with the series as long as it had cute girls as animals, and he decided to go all out even with the show's limited budget. The quality speaks for itself.
The quality also speaks for itself in the second season. Kadokawa execs removed Tatsuki from the production (they said he went over the boundaries of creating fan content for the anime, although most people think that they just wanted control over the golden goose). And, well, it went from the most-revered shows out there to one of the most-reviled. Tatsuki went indie, and his indie anime done after that sold thousands of copies.
Point is this: if you have a series whose success depends almost entirely on its creative staff, TREAT THAT STAFF AS IF THEY WERE YOUR OWN CHILDREN.

The story and animation make this anime unique, it's been five years since it was aired as well as the death of the penguin Grape-kun, thanks for posting the first episode. It is very nostalgic to watch the series, especially all the girls.

Kemono Friends is definitely one of those somewhat underrated anime, its animation is not the best, but definitely its story, characters and seeing how they created it with so much love and care, makes it definitely something beautiful, honestly since I saw it in 2018, I will always consider it my favorite anime

Safe to say… Both this anime, and the multimedia franchise it’s a part of both changed my life. I met a lot of good friends as a result of it, and I kinda grew as a person from being around those people as well. So… Thank you Kemono Friends.

Every new piece of media doesn't have to be groundbreaking and change the entire landscape of the media.
Sometimes, something simple and nice is enough.

No... I have no idea what you are saying but this is what they come from.
These girls (except Kaban because she's a human) are Friends, or Animal Girls. They are born from sand Star. They were originally animals, but turned into girls by it. The sand Star also made Ceruleans, which are techinally a threat to Animal Girls.
