I would say that for a first build when you're figuring things out as you go along, to get the basic systems up to make it into a livable home (heating, electrics, basic plumbing, bed and couch etc...) It can take around 6-12 months. Of course this depends on whether you have other responsibilities, whether you're working full time, depends how many hours per week you can spend doing the van. If you're adding some extras and you're diy'ing them (DIY roof rack, more complicated plumbing or you're doing something that less people have done so there are less examples) you can easily expect to spend 2 years on the build. So starting in May 2021, you might finish by the end of the year, or end of 2022 or anywhere in between. Or you could get the van livable in a month or 2 (if you solidly work on the van) and then live in it whilst your finishing it 🤣
superb job on the window framing, but what a lot of customisation to achieve the desired effect. But well worth the effort as it looks great. best wishes to you both.
Thanks, it was tricky to figure out, this was honestly the most straight forward option on the table we had, that fitted our needs. 🙂 As for the full door, that's for next week as a) the video would have been 30mins long and b) we're kind of still painting it - you'll see 😉
I love you're videos 😀 I am intrigued what you are going to do and how you go about the build " Thinking outside the box " 😁 Always pleasantly surprised and van is looking fantastic 👍
Hi, this video is really useful thanks!! Did you have any issues with moisture from the small section of window you framed over? We’re looking to do the same thing (frame over the black section of the glass).
Great job on the window box!!!!
Cheers! We are quite happy with it 👍🙂
Your attention to detail is excellent, well done 👍
Thank you, we think cacti help with the attention to detail too 😂
That’s a great job that you guys have done there. 👍👍😊

It certainly took a bit of thinking outside the box, especially since we couldn't build a box 😂 But we definitely enjoy the result.
Thats very good it looked a tad complicated but end product looks 👌, would have been nice to see full door in this video though.

No problems as far as we know, we stuffed soft insulation in every possible gap around the window frame - that should keep things dry. 😊👍
