    What a fantastic trick. I love this type of magic because it’s not a gimmick or a stooge - it’s just years and years and years of hard work. It’s pure skill and craft. When that emotion hit him, I saw all of those years and ups and downs of life flash back in a wave. It all led to that stage on that night. And he did it.

    I'm an amateur enthusiast. Studied under Mark Wilson and Nani Darnell at the Magic Castle back in 2014-2015 and saw many, many performances there.
    What I realized over time is that there's a kind of magic that is disappointing when you know the secret gimmick, and then there is your kind of magic- the kind where it doesn't matter if you know the secret, because of the hard work and skill required to carry it off so well. A regular audience might not be able to tell the difference, but anyone who knows a bit about magic will understand why it's simply a joy to watch you execute those moves so well. Truly mesmerizing.
    And sharing your trophy with your teacher in heaven brought a tear to my eye, made me think about my teacher Mark Wilson who died several years ago.
    Thank you for sharing this with us.

      Watch how he picks up the box to set it back on the table . one hand goes inside the big box. That's how he lifted it up on the little table. The rings were already dropped into the small box and never inside the napkins to start. I had to go back and rematch it to see though. Excellent work.

    • @dontpokejosh
      @dontpokejosh 4 роки тому +6

      @@OneOut1 I did the same. The fact that, like P&T I was following every perfect move and still didn't see how the big reveal was achieved and had the same reaction to Zed just shows how perfect the misdirection, pacing, and timing was! re-watching and seeing anything new will never take away from that fact!

    You know what I've just realized? Penn and Teller are the most brilliant magicians of all time. Oh, but not for obvious reasons, no.
    They invented a show that basically lets them be actual spectators in a magic act, again. If you are a Magician, even though you're doing what you love, there comes a time, like it did for them, where even though skill can be impressive, you really do know how most things are done. So they dared all magicians in the world to fool them. What a fantastic way to be a child again.

    • @life1alert796

    • @jamesnye9372

      There's another reason they're the greatest magicians. They've achieved success beyond what any two magicians could ever dream. At this point, they and Copperfield are just racking up the score boards for currently living magicians. And they decided to take their success and spread the wealth, introducing the world to so many great magicians through this show.

      do you expect it is a fake box? So the lid can be closed and a ribbon already around it but the rings can still go in through the flap on the end? Would he likely have a 4th fake ring to pretend to drop in the big box? or how does the ring he held get in the closed box tied with a ribbon?

    • @voidremoved

    Lol that tease Penn pulled was so convincing even Allison went 'Oh no" at the beginning, that must have been an emotional rollercoaster to go through when he did a 180.

    Followed every move until the small box reveal. Was expecting to see the 3 rings only. Felt like a gut punch but also glad that I was absolutely fooled. Amazing performance and skill.
