  • Quick video showing how to replace the UV bulb on the Aerus Air Scrubber by retrofitting the cell for easy access. Also works on the Induct 2000. You can replace the entire cell if you so choose to, in which case, you wouldn’t need to modify the cell, as you would be replacing the entire thing.

    This was an excellent video. Thank you so much. It was so easy with your instructions. This saved me $90 for a house call and an additional $300 for changing the UV light bulb that costs $28.

    Thanks, just paid $140 for a new cell with enclosure…will be trying this next time. The HVAC folks wanted to charge me $450 to do this for my unit in the attic. Unbelievable that for $30 you can do it yourself!!

      Just got quoted $504 per - with two units they want $1K to replace! Previously they said $800 each. So I've been saying, naw, I'll pass!

    Very GREAT video I just bought a Air Scrubber and had installed with new furnece, so this info will be helpfull in 12 months for me.

      Just keep mind the unit comes with a 2 year bulb. I’ve come across quite a few that have burnt out a month or two before the two year mark, so monitor it periodically once you’re getting to the two year mark.

    Just replaced bulbs on my Air Scrubber by Aerus. On mine, the white hexagonal cell is only held in place by 4 tabs (yours has 7) and is flexible enough that I could grab one end with fine needle nose pliers, bend it up slightly, and slide it out. Reinstallation is the reverse process.
    I'd also add that when changing the bulbs, turn off power to your HVAC unit at the wall switch or fuse near the unit. The plug for the Aerus power supply shorts out very easily, which burns out a fuse on the main control board if the power is still on when working with the Air Scrubber.

    • @victork3397
      @victork3397  Рік тому

      Yep. If the plug comes into contact with metal, it will blow the fuse. Good point. Putting a piece of tape over the connector could work if no off switch was present at the furnace.

      @@victork3397 couldn't you just turn the circuit breaker off?

    • @bientay1232

      i think i just did exactly that, because my unit will not come on anymore after unplugging without turning off power first. Do i need another plug, and if so where can they be purchased?

    • @DrBilly90210
      @DrBilly90210 Рік тому

      @@bientay1232 On my HVAC unit, there's a circuit board that's visible when the outer sheet metal cover is removed. On the circuit board, mine has a 3 amp "mini" fuse that blew when the AirScrubber unit shorted out. The fuse is a purple plastic type, typically found in automotive applications. If your unit has such a fuse, remove it and inspect it, If the wire inside is melted/disconnected, etc., the fuse has blown and your HVAC won't work. Take the fuse to an auto parts store and they should be able to find a replacement.

    Local air conditioning and heating companies suck and so does Aerus Enterprises. I called these guys up and they told me I could not order replacement parts, what a scam.

    Hi Victor, Great video and guidance! Very generous of you. Thank you! My husband just installed a new Air Scrubber Advanced unit. He used a 24-volt transformer and the plug-in route. The LED indicator is not lighting showing that it's operational. Uh, oh. Per the instructions, he ensured the safety switch was depressed. Any guidance would be most appreciated. We live in the boondocks and it's difficult to get somebody out here. And, I am wary of the service fees and product markups noted below. Yikes!

    • @victork3397

      Is the 24 volt power source AC or DC? Did you check power right at the jack that connects to the air scrubber?

    Doesn't the honeycomb produce peroxide ion and needs to be replaced?

    • @angrytrees
      @angrytrees 6 місяців тому

      This is my question too -- how long does the honeycomb last?

    • @victork3397
      @victork3397  6 місяців тому

      Good question. The cell will continue producing the ions as long as it is intact. It will begin to deteriorate and fall apart. Will be less effective, and would be a good time to replace if you notice this.

  • @philipurso1601

    I work for the company and the complete cell unit needs to be replaced. The proprietary coating on the hexagonal matrix degrades with use, same as the bulb. This is a cheaper solution but the efficacy of the unit is going to suffer and you are not going to receive the benefits you expect from the unit.

    • @victork3397
      @victork3397  4 місяці тому

      Thank you for the comment. I agree the titanium dioxide honeycomb cell does deteriorate over time. However to me, it stands for reason that if the honeycomb is intact, it can still be used. I have seen these honeycomb cells literally crumbling to pieces when removing the entire cell. Those I would not reuse.
      Maybe you’re able to shine some light on the expected lifespan of the honeycomb cell? I know the bulbs are rated at 20,000 hours, but I’m curious about the titanium dioxide portion. Does it have a longevity rating?

    • @philipurso1601
      @philipurso1601 4 місяці тому +1

      @@victork3397 Titanium dioxide is what is used for traditional PCO units which provide a local purification effect, while ActivePure uses a proprietary mix of metals as a spray coating onto the honeycomb matrix that creates the active molecules that fill the indoor environment and provide proactive purification outside the unit. That coating quantity is designed to match the UV bulb lifespan for the entire cell assembly (honeycomb matrix and UV bulb) to be replaced every 2 years. The integrity or appearance of the matrix itself is not an indicator of cell assembly lifespan as the matrix is made of more durable material that should hold up for years longer than the bulb will emit optimal light or the coating remains as a catalyst.

    Can you share information on the screws you used?

    • @victork3397
      @victork3397  Рік тому +2

      I used what I had on hand. The screws used to drill the rivets out were self drilling screws with 1/4” hex head. The screw used to replace the rivets were fine thread self threading screws, also with 1/4” hex head. Use what you have on hand. If it holds it tight, it will work. Good luck.

      They come both ways. Ozone and non-ozone. Usually it says on the cell when you pull it out. I’d go with non-ozone if I had to choose.
