I found the top half of a skull on the mud flats, took it home and e-mailed the police. The 2 local plods turned up and moaned I had moved it, could be a crime scene, took it away for forensic analysis. No concept of tidal mud flats. Anyway a year!! later the local museum phoned me and said it was 2600 years old could they keep it.....
Thumbs up on the digital composition. Being an old porcelain addict, I'm so glad to see you doing something with the shards. If I had access to gorgeous shards like you do, I'd be making bird baths and walkway stones and table tops, etc. My yard would be covered with shard art instead of yard art.
I love the digital art!!! You should do some merchandise like that. I absolutely get so tickled with your friends failed contraptions. His mud shoes out of tile a while back and then his cart today. It is literally side splitting comedy. I look forward every Sunday for a new mud-venture with you. Thanks Si for never disappointing. ❤
Si you without a doubt have the best channel on UA-cam. I appreciate your production quality and history of the things you find, that must take quite a bit of work! Cheers from the US!
I enjoy your videos with these guys. One can tell you are all having fun. I like the blue shard you found at the beginning. Wouldn’t it be great to find the rest??!😊
Do the U.K. people use ‘refrigerator’ magnets? You could take some of your shards and have a nice small product to sell/give away. Over here, if you have kids, you must put the honored item on the fridge for all to see. ❤
I enjoyed your muddy outing with Mat and Sean! I have always liked that you pay attention to the pottery shards you come across (I collect English pottery and porcelain), so I really liked the digital art you made with some of them!
With all that heavy walking in the mud, being out in the cold and the rain, I’m sure you fall asleep before your head hits the pillow! Well worth it! You got some fantastic finds! Thanks again for an enjoyable lark!
Hi Si I love the bottles especially the bottle with iridescence. And some lovely pipes too. The jars are stunning and an excellent find. The skull seems quite sinister and sad because it maybe as a story behind it. "R White's" really goes back so many years. Really being spoiled seeing the fabulous treasures from the Victorian era. Oh wow I love the colour of that bottle with the beautiful blue colour and the swirls. And what a brilliant idea you have for the Pottery shards.
❤ love it when Matt is with you in a video. Really miss his humor since he’s moved! Good video as always. The history you guys share is so interesting.
Another fabulous hunt for the Three Mudketeers!!😂 Interesting little fact many people don’t know but when Charles Dickens ( the Author) was 12 he was sent to work at Warrens Blacking Factory pasting labels onto shoe polish bottles. His Father had been imprisoned as a debtor so the little bit of money Charles made helped feed the family. It’s fun to think that maybe some of the bottles you find might once have had their labels stuck on by the great Author himself. I too sing “ R Whites lemonade “ tune every time you find one!!😂 Happy New Year Si here’s to a great Mud lovers year!
In Photoshop, when you have a label/pattern cut out like the London one (on it's own, blank background ( I like to put it on a 5000x5000 pixel background)) go to edit drop down menu and select Define Brush Preset. then you can paint with it as a brush in any color you want.
Watching from the US. Another great video full of neat finds! Some of those bottles that are just missing the tops would make some unique vases too!! If I had a florist shop I would buy them in a heartbeat!! God Bless!
Love seeing you and the crew, some lovely candle glasses and shrapnel, pipes...squelching in the mud, last cream lipped pourer my fave and your digital art is great. Thankyou Si
Mud keeps you young forever Si! Lovely adventure with your pals. Don't forget to tell what the police says about the skull. I think your postcard looks brilliant. Muddy greetings from Germany!
Excellent as always Si, thank you for sharing your hard work with us. I love the idea of a post card. You need to take the pipe queen there. Smashing again Si, till the next mudventure then.🍁👣🇨🇦
This one was so gloopy…I admire all of your fortitude to keep slogging! I really love your upscaling, cleanups and artwork. You are one very talented individual!! Just love your vids!
You all found some amazing pieces of history! I imagine the worst part of these trips is cleaning, not only your treasures but your clothing and bodies! That's a lot of muck! Fun to watch though! Cheers to the new year!
Good morning Simon! Thanks for another amazing video 😊. I would love to see that beautiful piece of broken plate sanded down to just the middle section, so it could be hung on the wall or displayed on a desk. It's got such a beautiful scene. Too bad the whole flowery outline is not in tact. Great finds as usual!
Si, I have an idea for a gift for your blonde pipe queen friend. You know that broken blue and white china fragment with the guy smoking the very long old clay pipe that you found?, maybe you good enlarge that scene on your computer to make a cool looking print for her to hang, or make a magnet etc. I wonder if she ever found a piece of china with someone smoking a pipe before. You gave me the idea when I saw you making that collage of finds on your computer screen in this weeks video. Thanks as always! 😊 Adele, from Pennsylvania, USA
Some great treasures at this location, Gents. Amazing, unusual and long-stemmed pipes you found there. Love the little pork pie ink pot, Simon. It would feel creepy to pull a human part from the mud. : l Fantastic and fun digital art you did, Simon. Results are only limited by your imagination, yours being unlimited, thus very inspiring. ( :
No rain, no sleet, no hail, mudlarkers will avail!! What a day, in all that mud! 😱 Found some really pretty pipes, bottles and shards, Si 👍 Definately looked like a quarter bit of human skull...will check in to hear the update, of course 😉 Thanks for the tag-along 🥰 hello from Denmark 🌸🌧
Thank you so much for another great video Simon. It was definitely entertaining. The stoneware finds and the pipes were my favourite. So nice to see Matt out with you and Sean . Looking forward to your next video. Have a great week and please keep safe. ❤️🇨🇦
Awesome findings, SKULL 💀 owwwwwoooohhhhh .... Awesome bottles cut . Lovely digital photo. 👌 I would love to see ..... cut pieces of the ceramic pieces with all the makers mark or the pictures and arrange them in a frame .... would look awesome art piece . Enjoy With love from SAM Guwahati, Assam, India 🇮🇳 ♥️
"If I were Britannia, I'd waive the rules." Great finds. Makes a cold day worth while, ya? I'm surprised you didn't keep that WHITE bottle you picked up (5:21) to cut down for Nicola. But she may have kergillions of those already. 😄
Last year The Scottish Detectorist found an amazing pipe bowl of people playing cricket whilst detecting the ploughed fields of Perthshire (it was an eyes only find not a detecting find). Yours is equally amazing. He also found a different Masonic imagery bowl too. I love the history you both find in your separate fields which we just don’t have here in Australia.
Love all your videos Si. Here’s a tip from a beachcomber, save a milk jug or two (or three) and fill them with tap water to clean yourself up a bit after your muddy adventures.
It’s always fun to see what you discover on these adventures. I wonder if the carved bone shown at 34:49 was once part of an 18th century knife handle? I like art you create from the old transfer fragments. It would be cool to have some printed on coffee mugs. I just got my copy of Mr Sandy’s ‘Mudlarks’ yesterday and can’t wait to read it. Wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Thanks for watching Mudlovers! If skulls 💀 and history are your thing, you will wanna watch this ua-cam.com/video/8KFRdl41Dcg/v-deo.html 😮
If it's a skull, the person is over 25 years old. The skull completely fuses at 25. Cool find!
Why is the mud so black underneath
That is quite an island, spooky and sad, yet fascinating.

I ♥ to watch The mud The nature The laughs The friendships The finds The teasing The northernlights in bottles The art Please continue with it all 🤩😍
Thanks so much! Appreciate that 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love Sean's contraptions (even when they don't work too well)
It probably would have worked if he had used a wooden handle from a shovel or such.
He does love to scratch built wacky stuff! 😂
Would it work better if the wheels were more like training wheels on a bike?
It needs to have a wider stance with bicycle wheels

They had to hold it for a year in case somebody came forward to claim it ? 😂🍻
Wow 💚💚💚
I am so impressed that the three of you stuck at it! I have never seen so much mud, thank you for taking us with you, Happy 2023!
Cheers Jake! You’ve got to love mud! 👍🏻🐾🧡
