  • Jan Frodeno faced over a year out of the sport with injuries. Having won everything from the Olympics to the Ironman World Championships, Frodeno's final hurrah saw him take on Kristian Blummenfelt at the PTO US Open where he proved he will forever go down as one of the greatest to ever do it.
At 41 years old, balancing the mind and body is not easy. We joined the German legend in training as he prepared for one final season at the very top.
In this series, 'Uncharted' goes behind the scenes with the world's best triathletes in training as they prepare for the toughest, most competitive races in professional triathlon.

There will never be another like him again. You are the best, both in character and pure talent, and there is no one like you, Jan. Triathlon will never be the same again, but your past memories will always keep this sport alive. Long live you king

Not sure about character, making up lies about Kristian punching him in the swim of the PTO race was lame

Why would Jan retire - even at 10% fitness he would be worthy of a wonderful race. The man is the image of our sport. LEGEND OF THE LEGENDS.

I see where you're coming from and agree 100% he is the GOAT and such an incredible inspiration. I do think it would be wise for him to retire though just for the fact that, inevitably, sometime soon he will decline and people will see him get beat by Blu and others. As it stands, they came in while he was out with illness/injury and wrongfully took his throne. He came back and defeated them when it mattered and that is all that people have seen. As of now he has absolutely nothing to prove. If they see him start losing to them I think it will pull from his legacy as being the greatest of all time, and just be a painful, downhill path for him.
If you follow boxing, he is basically at the exact same point Mohammed Alli was at after defeating Joe Frazier in their third fight. He should have retired then, he had absolutely nothing left to accomplish. But he kept fighting and it just got harder and harder to watch over time.

from one hand would really love to see him on some big startlines in 2024 some star dust, more battles with the new gen. on the other hand, not sure he will be on his prime and he does look as if he had enough, nothingbto chase anymore

11:00 - He simply leaves his Canyon in the street with no lock -> the most thrilling moment of the video for every Polish person XD

That's his coffee shop and it's famous among cyclist/triathletes, who probably know who he is. There are probably 20 eyes on him and his bike an any time once he rolls in.

When everyone is stuck on the same level Jan shows and proves that there are levels beyond, even to the ones who thought that they gonna learn Daddy how to f**k.

This ex pat South African remains the greatest unless Blummenfelt wins Kona. Second best would be Brownlee with double Olympic gold unless Blummenfelt wins gold in Paris. I am however highly suspicious of Norwegian athletes given the number of athletes recent dominance in triathlon and athletics from such a small country.

Jan will never match the GOAT: Kristian Blumenfeld.
