In this video, I'll show you how to wire wrap a bead on a headpin - which is a basic jewelry making technique that's great for everyone to know!
I'll show you slowly step-by-step how to create a wrapped wire loop for a beaded dangle. One of the keys to a successful and straight wire wrapped loop is the 90 degree angle trick that I demonstrate here. Keep that in mind as you wire wrap and you're well on your way to perfecting this important wire wrapping technique!

It's been so long since I have worked with my beads I needed a refresher course. Now if I can stop being all thumbs I might get these earrings made for my friend. Thank you so much for going slow cause I can't move as fast anymore.
I have watched lots of video tutorials for bead wrapping and have never been able to get the wrap around the pliers and re-position bit, your video has the best explanation and step by step guide that i have finally "got it",thank you very much

12thDecember Thanks so much!! I appreciate your feedback - that's really nice to hear :)
Love that the instructions are very easy to follow even for a beginner like me, thanks. I always had the problem of one loop being too crooked or smaller than the other.
What a natural teacher!!! You are awesome - clear, easy to follow - can't wait for more vids!!
I've watched many tutorials on this, and this by far was the best! I think now I'll get the hang of it! Thanks!
Finally I made a nice wrapping. I’ve never been able to get it right until now. Thank you for posting this video. Now I’m going to exercise with cheap wire and plastic beads 😂.
Lots of love from Denmark. 🥰🇩🇰. Lene

Thank you . . . I FINALLY get it! So much easier than anything else I've seen (and I've seen a lot!).
So glad to hear that!!! I remember teaching myself from a book (before internet + youtube of course) and it was so confusing...can you imagine?? It took me forever but I finally figured it out. It was like I had conquered the world :) I'm so happy to save someone a little bit of frustration!
JewelryTutorialHQ . . . I've been making/selling jewelry for over a year, and just agonizing over this wire wrapping procedure forever . . . never thought I'd figure it out (by book or tutorial). It's like a little light bulb went off when watching you do it . . . I can finally make my own findings now (well, maybe . . I'll be practicing and re-watching, I'm sure!) Thanks so much again!
fariss brown Yes! You can do it!! Practice, practice, practice and very soon it will be second nature. You are so very welcome :)
Just brilliant - thank you so much for teaching me this technique as a complete novice.

oh hi! So great to have you here 💖
Great tutorial. Easy to follow instructions. Very helpful.
excellent. great camera work. love it.
Wonderful. Thank you. Each time I watch the video, I learn something new.
Nice video. Nice presentation.
I found this rather helpful as I have been practicing my loops
Superb tutorial, including the close-up visuals! Thank you so much--these pearl dangles are gorgeous! Question: At about 1 minute 42 seconds (as you were wrapping) you stated "now is the time to add something else if you are going to". Being new to beading, what else would you consider adding at that point, and is there a visual example (perhaps a weblink to a photo of an example)? Thank you again.
Clemmie King Thanks so much, I'm glad you found this helpful!!
You might want to attach the dangle to a link - like a pretty ring - or to a piece of chain. You can wrap the dangle directly onto the chain (instead of using a jump ring to attach the two together) by simply sliding the link or chain into the loop of your dangle before you wrap it shut. You can also attach the dangle to other wire-wrapped links if you want to make a longer dangle earring. Here are a couple of examples:
www.etsy.com/listing/119514408/purple-amethyst-pendant-charm-sterling The bead is wrapped onto a link here. The link is a solid ring, with no opening, so to attach the dangle you have to wire wrap around the link. You simply slide the link into the open loop at the point I mention in the video, and then continue to wrap the loop closed.
www.etsy.com/listing/81771064/long-white-coin-pearl-bridal-dangle The pearl at the bottom of the earring is a wrapped headpin, like I showed in this video. The two pearls on top are wire wrapped links - since they have a wrapped loop on both sides.
I hope that helps! Also, if you are interested, I am putting together a complete Wire Wrapping Video Course that's almost finished! I go over EVERYTHING in depth like this and by the end you will be able to make a ton of different earrings, necklaces, and bracelets! You can find out more here: jewelrytutorialhq.com/courses

Fen Rafael Thank you :)
What gauge of wire is the headpin Jessica?
Hi Linda! It's great to see you here :) The headpins I'm using in this video are 24 gauge. The technique will be the same for any size , though it may be more difficult to wrap larger gauges. Choose the headpin size based on the beads you're using, depending on the size of the hole. Thanks so much for stopping by!
What gauge headpin did you use?
Hi! So sorry for the late reply. Those are 24g sterling silver headpins.
Hi, Great tutorial, NurseTara04 guided me to your channel
What gauge headpin is this.
24g (.5mm) 🤓
What guage are these headpins?
Fulla Sugga These are 24 gauge headpins (.5 mm). I also use 26 gauge (.4 mm) quite often for small gemstones :)
This was great! Thank you for being so detailed - so very helpful! :) just sub so I wouldn't miss any of your videos :)
