    The moderator slows down neutrons so they react with more atoms of uranium. The coolant is what converts heat into steam which is then converted to power via a turbine generator. By itself a reactor produces no useable energy but heat. It is essentially a different hot rock than say a coal boiler.

    Just a recommentation to save performance: Use crafters to automaticly craft any essence that can only be turned into one thing to permantly produce it and dont bother the system with constant crafting requests. AE has improved, but crafting cards can still create issues. So dont use them, when it is not need. Also, in other applications, you save the crafting step, if you craft stuff permantently

  • @rosysummersky
    @rosysummersky 3 місяці тому

    For things where a precursor resource just produces a secondary resource and does nothing else (essences, raw ores, etc.) don't use AE2 autocrafts. It'll swamp your system and cause lag and is not hard to automate in better ways. For essences in particular you should check out RFTools Crafters which are much faster than AE2 can ever hope to be and do not cause nearly as much lag as a bunch of autocraft requests. You just tell it "craft this recipe when you have the ingredients" and then pipe the essences into the crafter. Then you can pipe the actual resources wherever you want to store them.
    (Also would recommend using AE2 storage cells instead of drawers, they seem expensive but they're really not, very easy to automate, and much more flexible. Definitely use the cell workbench to partition them)

    • @AdroSlice
      @AdroSlice 2 місяці тому

      Procurement, Processing, Autocrafting. I highly agree on not conflating the latter two.
      About using cells over drawers I have mixed feelings. Yes, it would probably cut down on lag and reduce the number of storage blocks, but from what I can tell it is not nearly as brain-dead-easy with these to dedicate a certain amount of space to one resource and have it void the overflow, leading to a risk of flooding your storage with too much of one resource. I know you can partition your cells and apply an upgrade card to void excess, but that seems significantly more involved than placing a new item into a drawer wall that is already prepared with stack and overflow upgrades.
      An alternative approach to storage drawers I've recently come to enjoy is using highly upgraded sophisticated storage barrels. They offer more item types than a single cell, can accept new item types without further configuration and can also be linked together with a controller.

    Another option instead of using plain red stone is the red wire. It can be placed on the side of the reactor works just like redstone dust with out having to build full blocks on the side of the reactor. Though, you do apparently have to have a jumbo furnace to make the red alloy or get in to ender IO and make redstone alloy.

    • @paulelderson934

    One nitro thermo generator on a blaze block creates ~10,000 FE/tick (much less without the blaze block). I have my Refined Storage computer making them on-demand. I made 100x of them and surrounded my whole base with them in a giant circle. That’s 100,000 FE/tick just from those. I feel like this reactor you made today would be fun to build once I get uraninite automated.

    Chosen: "That would trivialize power production. Let's go with Bigger Reactors."
    Bigger Reactors is probably the most trivial way to make power. No explosion risk, no leaking radiation, not even really any fuel processing. Just dump in fuel, if not enough power make reactor bigger. The biggest complexity is writing the Lua script to manage the rod insertion so you don't burn fuel unnecessarily.
    I would have prefered a Mekanism fission reactor.

      Powah is way more effort. Getting to nitro is a hassle, you need to automate and export a lot of resources, use a lot of AE2 channels for it, etc.
      Bigger reactors is basically an upgrade in every way except for space efficiency.
