- When Modern Warfare 2019 Edition first released, and Activision confirmed the return of MW3’s survival mode, there was a lot of speculation about whether or not this new rendition of survival would be able to compare to the original game mode in MW3. When Modern Warfare 2019 first released, I was so excited to get my hands on survival mode. Back in MW3, it was by far my favorite way to play the game, more so than multiplayer or traditional spec ops. But of course Activision went and made the gamemode a Playstation exclusive for the first year of release. But after a full year of waiting, survival mode was finally released to us Xbox and PC players on October 1st of 2020, and after seven months of having the gamemode, I feel like enough time has passed for me to have an accurate opinion of Modern Warfare’s survival mode. Did it live up to the hype? How does it compare to MW3’s survival mode? Is the gamemode even worth playing at all? Join me, as I answer all of these questions and more in this video.

i enjoy it too, but i havent played it in favor of the 2019 one. i blame being stuck to xb360 for it since i cant be bothered to buy it on pc with all the dlc again.
@Joe Kickass they should since the 360 one did, my favorite maps are sanctuary, offshore, boardwatch, gulch, oasis and as a special mention, liberation and black box are huge. all of them are considered tier 5 maps cept offshore being the only tier 6 which starts you with sleight of hand, an acr, c4, a pred missile, and 750 armor.

The other MAJOR problem with mw2019 survival (and spec ops in general) is that you can't play local splitscreen in that mode on consoles like you could with modern warfare 3.

Better yet where is 4 player co-op with survival on any cod?! 🤯 blows my mind they've made so many different zombies...
A lot of games are taking this feature out. And I don’t see why.

yeah this is ridiculous. I guarantee a good amount of those people that would’ve potentially played the mode were expecting to be able to play couch co-op style (myself included) and now probably aren’t ever going to try the mode because of that. Dumb move by the developers if you ask me
For solo play MW3 wins hands down. The levelling up and unlocks, map variety, chaos mode (dlc) were all awesome and kept me playing for months. MW is a sweat fest, only 8 maps and weapon unlocks are tied to MP.

Might I add that the tactical and lethal grenades and the amount that you can carry in MW2019 is so ridiculous. God, why can’t they just do a good job? I literally wanna fund a dev team to make a standalone MW3 Survival-inspired game, I’m begging for one. Favorite PvE mode.

The reason for the gun tilting is because in real life u can't look down the sights with night vision. It's to make it feel more realistic

I just started playing mw3 on my ps3 again I find a partner on survival mode so quickly right now at this point in time, it’s actually insane
Mw3 was way better I survived 115 waves in modern warfare but in mw3 you can’t get passed wave 50 that easily. Pulse just get the jug suit and that’s it in modern warfare.

There will never be a game like MW3 again. You can not even compare MW3 survival to anything. Nothing can touch the spec ops/survival on MW3. MW3 is a beautiful game. I still watch some of my friends who go live everyday playing survival, world record holders, and they have never stopped because that game was IT! Long live mw3!
Great review! I was obsessed with MW3's survival mode and I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't like Modern Warfare's survival mode as much. I forgot how many different enemies and maps there were in MW3 and it felt more balanced. Hopefully they'll expand upon survival mode in Modern Warfare 2!

Nah cod at this point has gone full bullshit. The UI in mw2 is a joke, it's literally made by hulu devs. They want to milk the new cods like a streaming service and put most the effort into milking cash out of people and less on intuitive gamemodes

The fact that you can’t play couch co-op on MW 2019 is completely asinine by the developers. I never played the game mode because of this. What made MW3 survival so special for me was being able to play it for hours with my brother on split-screen without us each having to own a copy of the game. I bet there are a lot of others who wanted to do the same but can’t so ended never trying the mode
I’ve used to play MW3 survival at lot on my Xbox 360, but now I’m reliving it on my PC. IW’s OG Modern Warfare Trilogy has aged so well and it shall continue to live on. 🔥🔥
The reason you couldn't aim down sights in that mission is because you have night vision goggles. You can't aim down sight in those.

I find MW2019’s survival mode kind of boring… not much variability between the AI opponents, just the same guys over and over. I think Jug has been buffed, but I remember running out of ammo trying to kill the Jug… I like how it is in MW3, much more fair.
They also updated this but I hated how each wave started you couldn’t access any of the crates, but now it’s just for ammo.
Damage is also atrocious in MW2019, I hate relying on the free armor crates… always just finishing a wave, running to the killstreak location, and getting 2 armor crates and an ammo crate. So boring.

Been getting back into mw3 survival after so many years and been loving it. Sucks to hear that MW survival solo isn't good, I have no reason to play MW then, maybe campaign
Mw3's survival mode was legendary to me, it's it still my favorite call of duty after so many years.
I never played modern warfare but it looks fun too.

Mw3 is great, and actually requires skills
The Warzone version requires Jugg in order to survive
Warzone dose have it's benefits, like more gun attachments, more maps, and requires team work in order to survive
In the warzone version you need 200R mag LMG and an assault rifle with 100R (slightly of hand this will be your quick reload weapon) and FMJ for the lmg (Idk if it's benefit to have FMJ but I'd assume so)
Some maps on the warzone version are impossible to survive high rounds unless you're Juggernaut (I'm taking wave 190+ without the armour you may as well quit)
Warzone Cons
The Chopper: Do I say more, it's the same as the mw3 just more buff and more damage, but that's fine but unlike mw3 the next round continues with or not you've taken it out and it kills quick
Spawn: I know you said it but, when you load in sometimes your still on load screen while being shot at and by the time you are actually in the game 2 or 3 members could be downed including yourself
Warzone's survival isn't split screen and that pisz me off It'd make a great two player mode
It's easy to cheese just go on a map where a building has one way in (don't include parkour the bots don't jump across gaps, so ladder or stairs)
The Sentry is on a timer in the warzone version unlike the mw3 survival
Warzone's survival fall damage (They did change this but not for a while) but it was really bad you couldn't fall 4 feet without diying

Actually good kill streaks
Ammunition/ armour box
Wide range of weapons (although every has a certain loadout/play-style)
Please add anything I missed but that's my opinion anyways
Bit late but in reality you don't need a lmg or assault rifle or jugg suit. Shotguns do the most damage against jugs in mw 2019 survival. Just pair them with fmj and max round capacity. And try to max out the range on them, along with molotovs and stim. Molotovs act like a monkey bomb from zombies, say a friend is down you can throw in front or behind you and the enemies will back away giving you time to revive. Stay close to the killstreaks and buy armors also go for a riot shield for the later waves makes suicides non existent along with shielding you from the helicopters.

idc what nobody says but mw3 spec ops survival mode is one of the best features in ANY cod game next to zombies. 😁

Dude you forgot to mention that there is a DLC map That and it is difficulty level is VERY Insane
and it Spawns you in with an ACR 6.8 W/ ACOG & Shotgun Attachment which includes 12 Shotgun ammo Predator Missile, 750 Armor (Normal amount of armor is 250) 4 Flashbangs, 4 Grenades, 5 C4, Sleight Of Hand Which is the best perk in MW3 Survival, and also self revive
And at the Very start they throw Multiple enemies at you And among them are Suicide bombers ALOT OF Suicide bombers And the very first boss round throws a Helicopter And Extra - Armoured Juggernaut at you
You get the point BASICALLY it's hard
MW3 by a mile....easily! I'll exclude my 2000 word rant about the latter version I'll just say that it shouldn't have been added to the game when they clearly didn't give a shit about it's success! The endless possibilities this game had~
hate that you cant get guys dropped in, remember getting a GIGN riot shield squad and holding a building down while getting mauled by a dog with c4 on it? just the cool shit like that, wish they still had that
MW3 is the GOAT haha I still play/stream that game all the time and I post my World Record Survival runs (best is over Wave 300). Anyways awesome stuff bro! Smashed the like for sure! :)

Currently there is a bug to where you can't access the weapon cache, and idk if it's everyone but me and my friends can't

2024 and I still love playing solo survival on MW3. Machine pistol for BRAAAAAAP & Shotgun for close quarters fun.
MW2019 survival is ridiculous on solo! No pause, super aggressive enemies and the supply caches are only available in between rounds

Wave 120 (2.5 seconds)
Wave 130 (1.5 seconds)
Wave 140 (0.9 seconds )
Wave 150 (0.6 second)
Idk the numbers beyond that I'm only going of when I played up to wave 156, basically you can't go AFK or you'll be JFK
And for solo players you can no longer pause the game to stop the rounds continuing, They changed it but you use to be able to pause and the game stops now the round carrys on
(it might still work if you go in on offline)
2024 MW3 survival mode is still fun as hell.
I wish someone would make a custom zombies map for black ops 3 which replicated this mode
Co-op in the original modern warfare 3 survival mode is probably the best game mode I've ever played especially with friends or more accurately my father so I think it probably wins but to be fair I've only seen the first part of the video

Hey if you turn off your night vision goggles in zamir cave you can aim down sights and use your actually scope. Makes sense and I actually liked that about it

MW 2019 has more of a challenging style of the Survival Mode, whilst MW3 Survival, it gets challenging overtime and different maps
Black ops 2 was the best hands down and still is everything about it and zombies with the witches house was the best still till this day

Ohh man..i was sooo hyped for MW2019 survival mode. Wen i finally started playing though, i just got wrecked by the AI! It was not fun at all. Secondly since i was playing solo in private match mode, i didnt get any XP so I couldn't level up my weapons or create loadouts so that sucks. I loved the campaign and i went through it thrice. I freaking loooved the way the weapons feel in MW2019. I thought the best way to enjoy the gunplay further was by playing survival but boy was I wrong. I mean on 4th wave you got guys with PKM machine guns and RPGs!! Saying that i was disappointed would be an understatement. MW3 survival was damn fantastic. If these devs come up with MW3 survival but in this new engine and with these guns and turn this into a standalone paid game, I would buy it. But knowing Activision, thats never going to happen.

Payday2 is harder and balance if you have a good build and know what your doing
10:03 you cant aim down sights with the night vision on, its probably possible but the recoil of the gun can get you, night visions are sticking a front little bit so maybe thats why i dont know about the smgs tho

Mw2 was amazing rust was absolutely class and the game play on solo was insane was so good and mw3 was amazing for survival mode etc but black ops 2 is the hands down the best ever the guns the maps how you could create you’re own custom clang tag picture and zombies the with the giant and witches house was so so good!!

Also you can't compare these two game modes because if you listen to what he said during the time stamp i provided, it can't compare. i quit cod after all the changes and downhill fall that came with ghosts and so on. Yes the new survival has so many weapons attachments and blah blah blah. But here we are still talking about mw3. 11 years later.

30 seconds?! wait till you reach 50+ or 100+ it reduces to 15 & 7 seconds respectively 😶😶 what follows when you don't let the last guy live a bit so you can reach some station to buy is a nightmare on a different level. Survived 145-ish waves last night with a team of randoms it was a brutal 3.5 hours.

In 2022, (on Xbox) I’ve only found 1-2 people on mw3 survival.
Hopefully for people who have mw3 and a Xbox will see this, I won’t shout myself out, but maybe we can gain a little community for Xbox or pc and just drop your gamer tag and we all add each other that way we can have people to play with. just an idea. But I really love this video, it helps a lot! keep it up

For me, MW3's survival ruined other survival modes in shooters. Like I do enjoy others, but I get burnt out on them faster. It's a shame AW's and MW 2019's pale in comparison.

I played survival om MW when it came out and you couldn't buy ammo mid round at the beginning, also survival as a timed exclusive is dumb

MW2019 sucks because it's actually too easy, despite the guys who throw a rocket in your face as soon as they appear. When you score $7000 you can get the juggernaut killstreak and then the game is over. You'll make enough kills to buy a new one, and so on and so forth. With some strategic playing you're unlikely to ever lose - even in solo. The enemies don't get tougher - there's just more of them. You could literally play forever, which is boring.
MW3 is a much better and balanced game because of your strategic options. The enemies get faster and become bigger bullet sponges from round to round, so you have to implement all sorts of strategic tricks and glitches to survive in later stages - including spawn kills.
MW3 is so much better than mw in survival if gou dont think so get checked
