SHE FINALLY KNOWS DEFEAT! Thank you to everyone who hung out in stream during my many, many Malenia attempts. I spent about 3.5 hours over two days trying to get her, and I'm convinced your patience and optimism kept those numbers from going too much higher. Despite some unfortunately timed Waterfowl Dances and misread inputs (special shoutout to whatever the heck happened at 5:44), WE DID IT and can finally move on to my actual archenemy, the Godskin Duo. I haven't decided yet! I really want to try Sekiro with harp but I'm not sure if I'll be ready for that challenge right away. We'll see how demoralized I am by the end of ER haha

You were naked & got caught in her Waterfowl Dance in her 2nd phase with only a pint of health left, but I automatically get one-shot by that attack… WITH heavy armour on… and with Radahn’s Great Rune… and about 60 Vigour… and the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman equipped… on normal New Game! Fucking *H O W!?!* This game can really test what little nerves I have left, y’know? I don’t think it really matters all that much, because the fact that you beat her is astonishing; excellent work either way.
Thanks! And I think it might have something to do with a recent patch. I had been dreading the fight because the only ways I knew how to dodge Waterfowl was sprinting, bloodhound step, or extremely well angled and timed dodges...and I can't do any of those things with my current setup. But it turns out that now you can pretty much outroll it with just forward and backward directions if you have a light equip load. So yeah, it's not just you because I had a similar experience to you when I fought her months ago!

I mean, as far as heavy armour goes, I mostly go for Radahn’s Lion set because it’s light enough for me to carry a few more things, but just heavy enough to at least give me SOME poise & defense. About the only time this worked, was when I beat her using the Nagakiba +25 with the Unsheathe skill. It took me a few tries, but having said that, on my 5th try at the boss, I’ve seen her do her Waterfowl Dance ONCE! Still doesn’t mean she’s not a complete pain in the ass, because she is. Still, patch or not, I’m at least glad you won. You guys are more experienced than I ever will be.
Honestly, she's annoying when she does the dance a lot (for obvious reasons) and also when she doesn't do it often because then I'm just anticipating it at all times. And Radahn's set is fashionable asf, good choice 👍

I've never been able to dodge that scarlet ghost attack at 5:53 consistently. The visuals just don't click in my head or something. But after hearing the audio for dodge inputs, I can actually see how that works lol. That's incredible.

Congrats! You made this look so easy... I've given up on this boss despite killing every other boss, and you went and poked her to death, no skill, no magic, no summon, with a harp! I don't care if it took you hours to learn the fight, it was beautiful (and very stressful) to watch. That Waterfowl that almost killed you... Let's pretend it was on purpose to shake the audience! On a side note, the soothing harp sounds matching your inputs... Better than any pad on-screen display. Uh, I almost want to try... What's "dodge" though... As a heavy shield/heavy armour user, I'd have to re-learn to play the game, because dodging has never really been part of my kit. You're the total opposite so what you accomplished is even more impressive to me^^
I can't imagine trying to do this fight with a shield! I feel like it'd be so frustrating because she'd gain her health back so easily. If it's any encouragement, they've made a number of changes to the game since it's come out; imo, this fight is a lot more manageable now than it was on release. Of course, it's still not easy but at least it's better balanced. I believe in you!

She's the shield hard-counter, more than any heavy weapon boss.
I still can't even beat her without other players' help, much less naked using a harp. You must have tried this a lot to not get all nervous and choke like I always do.
Yeah, it took a while! And it also helped that I died A LOT to her during my first (regular controller) playthrough. She's been nerfed a bit since then, so the fight was actually not as bad as I remembered
When you said "It's gonna happen" I got a vietnam flashback to the 80 million times I did this with a fast roll build and was wondering if the AI decided to kill my run because I was one inch too close or not.
Ughhh, yeah, it seems so unpredictable sometimes with how close is *too* close. Not to mention, sometimes she decides to do it only once and sometimes she spams like 3 in a row idk

your a legend and you should in the next elden ring game as a side boss. You use your harp to play notes that come to life into whatever and tries to kill the player, or something like that. Keep it up though good job!

Yeah light roll has more Iframes now and travels way further! You can dodge Waterfowl semi-consistently with a light roll spam!
I love how wearing no armor has just become the defacto uniform for Malenia slayers haha. Also the spacing at 3:48 was so good. Well done!
