You can tell 80% of the crowd aren't even real fans of Tim and Eric...because if they've been keeping up with Tim Heidecker (On Cinema / Decker..and his Andy Kaufman-style stand up), they would not be yelling "ERIC! ERIC! ERIC!" to be honest, as much as I was a big Tim and Eric fan and even saw them on tour nearly a decade ago now...I like Tim's style of comedy even more now. I like Eric, but Tim Heidecker is literally one of the funniest comedians on the Planet right now....these people are still yelling "shrimp! shrimp!".
Mark Hazleton I agree. I'd put the whole On Cinema universe over Tim & Eric. Tim's style of comedy is way different than Eric's from Cooking with Tim, to On Cinema, to his Trump Vic Berger stuff.
Mark Hazleton lol what a hipster. Tim is no where near Kaufman and is no where near the best. He’s a cliche kid comedian. His only good work was on cinema but to get an idea of who he really is try and bare through his podcast or his h3 interview. Just terrible.
+Ernesto Hendrix He plays with the crowd, they're part of the show, that's what's so great about his act. People (jokingly) hating on him or yelling "SOMEBODY BRING A SOUND GUY NOW" is hilarious lol. Do they also think he's actually mad at getting his picture taken?

Oh man i bet people who didnt know him were pissed. Hahahah but damn that would get annoying people yellin shrim jim and eric in your face for the rest of your life.
Nothing is funnier than the people in the audience that don't know that Tim is 'bombing' on purpose. They think that other people will join in with the heckling, but other people know what Tim is up to... so they are probably thinking " hey why aren't other people supporting my heckling? " This is comedy genius.
oh timmy yer a funny chap I've had to pick ants out of my ass for the past 2 hours, so this comedy is a nice little "haha" for my evening, a cup o' tea and a Hugson Chapman Salami Sammy. Thanks guy -swampy
For all of you idiots who don't know what Tim Heidecker is all about: Anti-humor is a type of indirect humor that involves the joke-teller delivering something which is deliberately not funny, or lacking in intrinsic meaning. The practice relies on the expectation on the part of the audience of something humorous, and when this does not happen, the irony itself is of comedic value. Anti-humor is also the basis of various types of pranks and hoaxes. The humor of such jokes is based on the surprise factor of absence of an expected joke or of a punch line in a narration which is set up as a joke. Alternative comedy, among its other aspects, parodies the traditional idea of the joke as a form of humor. Anti-humor jokes are also often associated with deliberately bad stand-up comedians. tl;dr - Tim Heidecker is funny as fuck, but his jokes go over the heads of most people.
dude I wouldn't classify this particular act as 'anti-humor'. It's more of a parody of the 'amateur, hack comic'. I'd go as far as to say not much of Tim's (or Tim and Erics') stuff is technically anti-humor. In a broad sense they are basically parodists. Here Tim is parodying hacky stand up comedians. On Awesome Show they parodied public access tv style and content. On Decker/On Cinema he's doing a 'celebrity republican' type of character. Their 'mood pieces' from Awesome Show could definitely be considered anti-humor. Also, analyzing their entire oeuvre one can see that comedy itself is their favorite subject to parody.
Garry E I can see that you touched on the idea of 'comedy as a subject for parody' in your description of alternative comedy. I have to start reading comments more thoroughly before I reply!
I'm a fan of his television work, but he's not capable of stand up and apparently hates most other comedians, especially those who inhabit the comedy store. So I don't think he cares tbh🤣
Balls of steel to get heckled the entire set and still stand up there and intentionally Bomb 👏🏻
Awesome to see this in front of an audience that isn't in on the joke, and that makes it so much better
What makes you think that they’re not in on it?

Imagine not knowing this guy's shtick is awkward humor. They fed right into it.

okay but if you think about it, "great job" is actually super related to him specifically

You can't do Tim's style of comedy and get sensitive when the crowd is disruptive, it comes with the territory.
