Holy shit, I had no idea this was a franchise. I played the first one over a decade ago, back when Flash games were still a thing. I'll have to look into this.
Hi Mack, I wasn't expecting a good review in such a short video. I'm glad you surprised me, made me recognise that short sweet simple and satisfying still exists.
Cant get enough of Kingdom Rush. Awesome TD franchise. Ps, the pixelation can be fixed by changing a setting in compatibility under the application properties.
i would like to hear the answer - here are a couple that i have really enjoyed in case it is helpful - Bloons TD6 and Gemcraft (Chasing Shadows and Frostborn Wrath)
I have played a couple of the other Kingdom Rush titles on mobile and enjoyed them so I chose to purchase this on Steam last night because it avoids the microtransactions of the mobile versions. Once again am thoroughly enjoying it. I have no problems with the visuals or gameplay. 8 out of 10.
If you like Tower defense i recommend 'No creeps were harmed TD" & "Emberward". I played the demo. this could be a gem, I still have to play the full game but i will "soon". Kingdom rush is sitting in my wishlist for ages...becaus there is alway something else and this looked so mobile-ish.
to say its the same game with a coat of paint on top is really disrespectful for all the work the devs did creating all the new heroes, towers, level design, art, new mechanics, etc etc
@vinvoius But it is? Mechanically there's very little new to justify the price tag. It's basically DLC expansion for a niche indie game genre that's charging well beyond what it should. I'm not even saying it's bad, I'm saying it's not a good value proposition.
@@tubey84 to be fair, I also think that the price is a bit salty, but I don't think that the game has little content, specially on steam. you also need to take into consideration that there's already a confirmed free update coming for this game in october, with new heroes, tower and levels, and if the developers take the same route they took with vengeance (which received countless free updates), this update in october will only be the first of many
Does this game have locked some heroes or towers? Only avaible buying it with money or everything in the game can be unlocked via playing the campaign???
The first few KR games are some of my most played games, well balanced, tight and challenging. They tried something new with Iron Marines which was ok. Everything else the developers have done tho has been disappointing. 😢
Mack / guys, what's your favourite TD game? I'm looking to sink my teeth into a good one, but I haven't found one that's really grabbed my attention since the defence grid games or, more recently, Marz TBD. They're all too pixel art for me these days, which I'm not a massive fan of... 😢
@@georgi1905 jup and the maps are just worse, having 2 heroes is a bad decisione this is supposed to be a tower defense and not a real time strategy game
Love your videos. Have you played the SurvivalScape demo on Steam yet? Great little game, very inexpensive if you decide to buy. SIngle Dev, very responsive to comments/suggestions. I played the demo and then bought the game.
People often hate on anime artstyle games, but lets be real at least they actually look good unlike this lol. This just looks very corporate, rather wait for a better tower defense with better maps. I'm sure one will come out eventually.
not best in the series but good. however too expensive regarding to long to beat (5 hours only). If you don't know other games in series start from 1st part
I've always enjoyed the Kingdom Rush games, and this one looks like no exception. They're just plain fun to play, and have enough depth with the hero and power upgrades to make you want to replay stages at least once or twice. Later levels can also be quite challenging, so figuring out the most efficient combo of towers and heroes can be like a puzzle.
Not your fav franchise? Isn't kingdom rush the cornerstone of all TD? Ive also played a ton of TD and KR i thought was always the best of the best. But my all time fave is dungeon warefare 1 &2 and of course the orcs must die franchise.
Very dissatisfied and disappointed they could’ve done so much more hope they add new maps and stop making towers pay to win some of the maps i noticed were copy and paste from other games idk it just felt like a half ass
Yeah, to call it 'pixelated' is putting it mildly. I don't get it, they have released prior KR games for PC and they were much better looking. It is almost like there is something wrong, seriously.
Everyday it looks more and more like the channel is only focused on random obscure indie games; nothing wrong with that but sad to see no reviews of some relevant AA or AAA games too.
Its too short, nothing to do when you finish just repeat levels. Towers are meh.. previous parts were better. Upgrades are wierd, heroes are already seen..
No dude, you don't understand anything. On steam you get everything. On mobile you don't get everything included, half the stuff is behind micro transactions. That's the difference. You make an better deal if you buy on steam.
Just another delusional studio that releases a mobile game on pc for a high price. While the game is ok, it feels like i am playing kingdom rush on Armor games 15 years ago. They haven't evolved the game into anything interesting and they did not make it for pc. And the fun aspect of the game is not evolving your strategy or finishing the game to get more challenes....no, it's all about doing the same thing with different heroes and towers over and over...
He likes Tower Defense. Not very many games in this genre are of quality, unless they are the sketchy perved kind lol. Its gotten extremely niche over the years, very obsolete genre. I played all of them (not this one yet) all of them are worth it. Tho spin off turn based one is not as good sadly.
The pixely effect is due to a Fullscreen high DPI bug. Someone on Reddit has shared the fix.
I remember playing the first game on my phone lol
Great to see that the series is still going
Hi Mack, I wasn't expecting a good review in such a short video. I'm glad you surprised me, made me recognise that short sweet simple and satisfying still exists.
Kingdom Rush is so underrated. Glad you enjoyed that one.
No, not really underrated at all, it was the top tower defence game for years.
@@Akutikun What I meant is the fact that no one in the gaming space talks about these games. Big outlets never reviewed them.
I've bought and beaten all of the KR series on my phone. My favorite TD game imo. Be diving into this soon.
What is your favourite tower defence game?
Bloons Td6, Emberward, Hexguardian, Axon Td uprising, Artisan td atm.
Call of duty 36
Anomaly Warzone Earth, Defense Grid, iBomber, Lumencraft, Gratuitous Tank Battles
Only really played one of the old Bloons Tower Defence games in primary school on Cool Maths Games or whatever that site was. 😂

Defense Grid, probably.
I also have a question, Mack: have you heard of "Still wakes deep"? it's a Scottish horror and it's absolutely amaizing.
It looked pretty cool, might have to get it.
Thank you, Mack! I love me Tower Defence games as well. Last time I bought "Ancient Planet" because of you. Now it's this one.
Hi Mack, check out "Cataclismo" and "Fallen Aces". You might love those 2 games
I actually love this series. Didn't know a new one was coming out. Thanks for the review, Mack.

Really enjoyed the game. Only issue was the short campaign length.
no rabbit | no "ol meg" | no jiggle physics yet 10/10

Emberward is a nice little roguelite tower-defense game in early access if you need more games to look at. :D
Mack, are you going to review the full release (1.0. version) of 7 Days To Die? Thanks
I've loved these games for over a decade
I like KR but this seems to have identical maps and graphics to the previous ones. I’ll buy it when it’s about £5
I really like Kingdom Rush, got three of them, but this is the same game again with a coat of paint on top. I'd pay a fiver max.
