There is literally no excuse in the modern day where it's as simple as looking at a YT video to help you if you are stuck on a puzzle. Just design your game like the gamer is intelligent, then maybe offer on screen hints as an toggle option or let them find it out on YT
This is a youtube problem these days. People saying that "graphics looks mid" or "the Witcher 3 looked better" about new AAA games after only looking on youtube are wrong most of the time, this since much of the detail is lost because of shitty youtube image quality.
you are using dlss on top of 1080p so game basically renders in 720p you muppet, that is why it looks like it is and it has nothing to do with compression amazing that this is basically your bread and butter and you still ill informed about it, pretty sure your ancient 2080 can do 1440p without dlss, it's slightly moded doom eternal engine ffs, which can run @4k on your potato
It looks like there aren't stealth "sections," it's just all stealth, but it's exceedingly forgiving. I oftentimes don't like stealth in games, but if it's done right I can dig it, and this game seems to make the stealth more of a cosmetic feature than true "spotted and lose" stealth mechanics.
I would never spend $70 USD on a film so I guess this is a pass. I wish AAA would try making games sometime vs "interactive" movies. I really am starting to believe my theory on gaming is true. We don't get game devs anymore, we get film school dropouts who shift over to gaming because it's an easier industry to join as Hollywood is contracting and dying. Yeah... - you can't close doors behind you, or go under tables, turn off the lights (that was years ago in games) - downed enemies respawn constantly and greet you with a smile even though you punched them in the face 3 minutes ago - they're as stupid as a brick, you can run past any blockade and after a while they're not looking for you anymore - moving bodies doesn't make sense, because enemies often 'see' where your friends fell even if you move the body (lol) - enemies fall like rag dolls - our hero screams so loud after punching someone in the face that it echoes, and guy 5 meters away doesn't even turn his head - cutscenes are detached from the gameplay (there may be a pile of bodies in the room that disappear into the cutscene) - the game is unfinished in many places, made without passion and linear to the point of pain But it's true, it's still better than 90% of games with last 5 years. And that's tragic. Games are over. You can only clone.

A friend of mine told me it was good and i have gamepass so i installed it. Started a couple days ago and the game is incredible, apart from the stupid AI the rest is next level, graphics, story, voice acting, animations, UI, sound, level design, such a pleasant surprise.
But in that time period being a lesbian/gay would be something not spoken about so openly. Whatever. I'll wait until it's in the £5 bargain bin then maybe. I can't stand woke, even if it's shoved at me slightly. Also it's hugely out of place for an Indy story. I suspect the wokeness is worse than ya making it sound. Thanks for the review anyway.
Yeah, this is my issue. If they portrayed being a lesbian in a way that actually made sense for the time, I might be interested from perhaps a historical or writing perspective. Instead it's wish-fulfillment SJW-style tripe.
Two women, who clearly know each other well, are talking alone in a dark, deserted ruin, and you think this is considered openly? Wow. Just come out of the closet and say that you hate gay people, dude. So we can report you and move on.
Those antics are becoming closer to requirement rather than advantage.. gay couples are one thing but points in history can also be presented however they wish
As usual developers promised to fix the AI based on negative feedback of AI being too stupid. Well, surprise surprise.. they didn't fix it. It's the same as per the preview.
shoehorning ugly/mid women in actions game is pretty woke. Even more so when they are gay. It's like, "our main audience is male but i'll force some women in it, they wont be good to look at and they will be gay so you know they really aren't for you, the person that actually buy the game."

Thank you for your honest review (e.g. "opinion") as always Mack! I sort of hoped there would be an instance of Indy pulling out a gun on a sword wielding enemy and says "when do they ever learn", that then starts a massive gunfight as a throwback. Ah well.
You say that but its kind of like reviewing GOT without watching the last two seasons. 1:32 The likelihood that something good is going to end up shit at the end isn't as much of a stretch as you might think.
Game obviously made by lefties and lefties are known for being incapable of keeping their ideology out of media, so obviously gun grabbers would try to punish you for trying to use guns in a game.
I think all of these garbage AAA games have broken Mack so much he is starting to like them. There are so many negatives mentioned in this review yet it gets a thumbs up??? An OK story doesn't give bad gameplay a pass.
I was thinking the same. We're talking about a game, AKA interactive medium, not a movie. If the gameplay part of a game is bad then it fails as a game, regardless of how good or bad the story is.
That just means it's still a worthwhile experience despite its many flaws and annoyances. Graphics, atmosphere, story, voice acting are all top notch. Overall good enough to (barely) outweigh all the pandering to modern audiences.
[Minor spoilers ahead I guess] Good story? Yeah no, I'm tired of the whole "The bad guys have 30 occasions to kill the hero, but instead play some dumb shit with them" trope. Also Indiana has basically super-strength when needed, and just rips out giant metal beam and can lift up a plane with his whip.
I stopped watching GMan after he gave Shadow Warrior 3 a glowing review and refused to talk about firing the voice actor of the first two reboots for being the wrong race.
I understand that they are making games for modern, dumbed down, gamers but the irony is that this is how we got here. I know many of them may not stick with it and give up if it's too challenging for them, but I also have no doubt that many young gamers will actually find the challenges satisfying like nothing they've likely experienced before. I think bringing back old school, challenging games that require patience and persistence, would actually grow a market audience of a new generation of gamers that want what we used to have, but with a better look of course.
This simplification of puzzles reminds me of one of the Valve devs having an interview on their game design choices for Half Life. There was this one segment where they were designing the bug tunnels in episode 2 and originally they had made them more maze like but later scrapped the idea because their beta testers were literally going round in circles taking the exact same turn in the road that they had before rather than trying a different turn to find their way out. This led to a far more linear level design to accomodate
You should have played the old Sierra games, where they pretty much expected you to have a pen and paper and map out the mazes that they had, and they even made the map visuals so convoluted If you're wondering about the opposite end of the spectrum...
Why would Indiana Jones have a ton of Gunplay when he RARELY used guns in the films? I don't understand people with your thought processing just completely ignoring the source material from which it's based on.
MrMattyPlays says the game does NOT tell you how to solve puzzles, unless you take pictures of what you are stuck at, which really surprised him but he found he liked it. He even specifically mentions that Indy does NOT mutter to himself! Weird review experience difference, I wonder if it's a setting somewhere?
Isn't there literally a difficulty option for the puzzles (and the combat)? I've heard that you can pretty much disable all tips, so if that's true, this review's kinda dropped the ball on that one particular aspect...
Bottom line is that it's a bad game but a good movie...so then I can just "watch" it on youtube and be done with it. That is really bad if you ask me. What I really wanted was a game like The Emperor's Tomb or something like Tomb Raider Underworld. I didn't want a first person stealth game with baby puzzles....lame game...
Just seeing the gameplay is often more than enough to know whether you like a game or not. I can tell at a glance that the gameplay here is garbage and designed by people who are not remotely qualified.
I can't understand why big developers spend so much time, money and effort on games with stealth as a major mechanic and then do their stealth so half heartedly. Just compare it to games 20 years ago like splinter-cell/thief, its a travesty.
33 minutes and over 4000 views. Looks like people were waiting for Mac’s review, including me. I’m an old school gamer too, likely close to Mac’s age and also think that most of the new AAA games are utter bollocks. I was in my early teens when Raiders came out and fell in love with the movie so this was a hugely anticipated game for me, modern AAA concerns notwithstanding. I’m happy that the story is king and the graphics are good as I’ll likely enjoy it for what it is. Thanks, as always, Mac for being who you are. The only reviewer I’ll actually listen to. Hey Mack, just curious what difficulty settings you played at? Knowing you I assume the hardest ones. Another review said there are separate difficulties for puzzles, combat, etc. and made it sound like any problem with AI or hand-holding could be "fixed" in the settings. Cheers and thanks for the review!
I saw a playthrough on hard for everything. the ai is completely braindead. there is zero change to that. two enemies right next to each other, distance about 1 meter, one gets a stealth knockout. the other doesn't hear or see anything and gets taken out next!

Thanks, Mack! As always, you're the voice and truth in the games industry, plus you always make me laugh!
That hand to hand, is giving me some light Zeno Clash impressions.
Have you played any Graviteam games Mac? I know you enjoyed the Scourge of War games, one of my favourite WAB reviews! They are similar in spirit to those, historical accuracy, scale, realism etc, but cover more modern conflicts.
02:28 Weimar problems require Weimar solutions.
I personally am really enjoying the game I love everything about it yeah the story isn’t the best and the puzzles are simple but I just love exploring everything and collecting everything I genuinely think it’s such a fun game but I can easily understand why people don’t like it
8:48 was just poetry lol
Don't accept DEI Mack. If you accept it, you will get a whole lot more of it. I and many more hope this game fails.
Its a shame there wasn't yellow paint and an incessant inner monologue to tell you to steal her a plane right now. XD
Mac you are honestly getting really lazy with these reviews. When you start the game it fucking asks you point blank if you want help with the puzzles. You say 'nah I'm good' and don't have to deal with any of that hand-holding. You played the game in accessibility mode and complain it's too easy lol.
You are my most trusted game reviewer.
looks like wolfenstein without the fun.
Surely Return to Castle Wolfenstein then, because its modern iterations are dumbed down and most certainly not fun.
It's bad at nothing, good at everything, great at absolutely nothing.
It's hilarious that the lezbo is so "facially challenged".
I guess that's because they wanted to be realistic... 😄
They don't want to give the male player anything pretty to look at. Or for her to fall in love with the Player/Indy like in nearly every Indy movie. Typical woke stuff- again.
@MartinOReilly-mb4um "wOke WoKe WOKE"
lmaoooo
@MartinOReilly-mb4um Tried of the woke bs and identity politics in video games.
you know where that nose goes.
I remember reading about all the 1937 lesbians that helped bring the field of archeology into the mainstream consciousness in history class. Great stuff.
I remember it like it was yesterday.
They put the deviants into the games because that is half of who is making the games, the devs, and they can't help but insert themselves into everything. Society in general across the world as a whole will never accept them and they can't get over it.
Society has accepted them that's why they are in these positions ruining stuff.
@@TellYouSomethinManthis is a top down agenda. Has nothing to do with society as a whole.
@@TellYouSomethinMan So ruin everyones eleses entertainment
When you say deviants what do you mean exactly?
@@lukeyskywalker1251 Woke people with views and ways that will even harm children.
can you play as the good guys?
what about no kill playthrough?
I was always skeptical about this game, you've just saved me some cash that i can throw elsewhere
Is there a difficulty setting? I feel like puzzle interruptions and guard alertness is easily tunable.
So its a $20 game with $400 graphics card requirements due to ray tracing.
Aren’t there usually settings to adjust the hints the AI give?
How can you tell a story is great if you don't know how it ends though?
Good point. I guess most of it is great then lol
Ending does not make a story, the whole journey does.
