Van Life In The Arctic - PART THREE - Winter Content has always been a huge hit here on Living The Van Life. This winter season, I just was not satisfied with driving to a snowy parking lot and setting up camp. So instead I decided to see what it would take to live in a van in the extreme climate of the arctic. Join me in part 3 of a 3 part series as I drive my 2020 Mercedes 4x4 Sprinter Van to the Arctic Ocean.

You’re not a UA-camr. You’re a film maker. The intro was just extraordinary.
I had goose bumps lol
Like a director, cinematographer.
Oliver Stone, Marty Scorsese, That Chad guy, Stanley Kubrick...
yes it was!!!! wow
I could not agree more. Incredible!
excuse me but I never commented about the quality of the editing or the video other than that it was nice work
The amount of gas money/hours spent/filming and dedication that was put in to this series 🙌🏽 your the Nims Dai of van lifers Chad, thanks for sharing!
I’m going to use the word that gets thrown around way way way way way too often the last couple of years….
FN EPIC.
(Ok two words lol)
It would be so interesting, from a social/psychological aspect, to try to understand why anyone would want to live in such a divorced, hostile and remote situation...other than the tribal reality...who would really want to live that way?
Yeah took him 2 months to post it
Hope he makes a trip to the final frontier Alaska during the summer.
Agreed
To make videography look so easy during a sunny day is one thing. To make it look like a crew is following you through search rough terrain is a step above. Truly talent
Chad, a year ago last July, at 72 years old, I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my neck. I am now living in a wheelchair. I had hopes of traveling around the country to see some of the USA. I am lost for words at this moment in time. You are truly the best at what you do. Your video skills are first class and your music is soothing to my soul. I am living that van life thru you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Wish I could meet you to thank you face to face. Tom Guertin
The photography is outstanding! This series should get an award.
Yessss
Agreed
Абсолютно!
I concur🏆🏆🏆
I did this exact trip 32 years ago in a Ford diesel van, and stopped at most of the same places you showed in this video, thank you for the great memories, what a great video!!
I DID IT ON MY HARLEY LAST FALL AND IT TOOK ME 8 DAYS ,,,ONLY PROBLEM I HAD WAS THOSE BAD MONGOLIANS BEGGING FOR FOOD
Damnnnnn😶😶
Wts ua channel name?
Sorry, no UA-cam channel, there was no UA-cam 32 years ago
Thanks! I always had that adventurous spirit. That was one of many adventures in my life…
Makes me feel a special admiration for the people who built those roads. It’s hard enough to stand outside for a couple of minutes, imagine working out there for months.
Luis Sabathie edited their post which claimed driving a van in those conditions is like climbing a mountain - I in no way disparaged people who work there.
@@JK_Clark Yeah I’m sure you have plenty of experience of doing that in the Artic Circle?
@@JK_Clark He says with his cheetoh fingers hiding behind a keyboard
@@coffeebeans7912 Luis Sabathie edited their post which claimed driving a van in those conditions is like climbing a mountain - I in no way disparaged people who work there.
@@JK_Clark What!?! I edited what?!? Yours says edited, not mine. Who knows what you originally wrote, garnered you some criticism and are now trying to gaslight into a false narrative. Shameful.
Absolutely unreal footage and journey, great effort my guy.
To be perfectly honest, every ounce of hardship was all made worth it by the greeting of that adorable pupper
She was a kick for sure! Thanks for watching!
Your amazing bro kick ass video 📹
Not being able to sit around a campfire gave you time to focus on the finer details. Brother, this will be an award winning video. Way better than National Geographic. I can tell you after being a US Army Firefighter stationed for 4 years up at Ft. Wainwright in Alaska, that you will never forget your time there. You will look back with fondness knowing that you accomplished something few ever get a chance to do. Glad to see you had the chance to view the Norther Lights too. A toast to you brother. Cheers!
I really didn't think it was epic at all I think camping was Steve's camping in a roundabout video was better than this
To think that a guy in a van and a couple of cameras can make this incredible content and make billion dollar entertainment companies look like amateurs. Its just great…. Thanks Chad! Absolutely epic journey!
I'm sure the Hollywood types must really dislike this....
@@theadventurebiker they're too used to their priviledged mansions they'd never survive in an environment like this
@@jebaited9612 Yes. Indeed. But that's not at all what I meant. In response to @Boontjes original comment I was referring to the Hollywood production executives etc in the TV & movie industry that produce multi million dollar productions and operate multi billion dollar production companies. I was referring to how they must really hate how one man in a van with a couple of consumer cameras and a drone can all by himself make the same (and arguably better) content that takes them months (or years), millions of dollars, and a production staff consisting of hundreds of people. They must feel really threatened how he can do this with such high production quality AND get it seen by hundreds of thousands or people with no marketing at all. That must really burn them up.
@@jebaited9612 , You are absolutely right. The Hollywood people would never survive in this type of setting. Nor would they make the trip Chad has made.
Thank you for allowing us to be a part of this journey. It’s so beautiful!
Brought me to tears 😢 I lost my 27yr old daughter to terminal brain cancer last Thanksgiving 2022 and we used to dream of trips like these. Now I am raising her 4yr old daughter and well your adventure gave me something more than just admiration. ❤
Not sure if UA-cam has anything equivalent to the Academy Awards but I nominate this Arctic series you put out (not to take away from your other excellent videos, but this one raised the bar). Just incredible. Loved the pup, too!
I did that exact same trip from WA state to Tuk 17 years ago as a solo female from Africa in a VW hippie van but not in winter, rather just after the first frost on the Dempster Hwy. The colours of the trees and tundra turning were breathless and I took a month going up and returning via Alaska. In those days had to fly to Tuk from Inuvik. Remember eating whale blubber. One of the most beautiful trips I have ever done. Being from Africa, dont really fancy such cold, but can appreciate experiencing the beauty of winter from your video. PS. I swam in the Arctic Ocean where you camped!
Ek het met 'n Toyota Camry karretjie van Bloemfontein na Stellenbosch gery waar daar robots en roundies was.
Amazing 👌👌👌👌
Truly amazing, that dog is so cute and well done for giving it food and shelter 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I am glad you found that dog it's home, I almost thought it was homeless, and maybe you could take it with you. I found a 3 week old Long Haired Jack Russell pup in winter in Australia, 100km down a no thru road, dumped at the end of that road. I rode down there on my pushy, going for a 2 week remote trip, but after finding that pup, stayed a night in the tent there, turned around and brought him home. Went to the vet a day later, got some shot's for him, and puppy milk, and he has been with me for the last 6 years. Most loyal dog, I have ever had. Comes on all my trips, actually everywhere, we are never apart. He is my service dog now, so he can come everywhere with me.. He doesn't like being away from me and frets if he is. It's a good thing you did for that pup you maybe saved it's life, the way it ate that rice, he was bloody hungry, and cold. Thanks for doing that for him..
Your vids are filmed and edited how you'd expect to see something made by Discovery or the the BBC, it's amazing ✌️🇬🇧
Amazing video really good film ı love you bro everytime good product 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤️🙏🏻
@Carlos B Goode 🙄
Congratulations on making it to the Arctic Ocean. The work you put into these videos is totally amazing. Please stay safe. You are my go to watch of excellent content.
That poor dog, he must be freezing. Maybe he wants to go home with you
WTF are vids?
Outstanding series. Definetively an inspiration. Keep the wood work man!
Брат, уважение тебе за то, что собаку накормил и согрел. Человек с большим сердцем ❤️👍
Hi Chad - We are watching from New South Wales, Australia. What an awe inspiring 3 part adventure you have given us. We are blown away by the scenery and the harsh conditions that you travelled in. Your Sprinter Van is a credit to you in that you are able to travel and stay in the most unbelievably cold conditions but you are so warm and comfortable in your Sprinter cocoon!! Your commentary and drone footage is second to none. Congratulations on reaching the Arctic Ocean and the epic journey you completed to get there!! Cheers Julie & John.
I dont know if youtube has awards, but seriously, this series is so amazing it should receive one. Never a bad moment watching your videos, ever. Once again, Thank you Chad for doing this. You have not seen a van life video until you have seen a LTVL video.
I agree
I second…This series is definitely award winning!
Thanks Chad for taking us along with you to summit your mountains. It is a privilege to be able to share these mountain top moments with you. Salute!
Absolutely award winning material. Thrilling even.
That gesture of yours when you went ahead, took that puppy inside and made a meal for the puppy, speaks a lot about how “human” you’re.
Many many many thanks for that bhai (bhai means brother in hindi). ❣️🙌🏻🍻😇
The fact that this type of content is free is mind boggling
Total respect to you. You are the sort of guy everyone would want 'in their corner'. The van was prepared very well but without you all this would never have happened. RESPECT
Father of three daughters, married for 20 years to the same women, I truly appreciate you sharing a different side of living. I wouldn’t change what I have, but I’m so glad to share in what you do. Thanks for all you do! Purchasing my lvtl gear. Keep going!
Well put, same here. 👍🏻

Seeing your Timelapse of the northern lights make me realize what a small place we are in this universe but what a place of beauty it is.
Wonderful presentation of this fascinating land. Thanks for being kind to this little Husky puppy, she looks so adorable n vulnerable. Stay healthy.
Should be on Netflix, plain and simple! Best content seen in years.
The quality of that trailer literally had me speechless. The quality surpasses National Geographic. Kudos to you and can’t wait for more content!
It's unbelievable how the results is outstanding 😳
Can’t believe I’m watching this on UA-cam! This deserves to be seen on the big screen. All the wait for your winter content was truly worth it! Thanks Chad ✌️
That's why I binge-watched the entire series on a 55" 4K TV. 👍
i feel like this should be a show on discovery .. travel channel ... history channel.. insyead of the money pit.. pawn stars ... haunted America u get the picture
amen to these comments! why not?! it's effin great. btw, I can't imagine how you pee or take a dump during the long travel when you're still nowhere near a town or stop. serious question though.
Ikr.. it 4:33am my but should be sleep. But I couldn’t turn it off, this was amazing and breathtaking to say the less. Thanks for the journey 💋
Congratulations on your epic journey👏 Thank you for take us with you.❤️
Greetings from Serbia!
Absolutely love the series . You are incredible, the cinematography, editing and your story telling is amazing. I’m really inspired by your work. I’m 23 and hustling and I promise one day I’ll have adventures like this . Keep reaching new heights chad . Thank you 🙌
These have been three of the most fulfilling videos I've ever seen on UA-cam. Thank you for bringing us all along on this amazing adventure.
I love that upon reaching the arctic ocean, you -- and I'll now assume everyone -- are congratulated by a friendly dog.
One of the best Part of this Movie :D
You know what kind of dog it was?

I am a 50-year-old portuguese man, with a family life and a stable job, who dreams and hopes that one day (not too late) I will be able to live adventures more or less like yours. So, I thank you for keeping my dream and hope alive and living your adventures as a little bit of my owns.
May the adventure continue in you.
Best regards

Hey, Pedro! Thanks so much for watching and your support- Glad to have you along for the adventure- Cheers!
Thanks for letting us follow along on this epic adventure. I was kind of hoping the puppy didn't have a home and you could keep it. It was sure fond of you.
Oops...OK, I guess it is "normal" to see a wandering dog meandering next to the Arctic!...Seems cruel to expose such a vulnerable creature to an environment like that...Good on Chad for caring about the doggie!...shame on me, for commenting before finishing the video!
You and me both! 🐶 She certainly looked like she was a big fan 💕
I literally had tears in my eye when you talked about the mountains that we all climb! you’re a true inspiration to so many of us! Thank you❤️
2023.11.02: Thanks so much for this exhilarating adventure into the wild Arctic! Great video for sure & was especially glad to see a furry friend who came to greet you, he/she came to protect you. That is an immense honour! May you be blessed as you journey along! Cheers! 🥰🥰🦅🦅🦅🦅
I salute your courage, passion and dedication!!! You're inspirational!
Chad you're one brave, fearless and gutsy person. Congratulations on your achievement and always be safe on your adventures.
19:40 seeing that anti "Stuttgart 21" sticker cracked me up as someone who lives in central EU :D.
The dog was so adorable and this lightshow was unbelievable. These winter work of arts are always your best ones.
Huge fan of the channel. I only just started watching you yesterday. but you're living my dream I'm 19 and doing van life. I only have a mini van for now but I built a bed frame and drawers and all that. I think the coolest part is I can decide on everything. where do I wanna sleep, where do I feel like traveling to today. Should stay local or leave the state. It's so awesome living freely. no rules, no commitments no one to tell you not to do something. I think after 18 years of living with a curfew, keeping up with chores, having to do everything other people say. it's nice that I can I be where the hell I want for however the hell long I want.
Wow, just WOW. This is by far the best travel/adventure episodes I have ever seen. The footage is out of this world!!! I have been working as a snowmobile guide above the arctic circle in Finland, so I know that a frozen radiator or sliding into a ditch can be deadly. This is no easy trip. Big thanks for sharing!!!
Stay safe, regards from Sweden
Thanks, Michael! I found so little information out there about traveling in such conditions, glad to hear that you're putting out a guide for Finland. Yes, forethought on all of your moves, the simplest to the most challenging, have to be fully thought out because as you said it's no easy trip. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
Chad, This series is epic. I didn’t want it to end. It had extraordinary filmmaking, music, thoughtful narration, visuals of rare topography, and a cute dog. Props to a superior product.
Cheers Chad 🍻🌅Absolutely jaw dropping...epic filming and narrative...with heart.
The pup may have belonged to someone else but it most certainly wanted to go home with you :(
I agree with the pup comment. It was like, "please take me from here."
The Northern Lights are beautiful.
I noticed that convertibles are not very popular in those places... The arctic light timelapse was absolutely mental bro, awesome job over-all!
Nah, they're a bit drafty. Glad you like it, thanks for joining me-
Chad, this is seriously the best series I have watched in forever. Incredible journey. Hopefully I can follow it one day. Great camera work. Looking forward to what’s next.
Definitely better than anything on netflix this was an amazing series for sure
Congrats man. Awesome video series. That sitting on the ocean giving cheers to the old van made me tear up a bit lol. Safe travels and keep up the good work. I would have taken that dog with me myself. Way to cold. I know they are raised for that but he bonded with you. You could tell. Nobody does that lifestyle better than you. You should be proud. Thanks for all of your work just to entertain us. Cheers!
In my whole time watching UA-cam videos, I NEVER got to the moment that Tears come down on my face BUT this video the beauty of that moment in front of the Arctic Ocean moved me that I started to feel my cheeks are wet and tears keeps coming! Brother you are so charismatic yourself and seeing you there was astonishing! And hosting that little puppy 🐶 was the moment that I would love to shout out that I love you CHAD ! YOU ARE THE BEST ❤️
You are my Hero Bro 😎
You make all the BS I’ve been through in my life seem like nothing
17:35 Good god that scene is overwhelming! A human being wrapped up in all kinds of clothes and equipment, while the grass is there, growing and standing its ground, so quiet. Kinda reminded me of when the Trieste touched the ground of the Mariana Trench down in the Pacific, some 12 kms beneath the surface... and then the crew saw a bunch of fish moving around. Life sure knows how to "adapt and overcome" 😳
This series was next Level! Gorgeous landscapes, gripping moments, the cut off wires at the Gastation.
I watched all 3 of these with great pleasure. Thank you for sharing your epic journey.
The synthwave adds up like a charm Mr.Van life greatjob wish you luck with your adventures
You are a cut above!!! Absolutely fearless! The wind and ice is so frigid yet absolutely majestic!!! ❤
You know Chad back in June of 2020 i had caught covid... well my whole family did sending three of us to the hospital... long story short I was isolated in my room for 5 days after they let me go from the hospital and telling me good luck with over the counter medications... that's when I discovered LIVING THE VAN LIFE...I can go on and on with my boring story but I'm just gonna say Thank You so so much for your adventures... allowing me to experience what I may never get to adventure in my life... thank you brother... much love and KEEP ON TRUCKING 🤘🤘
Very beautiful, especially the northern lights. Wow, what a payoff. How nice of the puppy to keep you company! Great filmmaking. Thank you!

Thanks, Bill! Absolutely. Most don't fathom what it takes to make such a trip mentally. It's a challenge for sure. tt
Chad, legendary film making, taking us to the frozen north, absolutely breathtaking! The northern light display was stunning too. You have taken us to somewhere we would never go. Thank you!
Loved this series. The best content on UA-cam from out of all the "Van Life" channels.
@15:00 you can see a dog feeding on what looks like a rabbit. What a feast. Good show, man. I really digged this ride, I love the winter, only about 10 hours from Canada here. Always wanted to go. Be blessed.
thanks to chad. i got to experience a roadtrip to artic ocean and north with chad in these 3 episodes. the editing was superb. felt like i was with him in his whole journey.

Grettings from Spain.
Absolutely epic video series! Not sure if you remember me but I was on one of your live feeds. I was the guy who was recently diagnosed with myocarditis/congestive heart failure. I've always wanted to do this exact trip. I thought that was a pipe dream for me, especially with my recent diagnosis. This has inspired me to keep pushing to recover and have faith that I will recover from my illness so that I can make this trip for myself. I've set a goal for myself to get healthy and make this trip. Thank you for the inspiration.
I sincerely hope that you make a full recovery and that you receive the opportunity to make this trip, and also that you experience many other good experiences in your life after that!
I hope you make a speedy recovery to be able to do this trip. 🙏
Thanks for this Chad, thoroughly enjoyed it, videography was first class as usual... And relieved the pup was picked up and taken home 👍🏻😉
Wow-this is amazing! Congratulations on climbing "your" mountain, and bringing us along for the trip! Be safe!
felt so bad for the lil sled dog. i know they are built for the weather and cared for, but it just looked like the lil guy wanted to have a nice cozy home to go to.
That was so cute with the dog hiding behind you. He's so friendly. Wonder if her was freezing out there? (probably a dumb question) Glad you fed him, cant help myself I love dogs so much:)
Those dogs live outside in that stuff. I had a German shepherd Husky cross and -35c was a summers day to her. -40 to that dog...was chilly like a cooler fall day to you and I.
I had a Siberian husky growing up and we couldn't keep him inside when we went snow camping. We never got into the negative temps, but he would sleep outside in temps approaching near zero F. We freaked out one morning when we got out of our van in the morning and couldn't find him. A few seconds later he erupted from beneath the snow. He had been snowed over and had a little cocoon that kept him warm.
I kept saying “Bring the puppy inside!” Even though l know sled dogs live outside l still felt sorry for him.
Hey Chad all I can say is amazing incredible awesome never seen anything like it and the northern lights so beautiful thanks for taking us on this incredible adventure That dog was so sweet you sure had a new friend be careful be safe have fun and stay warm 🇺🇸♥️😊🙏✌️☮️🌍

This is the most incredibly, amazing thing I have seen this year, no in last three years. Dude you are amazing, I actually skipped segments the first time, but now I will be watching all three episode again, every seconds of them. You have done it, one of the best travel documentary ever made.
