I was concerned that the game was gonna be shutdown with that title, but this year was rather disappointing compared to last year so makes sense that the player count would drop so aggressively
honestly what this means is pvp is never gonna see another update in a long ass time lmao. they tried once, couldnt get it right and now they will never risk this again.
Its dropping because there is no content... All that's left is HM trifectas for all the "BaSeD" EU boys... I had like 8 months away, came back, did scribing got bored and cba anymore.. we need more team stuff to do
This has run its course. It just isn’t fun at all. Run dungeons, get cosmetics, subscribe just for unlimited craft bag, that’s literally the only draw.
I don't understand why ESO doesn't fix their forums. 1) We don't have a feedback section. 2) Upvotes are invisible unless you first click on a forum thread and THEN mouseover a tiny section of someone's post to see how many people Agree/upvote/etc. Then, there are several different words for upvoting something. "Agree" "Insightful" etc. None of that makes for quick, reliable data to be given to devs. Even the housing community has gone ignored. Except for one girl who always gets the items and homes she wants in game. Everyone else... nothing. No houses we want to buy. No building structures we ask for. Even furniture we have been asking for... for years... goes ignored. Or is put in $30 furniture packs with the rest of the furnishings being useless. PvP, PvE, and now even the housing community is pissed off at ESO. All because we have no way of giving devs feedback.
The devs have done everything and anything they can to drive players away with their predatory monetization and worthless "updates". It is serious deja vu after watching something very similar happen to world of warcraft and blizzard a very short while ago; devs just completely out of touch with the players and just trying to cash in on a popular IP. Sad.
imagine after 10 years tanks still aren't a playable class if you want to fully explore the game, and with no tanks playing queue for dungeons are ungodly long
and it is just getting worse when they decide to things like force more woketardism by selling a mentally challenged nonbinary companion to players in their crown store.
@@andrealasorte7747 I played the game up to a year ago from alpha. I started maining healer and then about 3 years ago i swapped to tanking. last year i just got bored with it and quit all together. the game is bland.
@@Turk3y89 they keep weak skills/sets weak and refuse to nerf op ones there are many fun ways you could play the game but if it's not one of the few sets/skills actually strong there will be an abyss in difference like for example compare any proc damage set for DPS to pillar or nirn, several sets have way more conditional proc conditions yet they do way less damage...and this has been the case since forever it's not a new thing
@@andrealasorte7747 what really killed the game for me was way back in the day when the “One Tameriel” update released. Before that questing had challenge to it. After the level scaling was released questing became mindless.
Literally today I got a popup on steam telling me that my ESO+ has officially run out since I stopped the auto renewal. And today will be the 1st time in years I will not launch ESO (not even for the dailies).
Me stopping Rainbow Six Siege was one of the best gaming decisions I've made. Let go of any sunk cost fallacy you may have. You're better off. Go play some better games.
I left last year… one of the hardest things ive done. I still watch skinny cheeks and keep up on patch notes for some reason, eso just aint getting it right
15 million a month and we get peanuts for updates. Overwhelming Homogenization and bugs. "New" servers worse than the old ones somehow... But if you want to $50 bucks for a reskinned 2003 matriarch pet model, now with more red mist... lucky you. Want a $70 fake house, good news stupid's, this is the game for you. If you want less bugs, responsive controls and servers - look elsewhere. The audacity to cancel things like this and claim money issues. I was not a fan of zos nor was I going to this event, but fk them forever.
blackwood was pretty cool, necrom was nice, west weald is cool too i think , and wasnt western skyrim also after elsweyr? whats not to like? yeah the PVP.... who cares about the PVP lol
@@raafmaat Overall PvE balance philosophy has been on a constant decline since Greymoor and that can be seen in the major decline in player court overall AND end game community decline.
@@RPGandFPS the player totals arent too crazy tho, if you look at the steam statistics alone, they are still higher than before the big influx from the pandemic in 2020, ofcourse 2020 to 2022 were higher, but its still very good, i think place 6 in MMOS (even if you looking at all MMOs , every platform) when just looking at steam alone it would be place 2 or 3 i think
@@raafmaat Look at the player count trend post major combat change. It’s just downward for ~4 years. It has half the concurrent average player count since then. This is also the first time the game has dropped below 10k average concurrent since 2018. Safe to say the devs ran the game into the ground with there constant nonsensical balance changes.
Dang, when Skinny says "...i wanted to cover it, but i really didn't have anything positive to say," then it should be viewed as a code red alert, this is not a drill.
Bro it's like watching a childhood friends slowly declined from a terminal illness and you can't do anything cuz you're separated by a plexiglass barrier this is just depressing to watch.
The unfortunate truth is there needs to be a leadership shakeup to move the game forward in a better direction. A lot of the leaders on the game have been on the game since the very beginning and it shows because what they are bringing is stagnant and uninspired. This goes for basically every team except the monetization team (which seems to be very successful) and the environment artists who continuously put out beautiful stuff. The leaders have had a great career at the game and they can be proud of that, but if they want to see their hard work reinvigorated, they need to move on to new and cool games and let fresh eyes try new things.
It's so sad. They make the strangest choices as a company. Even the recent choice of having us lose a vital if we dc in combat has been frustrating. Little things pile up and drive people away.
0:25 what?? They have made over 2 billion dollars from this game and said recently, they have been making over fifteen million dollars per month since launch.
@jackzepelli1945 330,597 all-time peak and only 6k players in the last 24 hours also only averages about 150 live views on twitch it's been known to be a huge flop the production cost was a little over $400 million dollars and it only made $657 million in sales and they have already stated it won't make it longer than 10 years before it shuts down all together because players were turned off by lighter RPG systems, a voiced protagonist, and writing that just wasn't as witty or pointed in its satire as its predecessors HUGE FLOP
Makes sense, but to be fair ZOS is reaping what they've been sowing for a decade now... (and people aren't allowed to be sad/negative about it cause then they're "toxic" or whatever)
They had 1 chance to save the game by hiring someone who actually plays the game and cares for it ( his name is starting with skinn_ and ends with cheek_) ... and they chose not to do that . After that they stream pvp and ofc it became a meme since he was playing for the 1st time obviously (easiest paycheck of his life) . That sums up the eso dev team . Only rich lambert plays the game in a decent level (from what I remember in his old streams) , the rest are just a joke .
Sad news indeed. Unfortunately due to health issues I cannot travel anymore but I feel for those who were looking forward to this. ESO has a fantastic community and it is major part of why I am still playing the game.
I’m pretty sure that a massive sign that a 10+ years old game is hemorrhaging is pretty serious. What are you even talking about? If they remain on this trend then they WILL shut the doors on ESO to shift assets to their new project.
Thank you Skinny. I guess players are bankrupt/fed up buying $500 mounts. The game has destroyed itself through greed and gauged players into oblivion tee he
This is what it comes down to, for me. i love the game. I still really enjoy playing it. I just don’t enjoy that 80% of the game is locked behind loot crates and purple crystals, so when i’m done having fun, i play other games, where my time is respected more
Things they need to do. Revert the Is templar jabs And damage Revert the arcanist nerfs Bring the original necro back before the nerfs Add 2 more characters to the game. As the game progressed the characters got lame and weak.
Its was very upsetting seeing Brian Wheeler not understanding core mechanics like heavy attacking. Meanwhile The Lord of Cheeks was denied entry to improve matters. Utterly shameful
Both New World and Throne and Liberty launched. Crossplay enabled and deep PVP available. Populations are high, action everywhere. The decline this year is because they now have more competition, and they’ve neglected their own game. ZOS only have themselves to blame.
I'm right there with you, Skinny Cheeks. I'm hearing from inside sources that they're throwing all the cash toward the development of the new space MMO. This is sad because the community in ESO is amazing, but they have gigantic management and dev flaws that they should have dealt with long before now.
I don't even think you have to have inside sources. After being bought by Microsoft, it's obvious they're being squeezed to make as much money with as little investment as possible. And people are leaving. It's become a race to the exit, but I don't know who's going to get there first.
I miss the questing difficulty that was present in the game before the One Tameriel update. I remember in alpha and beta groups of players getting wiped by quest bosses. It was a little easier after full launch and then level scaling removed all difficulty from questing. The game is mindless.
I log in every weekend to play group pvp in cyro for a few hours each night. Afterwards, I log off until the following weekend. I’ve played over 10k hours of ESO, but have lost interest in much of the rest of the game.
This game started its Death March when Gold Road was announced. It's on the long, slow path to inevitability now. Enjoy it while it lasts, I'd expect this game to go on life support in the next 2 years.
But I may not be a plus member. As long as a server is up I can still play as I used all my crowns to buy the expansions as they came out. Hate seeing it go downhill.
This man has put his heart and soul into the game and community for free and yet they pay people like wheeler to work there with no passion . Zos did it to themselves
Unfortunately what matters in the corperate isn't passion, it's how much you can milk from people before killing the game and moving on to the next big thing.
Outside many broken shit in this game, I've stopped subbing last month due to economy crunch and jewelry crafting changes. There is no point in hoarding jewelry from golden anymore, which released over 200 slots in my bank, which I use for mats now. At this point they should give the crafting bag to everyone and increase ammount of crowns / free items you get through ESO+.
This is so felt. That’s the last time I felt like playing was rewarding. Content actually took commitment and had a pulse. It took weeks and months to progress content and teams and groups really bonded to progress. After that the content just felt lazy and unrewarding. Everything was clearable in days maybe a couple weeks. We had teams clearing HM trials while they were still on PTS! That should have been a huge flag to Deb’s but instead they wanted content to be easier so less experienced players could clear. Like everything in life, when things become to easy they just don’t bring a sense of accomplishment. It’s seriously unfortunate.
@@IrishOphidia Personally I lost hope after seeing the combat dev's lack of "combat", it explains everything wrong with PvP and his ignorance towards the community.
@ couldn’t agree more. I remember our group taking Gina Bruno through Normal Sunspire when it first came out on the live server and, while I know she’s not really a dev, I just got that feeling of “This is why this game is so broken.” Even when they hired Gilliamtherogue I was like “Yea this is the guy you should be adding to the team. Awesome choice.” 🙄
@@IrishOphidia Only way people will be heard with ESO is with money though, sadly people won't stop buying crates or ESO plus to force the devs to listen.
Maybe if they’d make the game a lot better and more enjoyable instead of focusing on trash crown store items they’d have enough to fund North America celebrations
They said they 'were killing it' years ago and then shortly after it started to go bad, Mr Skinny. So it's coming gradually year by year to less engagement and financing, but faster than some staple past MMOs. Bethesda hasn't managed to keep up with their clients expectations these past few years either, it doesn't help. I quit this game a few years ago and never came back. I used to get so involved with it, but it became too depressing to continue.
I don't play ESO anymore but I'm a longtime subscriber, I believe I was there for Skinny's first video posted on reddit. This channel/website was a great resource, especially after returning from breaks from the game. I started in Elsweyr and quit after getting Planesbreaker. For me Elsweyr to around Blackwood was one of the best games I've ever played and it started to really decline around High Isle. Like Skinny and a lot of veteran players I was very passionate about ESO at that time and it just sucks what the game has become. But Skinny is definitely a legend and reminds me of the good old days of this game. 🥲
I just really wish that the devs would just try one year to just listen to the fan base. I’ve been playing this game since launch. I don’t really play any other games but ESO and it’s very unfortunate that this is happening one thing that I’ve said to them that they could possibly do is revamp The all the old sets is to have an update that they could just call rise of the Phoenix and revamp all of the old sets that nobody uses. People love this game for all the different kind of sets and builds that you can put together and not an exact number but like 70% are just so old they don’t work that well compared to most of the new sets now. I hope they figure it out soon
Most of those old sets were nerfed on purposes...some repeatedly, in order to sell their newer stuff. They have said they never going to go back n fix things or add things to the old stuff...so we got all we getting in that old stuff till they make something new and it sends us to old locations...but add to those locations or improve anything there is never happening unless something becomes wide spread broken and everyone knows it. If it doesn't help sell the new next thing, then forget it. Most have written it off already, hence the lower numbers....
Still time for the Community to complain about this and find a compromise or force them to U Turn. They aint hurting for money. Thanks for the heads up mate 🇮🇪🇪🇺
It's easy to keep ignoring the player base online, not so much when they have to meet them in person.. so many studios have ignored the majority of their customers.. this year it really has come to a head.. while I hate seeing my favourite IPs going to the wall, I'm happy to see the studios that hate us fail hard, and fold.
Yes you put a lot of hard work into you what you do your Discord is always going off as a member I can say for sure there is just about everything in there that you need to understand and learn to better yourself in the game thank you so much for all of your hard work I can't speak for everyone but I am very grateful to you
I love ESO but with them only adding one story dlc a year is really hurting themselves. The dungeon dlcs do not bring in enough players when most of the player base can’t do them on vet hard mode.
This is typical of ZOS/Bethesda and the rest of them. ESO never cared about American players; only our money in the crown store, constantly year after year they hold events only for there sponsored fans and employees. They invited streamers who lie about having life threatening illness, pay them money and give them free shit. i been telling people the game was being shutdown and it would start after the ten year anniversary. This is just a starting point for them, ESO will be offline in 3-4 years. Companies like ZOS pandered to the left and banned others for wrong think. I said circumcised in chat and got a perma ban, then after arguing with Terry white, the threat compliance and safety executive/manager I got my account back. To say something was too sexual after releasing a topless statue of Dibella makes absolutely no sense. But that is the logic of the Devs and their leader; Bitch Lambert who shit all over players for years. But apparently backing the players was not something the sponsored players could do. Only Fengrush said stuff about banning people for for crit rushing up walls in pvp. Something ZOS knew about for months and still released the busted content. Then guilds like Aedra have the worst types of elitest players, we do a no portal Gryphon Heart and one leader is shitting on another player for not hitting 100k. That player was constantly killing orbs because our orb slayer, a leader in Aedra could not do it. ESO has gotten to the point of being unplayable. ZOS has never showed any love to North American players, somehow in America 20k crowns is worth $150 but in other countries it is only worth $20. ZOS needs new leadership and a new class of streamers who actually play the game beyond the mandatory time ZOS demands for paying them. I played with a lot of streamers who are just not that good at the game and only get sponsored due to politics.
With how toxic a lot of the community is that I’ve met atleast, plus how elitist they are when it comes to trials and vet dungeons, idk if I WANT to meet anyone from that community
PoE 2 is going to hit them hard, considering the way ZoS treat their players versus how Grinding Gears treat their players. I know I just got tired and went to PoE2 and Total Warhammer 3. A lots of us were looking for some kind of alternative, with.PoE 2 and then Pantheon and Ember's Adrift(to a lesser extent), there is zero need to put up with their treatment anymore. The players are the most important part of a game. Zos seemed to forget that in the quest to add more things to the crown store. Additionally, the level of bad will generated by ZoS will adversely affect any game they make in future. 10 years. Over 11k hours played, and all my good memories are tainted by their actions. I leave with a bad taste in my mouth.
Was playing the early access for poe2. The servers have been on fire, different types of crashes. The devs have literally been pushing out patches non stop on steam almost every hour. It's a Friday and after hours, and they're still trying to right the ship. I can't imagine how tired and exhausted they are. Meanwhile zos...
@@glados4765 Same, in EA for PoE2. The fact they have been patching on the fly was impressive. The communication, letting us know what was going on, was nice. Mass rollout and stress test are often 'troublesome', but I have seen far, far worse. Am enjoying the game, though I am finding out I do kind of suck. I never really played PoE1, and I dislike D3 and D4, so the first time I looked at the skill tree in PoE2 was quite the shock. I really have little sympathy for ZoS, they have had so, so many chances over the years to change, to listen to the players and to value them. Creative assembly were actually in a similar kind of position, saw what was happening to their sales and did a complete 180, changing the whole way they interact with the playerbase, which was really nice to see.
Yeah I also been playing since launch and if the game were to shut down soon. I wouldn't complain, I had more than enough time enjoying this game and I had satisfied my fill of it and then some.
I don’t think it’s about the money. I think it’s about the fact they are afraid of the in person feedback they might get while the housing community are pissed about stupid “addition” for them. Made a house to just tell ZOS they dropped the ball.
ESOs problem is it still hasn't figured out the type of game it's going to be cause each update they keep drastically changing things. That's what's driving people away. Not to mention all the cosmetics being locked behind a store instead of being something to work towards ingame. Linking skill styles to achievements was great, too bad you can now buy them in the crown store which means like mounts and everything else cool and cosmetic you need money and I'm done spending (eso plus is the only thing I but) so there is nothing really keeping me logging in cause i got nothing worthwhile to work towards
This game has hit rock bottom and have shown signs of starting to dig. The management team would be out of their depth in a parking lot puddle. The developers have delusions of adequacy. The audience now only follows this game out of morbid curiosity.
People have been saying for years that “ESO is a dead mmo” and sadly, it’s starting to feel more and more true. So much time and fond memories with friends playing this game over the last several years. It’s sad to see it so mismanaged and in decline. Hard to justify spending more cash on it when you see the inevitable end.
Cut funding to a company that is struggling? How do the developers get paid with this idea??? To demand regular updates and new content for free is just unreasonable.
No, they just need to make ESO+ meaningful. The craft bag should absolutely be free, but not ESO+ as a whole. There’s just no logical reason to own ESO+ outside of the craft bag and access to the DLCs without having to buy them individually. That’s it, though. That’s just so shallow and void of any real reward.
Thats very sad news. This was an opportunity for me to visit america for the first time to see you again at an offline event. But maybe now this will never happen. But this message is like an open book how the situation of eso looks like. So many people leaving because of a lot of bad decisions. Endgame and PvP is almost dead because there is not enough content/rewards. I hope they get the tournaround next year. But at the moment I dont think so.
on xbox is noticeable how few players there is currently on even with the last high isle event, I think it might spike with the next event to complete the house and after it'll be the apocalypse..
Man I feel your despondent tone of voice in my core. I already thought it was super weird to have a 10 year event on the 11th year, already thought it was an odd call to put off the US celebration when the Tavern and Amsterdam would be so close together. Feeling neglected about one thing or another isn't new though, just hurts to think about.
Less players than pre covid times of 2018 numbers for players in game at any one time... That's a rough pill to swallow for ZoS especially on their 10 yr anniversary of the game
You should never be upset about not working for ZOS I was in management for decades. No one wants to hire and train their replacement. Your project of revamping the sets was a slap to the devs that they are easily replaceable. When Gilliam and Crazmadsci joined they Bent the knee and drank the kool aide. They did not get that impression from you. That is a good thing btw. On to bigger and better stuff.
My ESO+ renewed back in August and I haven't been on since the first week of July. I miss my guilds, the friends I made, the countless hours I spent grinding trifectas, but after five years and hundreds of dollars spent, I'm at my end with this game. It's bittersweet because of the memories, but I don't know what ZOS is doing and tbh, I really don't care any longer. The potential for something far greater is there, but they want to remain stagnant and uninspired. It will take a miracle for me to go back to ESO and the hope is they realize people are fed up and they do something about it.
Talking about the state of the game, the state of community/dev relations and general player morale at this point just gets me down in the dumps. At this point the only thing that keeps me around is raiding with cool folks I've met in my time with the game, and even some of them are falling off one by one. wooo ten year anniversary...
honestly if we trusted them to save that money and put it towards the game, this would be fine.. unfortunately we all know they aren't. I personally think that the player count thing has ALOT to do with them changing the structure of release items throughout the year. the one chapter/trial/zone, 4 total dungeons, and one small zone made each update feel like a must play (from an endgame perspective). With them dropping dungeons less, with promises game improvement and server issues, I think we were all excited for that at first, but they have not followed through, game feels the same, we just got less content to play now.
I just let my + sub run out. I'm tired of the laziness at ZOS. Everything "new" is just a reskin of the old. It feels like there hasn't been anything "new" in a long time. It really sucks because I've spent a lot of IRL cash on the crown store and invested a lot of time into the game. There's nothing exciting about the game anymore.
Would all those nerfs, looks like they nerfed their bank account as well. I wonder if these idiots will actually get fired, hire some individuals that will actually balance out the game and buff it up some.
I spended almost 400 dollars to roll crates for a specific cosmetic. After that day... I quilted the game. Now I play Warframe, EVEYTHING is free, no need to buy base game, and every Dlc is FREE. Oh and cosmetics are not locked in crates. You just buy what you want.
What they need to do is hire you as a combat developer. I know you don’t pvp but if you saw or heard about that pvp stream with Brian Wheeler the other day just the pure ineptitude and lack of knowledge about basic game mechanics and functions (ex not knowing heavy attacks restore resources) was absolutely disgusting from a lead combat dev lol. And shines a bright light as to why things are where they’re at now and the ineptitude of reasoning behind a lot of changes. Zos deleted the stream because it was actually embarrassing.
I stopped playing shortly after high isle released. I lost my ps4 and psn account in a breakup and my ex went in immediately and changed the password and retrieval information just to spite me. I had over 5000 hours in the game. I wasn't willing to start over with all the time invested and money spent. I absolutely loved that game and the friends I had made but it sounds like it was a good time to stop. I haven't heard great things about the more recent updates. I hope they turn it around for those of you still playing.
If ZOS is that cash-strapped to cancel major public events, the end is probably not that far off. However, I believe the first US event was going to be in DC where ZOS's home office is located? I'm going to throw out the possibility that it may not be money but a major restructuring (lots of firings) imposed by Microsoft after a mediocre couple of years. (It also explains why the 10-year anniversary was such a lackluster event with very little new content except a few skins).
Very sad. I wish they would listen to their players. I love ESO but I had to stop playing this year because it was just doing dailies and being disappointed over and over from mediocre updates that have very little positive impact. I still log in for the cool prizes... but to play the game ? Nah. I dont think I can run fungal grotto even one more time for the millionth time.
People want some big overhaul when it comes to combat systems in this game. Not to the extent of OSRS's move to RS3 back in the day, but something to get the game feeling fresh again and getting players interested in the game. It's stale. There are 10 sets everyone uses and hundreds that aren't used. Beloved classes are left in a bad state or changed for the worse. A system that should have brought live into the game was introduced, but it's not good enough to be used by end game players, so even early game players aren't adopting it unless they play solo and absolutely need a specific skill (other than banner which is the only good skill in the whole line). But I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The devs want to live in their echo chamber that only sings them praises while ignoring actual issues. Arcanist was a bandaid. It didn't address the issues the game had and introduced a short-lived exciting new feature to the game. I'm not surprised events are getting canceled, despite the 10 year anniversary. This should have been a return to form. But instead, it's just been the devs yelling "look at this game that we made!" and the players saying "It's not what we want" then getting banned from their platforms.
Since they cancelled the in-person event, maybe they can host a similar event in-game? It would be really nice if they came onto the game they created and ask current players how they feel about ESO.
Watching the devs play with streamers and seeing how little they knew about the game was a bad move on thier part. That answered the question👉do devs really even play this game? That coupled with the lack of performance in PvP and Pve, many are walking away. Which is why we see games like Elden root coming out which are trying to fill that void. Servers can’t even handle the game and it’s gotten progressively worse. I’ve played since beta on all platforms and I’m now on pc; I play eso maybe four times a week now because whenever I get on the game crashes after an hour. I have gigs speed internet just did a bad and spawned dead in a portal for no reason. It’s frustrating when the game expects you to just move on and recover from thier lack of attention to the game performance. In PvP we ask for fixes and they just throw another pros set at us. Meanwhile everyone just stacks health because blocking through the lag is the only thing you can do
It's sad to see ESO just make one blunder after another, PvP stream disaster, NA in person event cancelation and right as other games are coming out TnL, Poe2, Aoc Alpha etc. ZoS is in the hot seat. It's time to change gears, dig in, listen/reconnect with your games player base and community or else.
@NiklasRönsch there are still plenty of people online. It’s just not booming right now like it was. It needs some solid changes to bring people back around
I left ESO just after Gold Road launched. Still sad to see though. I have a lot of love for franchise but the writing was on the wall for me well for a while now. It’s why I didn’t renew my subscription. Sometimes you gotta listen to your base. Shame.
The best MMO I've ever played, But my entire guild and myself have stopped playing the game fully earlier this year after 6-7 years of playing. My last year playing I'd seen at least 50-60 people i know leave the game, mostly vets of the game. I do hope to return to it one day when something exciting comes to the game.
Their player base on Steam alone has halfed in the last year. The HORRIBLE PVP update didn't help. They're lost and falling fast. It's sad to see. I wish they would listen to the community. They don't give a fuck and they make it crystal clear far too often.
I have played eso for the last time after 8 years, had some seriously good and funny times in this game especially pvp but all good things must come to an end at some point, met and grouped with some brilliant people over the years but sadly they to will fade to just fond memories over time, sad really.
personally i stopped playing eso because the performance in "my endcontent" which is cyro is so annoying, its unplayable at prime time, which sadly is the time I can play due to my working hours. really sad but I played it far too long with bad performance and its just not enjoyable anymore.
They gutted everything the end game players used and abused. Which were their entrenched player base so they could get new players and then the new players only trickled in whilst the entrenched players left in droves. Slow clap... all they needed to do was buff crafted sets for dungon and easy trial use and buff trial sets to be even better for flawless runs. Things like the sticker book killed the game because it crashed the in game economy and it is still dead... they then doubled down lowering the in game economy on this by making gold Jewlery so easy to get and purple Jewellery irrelevant without buffing the drop rates for purple Jewellery from dolmens etc to reflect their new irrelevance. Slow clap zos... mean while the massive zone houses you need the achievement for to get... already a massive grind you need to spend 3 million gold to purchase... honestly idiocy and greed is what got them to this point not to mention the price hike for the september special on their new zones was $20 aud in 2020 this year it was $35... without a house... why would I bother? No gold to be made, no house and I already have a mount I like and 4600 writ vouchers I don't need crafting benches when I could buy them. I need more bank and bag space you don't see them giving that out or increasing it as they know that is the only reason people pay for plus. The game is run by dumb asses.
Can I please get a little feedback on something from some experienced PvP players? Sorry if this is a little long winded but I'd like to know if I did something wrong. I pushed really hard this campaign for empress. I'm fairly new to pvp. I've been playing ESO for a little over a year now but up until October I was very casual only playing in Cyrodiil a couple of hours a week. In oct something finally clicked for me and i was finally able to get kills and hold my own in a 1v1 more often than not. So naturally i started having more fun and playing the game more. I've become a daily player and now i log in 5hrs a day minimum. I decided i wanted to try healing in Gray Host this campaign because our alliance (DC) seems to be light on healers. I grinded so hard to get to #1 on the leaderboards. I finally got empress yesterday. I slept a total of around 5-6 hours in 3 days just to stay on top. By the time i finally got emp I was exhausted but rather than go to sleep I decided to help my alliance take the map. With my buffed ballistas we were able to take keeps very fast. We took the entire map, collected all scrolls and gated both EP and AD. I was making calls and my alliance was following me, backing me up at keeps and outposts. For the first time in days my alliance was getting kills and having fun in zone chat. We held the map for about 6 hours but eventually red and yellow decided to team up to depose. We held out for another 2 hrs but eventually their numbers were too much and we lost the emp circle. This is where things took a bad turn. I was shocked at how many players were blaming me and just being generally toxic to me. They were saying things like "we need a emp who isn't garbage" or "an emp that can actually get kills" etc. Just an honest question, should i not try to push for emp on a healer? I felt like i was doing good. I was keeping my alliance alive with big heals. I saved us from so many bombs with my templar heal ulti. I'd say at least 20 times the enemy had pulled a big group of my allies into a group for a bomb and i would ulti heal and that bomb would result in 0 deaths and my team would collapse on the enemy. I feel like saving 10 lives is just as important as getting 10 kills. Am i wrong here? Should healers avoid chasing emp? Sorry for the long read and thanks to anyone who took the time. ❤️
Honestly, the dev team tanked this game with their revolving door style approach to ESO. They worry more about catering to new players than retaining loyal ones, ignore player concerns, telling players to suck it up, making ridiculous “balance” changes that catered to new players and just made the game stale and dry, there was no real reward for committing to the game above the casual level, the newer systems and content just felt lazy and shallow, and it truly felt like they did not care about the playerbase. It was always “our way or the highway” unless they REALLY botched it and were threatened by a mob playerbase reaction which would cost them actual dollars. Then they’d half ass a fix and acted like we weren’t appreciative for calling them out and not kissing their asses. Seriously, both on the PvE and PvP side. “We don’t want to spend the money to make any meaningful changes or fixes to the game” because we just can’t be fucked with putting effort into making a good product that doesn’t borderline crash every update. I’m so disappointed in this dev team for ruining something that had the potential to be great to the tune of competing against WoW as one of the best MMOs ever created. So unfortunate.
I stopped playing this game months ago and I started in 2016 nonstop and full PvP, but after this event, this us pretty much all PvP content we will see practically for the years ahead. Sadly, they got out of touch with balance sht soooo bb! Fk it tbh they don't deserve the community they have.
I've played eso from beta. I've played it constantly since then except for about a year break just before the one tamerial update. I've honestly loved my time there. So many friends have come and gone. So many guilds have risen and fallen. Everything from social guilds, to trade guilds to sweaty hard mode raid guilds ive been in them all. I'll always look back fondly. I just feel that the time has come to step away. Would I have loved spell crafting even as it is now and skill styles earlier, absolutely. It would've really helped immersion and allowed me to have even more fun. Now, I feel thats just not enough to hold me. Unfortunately in the last number of months I've found myself making stories up in my head, actually trying to role play, anything to inject a bit of fun back into the game and keep me invested a while longer. Alas, it didn't work. I used to love my weekly raids but real life has taken over, that and it's increasingly difficult to find raid groups for vet and hm content. I used to love my various little groups of 4 where we'd achievement hunt hm no deaths, trifectas. But they too have dried up. For a time pvp was amazing fun and when the servers were fixed I still maintain it was incredible fun. But then it really became pointless due to unbalanced numbers and nightcapping guilds choosing which team would win what month. The state of the game today is the worst it has ever been. It pains me to say it but that is a direct result of the management of the game. The higher ups have told the developers to make a game for everyone. Unfortunately it has become clear that a game for everyone is a game for no one. They either lacked the vision or skill to give each class an actual fighting strategy or "identity". Today every single class has the exact same rotation. They've a nuke, a dot or two and a heal which is based off ever increasing numbers rendering the need for certain roles pointless. Every class feels the exact same barring 1 difference and different colour effects. It has simply become boring. I know that my crystal frags does the same damage as the next classes nuke. I know my dot lasts the same length of time as another classes and does the same damage. Pathetic! This is not how you create a fun game. Pure laziness and lack of risk and ingenuity on the developer part. The everyone the same thing has ruined any chance of fun. I could go on about there now being only 1 or 2 viable item sets per role but the conclusion is the same. The devs/ management lacked ambition and took the easy road of make everything the same it'll cut cost on balancing and development time. It is these decisions which have killed the game. I could also go into the aggressive micro transactions where you buy the latest styles rather than earn them.. you know a reason to actually play a game. Nope now it's log on see what is in the store of that looks cool but I'm not spending 20 bucks for it. Sorry I got off track. I loved this game and my time there but it is now on life support and I'm pulling my plug. Thank you so much for my experience and thank you skinny for hours of entertainment. I wish you the best. This is madgod signing off.
Bethesda is a small company eso give them so much money year after year they just care less about the game they are working in something else and they dont want to spent time on a game who have 10000 things to fix etc this is my honest opinion i used to play a lot eso was my main game i had so good moments with my friends i met a lot of ppl but eso is not the same game since the last 3/4 years i never met a company so bad like bethesda
They need to add new content and quests in the already established base game. There is really no other reason to visit these zones unless you want specific armor or your doing daily endeavors or the new golden pursuits. The game has become stagnant and boring. Perhaps a system where every playthrough is slightly different. I can't begin to understand the mechanics behind what the Devs do, but something has to change.
Pretty sad news! Hopefully we can figure out some other good way to get everyone together
do we really have to be face to face tho? i for one much rather just chill from behind my pc monitor ;)
If I was on PC I would totally be there for whatever you come up with I'm on Xbox but perhaps I can use your idea over there if it's cool with you
@@raafmaat Same tbh 👍🏾
I was concerned that the game was gonna be shutdown with that title, but this year was rather disappointing compared to last year so makes sense that the player count would drop so aggressively
honestly what this means is pvp is never gonna see another update in a long ass time lmao. they tried once, couldnt get it right and now they will never risk this again.
Nah the game will be around for decades lol
@@Turk3y89 they keep weak skills/sets weak and refuse to nerf op ones
there are many fun ways you could play the game but if it's not one of the few sets/skills actually strong there will be an abyss in difference
like for example compare any proc damage set for DPS to pillar or nirn, several sets have way more conditional proc conditions yet they do way less damage...and this has been the case since forever it's not a new thing
@@andrealasorte7747 what really killed the game for me was way back in the day when the “One Tameriel” update released. Before that questing had challenge to it. After the level scaling was released questing became mindless.

💯
Literally today I got a popup on steam telling me that my ESO+ has officially run out since I stopped the auto renewal. And today will be the 1st time in years I will not launch ESO (not even for the dailies).
Mine ends in January. I didn't renew. 1st time since 2015.
Yup cancelled my eso+ plus as well last month. I hop on play a few bgs like once a week and hop off. Game is in a horrible place
Me stopping Rainbow Six Siege was one of the best gaming decisions I've made. Let go of any sunk cost fallacy you may have. You're better off. Go play some better games.
Same. 10+ year player. Didn't renew ESO+ either. The writing is on the wall, so to speak.
I left last year… one of the hardest things ive done. I still watch skinny cheeks and keep up on patch notes for some reason, eso just aint getting it right
Technically, they doing it to themselves

15 million a month and we get peanuts for updates. Overwhelming Homogenization and bugs. "New" servers worse than the old ones somehow... But if you want to $50 bucks for a reskinned 2003 matriarch pet model, now with more red mist... lucky you. Want a $70 fake house, good news stupid's, this is the game for you. If you want less bugs, responsive controls and servers - look elsewhere. The audacity to cancel things like this and claim money issues. I was not a fan of zos nor was I going to this event, but fk them forever.
Your pain in palpable.
Dev team really ran this game into the ground post Elsweyr.
That's a matter of perspective, I've have enjoyed it up till now. And it's only gotten better.
blackwood was pretty cool, necrom was nice, west weald is cool too i think , and wasnt western skyrim also after elsweyr? whats not to like? yeah the PVP.... who cares about the PVP lol
More like watching your friend's life fall apart from making one bad decision after another. This was avoidable.
so real
The worst part is, there is a cure for example employing someone like Skinny Cheeks but instead they're just gonna lets ESO die.
The profits are being used for other projects.

all-time peak and only 6k players in the last 24 hours also only averages about 150 live views on twitch it's been known to be a huge flop the production cost was a little over $400 million dollars and it only made $657 million in sales and they have already stated it won't make it longer than 10 years before it shuts down all together because players were turned off by lighter RPG systems, a voiced protagonist, and writing that just wasn't as witty or pointed in its satire as its predecessors HUGE FLOP
Dude, when I read that title I thought it was something serious.
it is very telling by canceling this literally in North America, they're down bad and this exposed it.
this is serious for a lot of people who have been looking forward to this for a long time!
@@skinnycheeks Our whole guild was planning to get together. This is rather disappointing.
I’m pretty sure that a massive sign that a 10+ years old game is hemorrhaging is pretty serious. What are you even talking about? If they remain on this trend then they WILL shut the doors on ESO to shift assets to their new project.

Revert the arcanist nerfs
Bring the original necro back before the nerfs
Add 2 more characters to the game.

@Sorcnado sorry bud
Having the ZOS name tied to it will assure its failure at launch
@@lt.danicecream don't think Bethesda is using ZOS on this one.

I play and will always play as long as the game is up

You guys do you. As long as you are still finding enjoyment, keep playing until the server is shut down.
For them to do this tells you all you need to know about the financial health of the game. Maintenance mode incoming.
I miss 2017 eso more and more as time goes by
This is so felt.
Comming here to check up on the state of the game , been on break for about 2 months and so far i havent been missing eso very much
It's a damn shame. It really is.
The ESO family... Typical corporate red flag.
Zos listen to fans or players not happening😂😂
Truly saddened at this, as I'd been looking forward to a NA event that I could perhaps make it to. :(

Given how unbelievably broken and unplayable the game was for psna while the devs were partying in Amsterdam, this is the best news.
As they should if studios want to treat us like crap and blame us for their own mistakes. Then they gotta go.
@sacredpower7530 absolutely!

Sounds like the game is going into maintenance mode
I got actioned on the forums for saying exactly that. I am now trying to cancel my forums account. I think I'm about to quit playing entirely.
Not really. It's a huge cash cow for Microsoft.
Back in the day oakensoul was endgame mythic pre nerf 😂
We all knew they didn’t play their own game and it finally came fully to light. The game will probably just bleed at this point.
Warhammer TW 3 and PoE2 all the way!
Well, apparently

This game has hit rock bottom and have shown signs of starting to dig. The management team would be out of their depth in a parking lot puddle. The developers have delusions of adequacy. The audience now only follows this game out of morbid curiosity.

Beginning of the end?
The beginning of the end has already passed mate. The death rattle started 18 month ago
I spent around $1000 in path of exile and spent a really low amount in ESO since release, gambling is a big nono
Would all those nerfs, looks like they nerfed their bank account as well. I wonder if these idiots will actually get fired, hire some individuals that will actually balance out the game and buff it up some.
Game peaked with summerset
This video sums up my feeling on pvp and eso as a whole. You have done a GREAT job with eso. You will do great with whatever you decide to do.
This is tough to hear. I was planning on going to this one. Hope this isn't the writing on the wall...
Sucks. I’m new to the game and I love it. But it feels so dead. Idk what Zenimax needs to do to get people back.
Maybe banning content creators that' are super passionate about the game we all love was indeed a bad call😂
With new world and throne and liberty out on console it's only normal that the player base of eso dropped sadly
real talk. I type in world chat on Thrones and find that many of the players ditched ESO for Thrones.
@@mobstarhipstar3403 im one of them lol, quit eso and uninstalled the day it came out
I am back on WOW will come back to ESO when they have a new Chapter out. Atm I just log in and get the rewards
They did it to them selves. I gave up 3 months ago, and have no intension of returning.
you reap what you sow. not suprised.
Downloaded the game again, logged in for 5 mins and I was done. That magic feeling is gone, and all I have is a stale one😑
Or else they will crash and burn
So is it not worth it to start playing the game ? Don’t want to start it when in a few months or so no one is playing it anymore
I play it every day and always will ☺️
Same
Their player base on Steam alone has halfed in the last year.
I guess what I'm hearing is there's no point in me downloading the game and getting back into it
I've played eso from beta.
Bye then
Bethesda is a small company eso give them so much money year after year they just care less about the game they are working in something else and they dont want to spent time on a game who have 10000 things to fix etc this is my honest opinion i used to play a lot eso was my main game i had so good moments with my friends i met a lot of ppl but eso is not the same game since the last 3/4 years i never met a company so bad like bethesda
