What brand of soft plastic was that? I haven't came across any of those thin, sleek looking paddle tails. I usually use the thicker paddle tails with pretty good success.
Derek ive been a fan for a long time and I love your channel!!! I hVe a few questions about walleye, how do you know what areas of a river is gonna be good on google maps? Also what are some good to lures I should use for walleye. Love your content keep doing what you’re doing!!!!!!
I’m not the best at walleye fishing with anything other than jerkbaits sometimes paddle tails. When it comes to finding spots on maps if you look closely at the waters you can kinda see where it gets deep and shallow you want to hit those deep holes.
i almost always relate to current, throw paddle tail swimbaits with an 1/8-1/4 ounce depending on current. walleye are predators so they’ll almost always relate to baitfish, if you can’t find any bait fishing rip rap, current seams, spillways and dams are high probability spots. but most importantly patience, they are one of the hardest fish to catch in the midwest and are very picky, but if you get on a hot bite like derek and i have recently it can be a blast.
I almost always look for bends in the river or rifle sections that lead into a deeper hole. My all around go to walleye bait in a 1/8 oz jig and 3” natural colored trailer depending on water clarity.
Nice, I used to fish up in NE Iowa when my dad was alive, we have cabins near Harper’s ferry and family from Decorah, Postville area
Very nice.
Let’s see how many people ask where exactly you were fishing 🤣
Nothing better than fall walleye! I’m from NE Iowa and fish the Cedar, Iowa, and Maquoketa. What are your favorites to fish?
