Noel Gallagher wrote all of the Oasis songs, but usually, his brother Liam would sing them. For example, there were just a few songs like this one where Noel would sing lead vocals instead.
This song is a classic.
Liam wrote this song for his first love who could not handle him being a pop star she told him they had to split but she then said DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER .

I don’t get why so many people like this version.
There are so much more better sounding versions from both of his oasis days and high flying bird days.
With noel on electric guitar, or adding strings or choir. Better instrumentation and richer sounds.
I'd have thought the reason for so many people loving this version would be pretty obvious. It has much less to do with the instrumentation or any other technically different aspects of this version. It's purely down to the huge emotional impact delivered by the audience participation. If you can't see that I don't know what to say. And you've got a point; there are 'better' versions out there. Each to his own though. No disrespect intended.
