Man...if only they would of committed to that I would of liked it better I see the old Super Mario Bros live action movie a sequel to the Cartoon and not the games
First they confirmed the cartoon to be non-canon to the original timeline, yet they’re reusing elements, gags, and deep cut references from the cartoon into the new sequel! Coincidence? I think *NOT!!!!*
Well, it makes sense that they'd reuse elements of the animated series since Tim Burton developed the series, and I believe he was a producer on it as well.
It's more likely that the lazy writers we have in Hollywood nowadays struggled so hard to come up with anything interesting, they resorted to stealing ideas from the cartoon in hopes that no one would notice.
Tim Burton was Executive Producer for the cartoon and was very hands-on in its development, so it’s not a big coincidence that things lined up like that.
I’m glad they referenced the show because it proves it’s not forgotten and the writers were fans of it. I always wanted the second movie to borrow more elements to the cartoon and was very satisfied. In the same way Ghostbusters II was a live action adaptation of The Real Ghostbusters.
NO BC ITS LITERWLLY A MASH UP OF THE ORIGINAL MOVIE, THE CARTOON AND THE MUSICAL!! The whole thing with the dead teen and he was like “ …I can take you to see your Dad..” had Dead Mom from the musical playing in my head
My favourite part of the entire movie was the way they handled Charles Deetz's absence. If you didn't know, Jeffrey Jones, (the actor who played him), got charged with soliciting a minor to pose for nudes in 2003. Obviously he wasn't invited back for the sequel, so what did Burton and company do? They killed him off in the most ridiculous way imaginable, with you not even being able to see his face in the afterlife. Not to mention, his grave stone reads "Husband, Father, Bird Watcher". That last one being an obvious reference to the actor's controversy. It's a very funny work around
0:08 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 wait which episode did he actually do that!!!!!!!! The fact that Tim Burton put a lot of thought into this movie and put in jokes from the cartoon and brought them to life showing not only does he love this franchise but the character himself, and I am so happy he did🤩🤩🤩🤩
ngl I’ve actually watched the movie in cinema with my parents, just because the trailer had that cartoon-ish vibe from the old tv series 😅 what a nostalgia trip indeed!
if i had a nickel for every time a sequel to a supernatural comedy referenced an animated series, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.
The fact that the sequel feels so much like the cartoon makes me SO HAPPY! I grew up with the cartoon and it felt like it was made for ME! I also loved that Beetlejuice and Lydia spent more time together, but I wanted more!!! I ship them so much ❤
yeah tbh I think beetlejuice (was still insane) but much more tame at the same time? sappier? like easier to sympathise with which in turn made him more similiar to cartoon version than first movie
I mean, this time around Beetlejuice is nicer to Lydia and it turns out he genuinely cares about her instead of just trying marry her to get out of the netherworld.
I don't know if the references were intentional or not, but its not a live action remake. Its a direct sequel to the first movie which came first way before the cartoon even did.
@@spikermonsteri think they mean that this is not a direct first live action remake since there was already a movie made BEFORE the cartoon. Beetlejuice was actually a movie at first.

i actually had to leave out a few clips so i could sync up everything to the music, but doors leading to the sandworm planet are in the original. it's true that we don't see those doors in the afterlife segments but then again those segments were pretty short compared to the sequel. i was trying avoid callbacks and comparisons to things from the first movie with this one
@@spikermonster I get it but in the cartoon version Beetlejuice himself didn't pay attention of the warning signs around the door where is leads him to the sandworms (That's all I'm saying)

Também né, pelo que sei a animação foi praticamente uma compilação de ideias rejeitadas para uma continuação do filme 1988, então eu acredito que o Tim Burton tenha trazido de volta algumas ideias com base na animação
Well, knowing that Tim Burton was involved with the show would make sense that there are some subtle references from the cartoon into the second movie and the writers for the Wednesday show must like the musical at least they have subtle references to that as well, especially since that’s the whole reason why Beetlejuice Beetlejuice made a lot of money. A lot of us grew up watching the animated show after watching the first movie and then also supported the musical part was that we didn’t get anyone from the cast
I love that if you didn’t know anything about Beetlejuice, you could actually think that the movie was a live action remake of the cartoon

Tim Burton was Executive Producer for the cartoon and was very hands-on in its development, so it’s not a big coincidence that things lined up like that.
Adding these references to the cartoon in the movie was probably the best thing they could have done for an adaptation.

The sequel is basically a remake of the cartoon.
I think this just proves how much they nailed the essence of Beetlejuice in the animated series that they would bring the same energy to the screen.
