Tbf these type of videos are the whole reason I found your channel in the first place. The rewatch value of these shorter, informational videos is really high because of how much stuff there is to read through in the books. They really help people who have a hard time reading walls of text.
Fun fact: Casting your Tengu Innate spells through your Tengu Feather Fan allows you to use your Class DC in place of the Spell's DC. This means that if the hypothetical Dogtooth Fighter took the Feather Fan Feat and used it to cast Electric Arc, the DC for the spell would scale based off of the fighter's Dexterity/Strength. Tengus can be literal muscle wizards, kinda.
One Toed Hop is amazing. No Reaction and let's you Step (Leap) in Difficult Terrain. Also combine with Powerful Leap to just 5' up and 10' across to jump OVER a small or medium creature. This can be increased further with items and Monk feats.
13:37 the Leap from one toed hop brings you 5ft horizontally without triggering reactions like attack of opportunity. Basically it is like the step action, but you can use it even when normally you could not use the step action.
I'd say on average for myself, i rewatch one of your ancestry videos every other week, and at least every other month i get a hankering and binge all of them. While i first found you for your making XP to level 3 'guide', I stuck around for your class and ancestry guides. I adore how you present the information and how excited you get. Its because of you that i got into Pathfinder in the first place.
Just to pile on everyone else's comments about how enjoyable these "classic" ancestry type videos are, they really are nice to watch and I think are iconic to your channel. As great as channel growth and improvement is, it's also really cool to see that you're making the same content when I first found your vids around 1-2k subs until 50k+ now, just with more polish, but never more bells and whistles than necessary. Keep doing what you do!
The Tengu fan is something I’ve been wanting to do something with, since it’s a case of a martial being able to use electric arc with their full martial proficiency which is fun.

YO!!!! YES! I'm so excited for the return of Ancestry and Archetype guides! While it's available on AoN to read, it's nice to have someone talk me through it. These are the kinds of videos I'll be sending new players to when they're looking at choosing different character features and coming back to myself for years to come!
I'm really happy you're starting this series up and I love the introspection and look at the way that these videos effect your channel. A lot of youtube culture is blinded by the first 24 hours and really neglect information that can stay consistently useful over long amounts of time in favor of algorithm chasing content that is quickly pushed out to a ton of people (Nothing wrong with that type of content at all btw, it's how the site works and that's okie). So having videos that do well long term does a lot to help the ttrpg community find resources for things that confuse them without having to dig through the books
The key thing with the Tengu weapon feet. It's Common Advanced Swords. Which is only the Falcata. Ironically Human can't take the Falcata because it's Common and the feat says Uncommon . Yes, I've had the GM who is specific about it.
We use 10ft by 10ft seek rules for finding hidden/invisible enemies while in combat. "You heard a noise, you get the feeling you're not alone in the warehouse." "I'd like to walk tover to the crates and use 1 actions to seek the 10x10 area with a readied attack action." "You don't find anything by the crates." *The enemy now gets their turn, they do sneaky things* "It's your turn again, would you like to seek in another area?"
0:17 - "And I'm actually going to remember to put the time code here this time" And yet... >D "Because they went somewhere they shouldn't... And they triggered the trap... Of an Archdruid... They turned into squirrels...." Yup, sometimes it do be like that.
For the people curious about the benefit of the 15 feet seek, instead of 10 feet. In combat if you are fighting a invisible or really well "hidden" creature it helps to finding it in a wider range. But to be honest is very rare for creatures to be able to do this
7:40, yes I use this rule, especially in a dungeon or similar situation. I like to encourage my players to pay attention to their actions, choosing where they are searching carefully, listening for danger at specific doors. After coming from 5e where everything was very lackadaisical and players sort of generalised their actions and assumed I'd make it work. I made sure to run PF2e as written, my players know I'm doing this, to break bad habits set by 5e.
for scavenger's search, if i was dming, i would probably use it rules as written during combat but give the player advantage on rolls to seek out of combat
I'd probably say the 10-foot square limit on Seeking for objects is only for when time is at a premium or if you're looking for like, a knife on a table or something. If you want to look through an entire room, that's what the Search or Investigate activities are for, Seek is just a quick scan to see if anything stands out.
Fun fact about Taloned Tengu: it's an agile unarmed attack that isn't inherently nonlethal, so non-monk non-martial artist characters have a built-in unarmed agile option that can kill.
yeah nonat these are the vid that brought to your channel to begin with and class builds and i would love to see more archtypes vids and maybe starfinder. also would love to see other ttrpgs explored on your channel.
Nonat seeing two additional cantrips as a level two class feat: :/ Nonat seeing one predetermined cantrip which always uses charisma as a level one ancestry feat: :O
At least how I've done it, seek is something you do in combat, mostly against undetected or invisible foes. Searching a room wouldnt be seeking, but we had a fun fight with an invisible enemy a while back and our investigator got some use out of his cracked perception guessing roughly where the enemy was based on what had happened and rolling seeks to check so the party could target him
Seeking in combat is for if an enemy becomes undetected, or if there are snares, things like that. An invisible enemy that can roll stealth competently makes it important! I mostly know the rule for when my players are invisible, in fairness.
I just love the fact that Tengu have this weird eastern connection with the tengu human form, the oni form, and the weird sword mastery stuff they have going on. The birds have such good flavor, DnD ain't got shit on my birds. (Can't talk, pfah.)
Intersting video. I was not aware of the series. I usually have issues grasping ancestries so I will probably go through the list. A few remarks: 4:13 That is basically "Arrest a Fall", minus the normal reaction cost. 5:30 I am really confused about those Ancestry Attacks. It seems like they think having 1D4 S/P instead of 1D4 Bludgeon is a _advantage_ somehow? But it realy is not in the game. Resistances and Vulnerabilities simply do not work out that. Either the damage type does not mater - or Bludgeon is the best option for 95% of cases when it does mater. So any 1D4 Agile will be worthless compared to the Fist. 9:56 Nope, you are not crazy. None of them work that way. Only Tengu do. They are definitely not "birds of a feather". However, "Common Advanced" Swords is 2 swords as of Treasure Vault. So unless the campaign overwrites rarity of some weapons, it does nearly nothing. 10:21 Creatures would still have 5 fire Resistance, however. 16:49 You can simply say "Scaling Weapon Proficiency". Because it is "Expert or Greater", so it scales from then on.
Ohh I'm so glad you're doing these again! My first ever Pathfinder 2e game is coming up soon and I'll be playing a redeemer champion Poppet, so hopefully you get to that ancestry eventually!
The Seek Rules become important in combat, when someone might be Invisible 4th with Swift Sneak, so they could be anywhere within ~25' of their Hidden.
So, I'm actually playing a tengu bard in a kingmaker campaign and I dunno if it's RAW, but I actually used Eat Fortune to kill a party members hero point reroll cause it was gonna cause a crit fail diplomacy check.

17:25 imagine your fighting a tengu, you have trained all you life with your rapiar ready to skewer this brawler and they rip the weapon from your hands with brute force takes a few practice swings in front of you and then start stabbing you faster then you could ever dream while coting the weapon in lighting.
There has been a small influx of humans being adopted by tengus after players realize that Tengu weapon familiarity grants martials training with falcata (fatal d12) and nodachi (deadly d12 and reach). Still nowhere as popular as the Golarian gnomish orphanage for humans though.
If you've lost track of a creature (so undetected, but not unnoticed), you have to use Seek to find them, and in that situation I would absolutely enforce the area limits that they're searching.
16:49 - I think Tengu Weapon Expertise might be kinda useless. The wording on Tengu Weapon Familiarity is noticeably different from its equivalents for other ancestries.
