Congrats on ur big hunt Chris! Just recently picked up my first bow and got into archery and bow hunting from watching you, been a rifle hunter my whole life. Gotta say I’ve learned so much from you’re videos, hunting and archery as a whole. starting my birthday is opening archery turkey in April! Gonna go after a bday turkey for first bow hunt! Its crazy how deer weights are so different throughout north america. I am from Sask and our mature deer weight 280 and up. I have killed two that broke the 300 pound mark.

Sometimes you have to go to the gun. Gotta love late muzzleloader season in IA. Have done the same thing many times, having both the bow and the gun with me. I grew up in Eastern IA and now live in IL (hunt both). Other than the rut, it is my favorite time of deer season. I don't know what part of the state you are hunting, but right at the end of December the cold and snow moved in and that is when the action picked up for myself in N IL and the guys I know that were hunting late muzzleloader in in E IA. Personally, I love sitting out in sub zero temps on a bright sunny morning/afternoon with fresh snow on the ground. That cold usually gets the deer on their feet during daylight and wanting to feed. Keep up the great videos- you and the girlfriend. I just watched a few of her videos that she posted. She is my 14 year old daughter's hero.

Early in the vid I saw you setting your Hinge in silent mode-I have a remedy to keep mine quiet-try using those itty bitty rubber bands people use for braids and pony tails wrapped around the head! Works great!

Congrats....! I've thumped a handful of critters with a muzzleloader. It's one hell of a ride. Got back into archery in 2020... Tried my hand at Bandlands ND hunting.. almost made it happen. Regardless of filling a tag or getting skunked, it makes me feel like a kid again. That in itself is priceless.
