@@utopiasnow I just wanted to check and see if you were ok. Been a while since you uploaded and many of us are concerned. Just hope you are busy with work and editing for a massive upload LOL.
Excellent work here, sir. I stumbled across your videos and spent three hours last night viewing with rapt attention. The pace is fast, but you kept me engaged the entire time. I have the flying skills, but not the mechanical nor systems knowledge you have, so I’m learning the entire time. Love the family shots too!
I dig the conversations in the airplane while you’re flying, I think a lot of people do that. Nice to hear that thought process. The family touch through these vids is appreciated too. Keeps it human. 🤙🤠🤙
I admire your candor and humility, as demonstrated by your sharing these experiences in such detail-- and by your admitting you often question the course you chose, later. I respect this. IMO the only way to avoid ever making a questionable choice is to stay on your couch all day and do nothing. None of us are perfect and the environment, machines, materials and circumstances we operate in/with are sometimes unforgiving. But I refuse to sit cautiously on the couch, in fear of making a mistake. Elliot, my Brother, You Rock!
When you say, at the end, "You and I, both, will do better next time." This is absolutely unequivocally true. I have learned a great deal from your videos and upped my game because of the lessons you provide....the fact that you go into great depth and you include the bad with the good.
The tail wheel door failure would likely not be a catastrophic failure and wouldn’t bring down the plane. It has came off in a prior video and was not anything bad… I think he made the right choice to isolate the hydraulics and go gear down.
@@c1ph3rpunk yeah for sure, being a pilot myself I wouldn’t be caught dead flying most things Elliot flies… but each has their own process and risk assessment based on their experience. He has more experience than I’ll ever have! He did make the right call, cause it worked out well.
Hi Elliott hope you're doing well. Hope to see you posting video's again. Your channel has the potential to become a big one. Hope you come back to the enter webs again soon.
One of my favorite channels. I love that we live in a time where you can share this with people across the globe. Again, you are gifted with being able to speak about technical issues in a way that is not at all confusing. I love airplanes, so I have some knowledge, but most of this should be over my head. With you explaining, it isn't. Stay safe.
Dang, man. I really dig how you call balls and strikes, no matter who is swinging the bat...including yourself. You let it all hang out...trouble shooting 101. You can't fix any problem unless you know everything about the problem. It's not about blame. It's about solutions. Thanks for sharing what you do.
Thanks for the kind comment. I hope we effectively communicate that these are hard jobs and if nothing else we are here to put forth our best efforts in the interest of supporting the customers goal. Thanks again
Kid of catching up. watched this one with a smile. last four days a friend and I took some PTO from flight test and went and got his "rebuildable" Comanche 400 and ferried it back to Seattle Everyday is an adventure :) fly safe
Your insight and knowledge concerning these types of flights and aircraft is fascinating! I really enjoy learning from your experiences. Thank you for sharing with the rest of us!
Gotta say that most FBO's I've been too, especially those out in God's country, are fantastic!!! The owner/operators are terrific and will go wayyy above and beyond to help a fellow aviator!!! The local FBO where I learned to fly back in the 90's, (KMRN in western NC), was run by a real life rocket scientist who had had enough of the NASA BS after the shuttle accident in 86(?). He would do anything he could to help out a pilot in need!! I once saw him take 2 pilots (who had stopped in to get cheap JetA) to KCLT as the Kingair they were flying had bearing issues, (which he noticed as the engines were spooling down), and any flight made without repairs could have seen that prop detach from the engine!! Glad you made it safely back to your wonderful family!!! Safe travels sir :-)
Wonder if the video before this caused him to go dark... the P51 kit plane that rolled off the runway when the main gear collapsed on one side, the Lady Elaine.
There is probably a scary level of expense associated with a program like this, but I have no doubt that this will be an amazing airplane by the time you sign off on it, assuming the owner corrects items you found. In watching a lot of different aviation content, it definitely seems to be true that aircraft bring a set of negatives corresponding to their positives, and that ignoring these ends in problems of varying seriousness. Your wife was absolutely correct. It’s better to be a little scared of something, that way you respect the possible negatives enough to think them through, even as your brain says “Turbine powered fighter replica!! That looks like fun!!😛🤩”. Love the videos.👍🏼
So good and so professional. Loved the lessons learned and risk analysis...."get to see my family when the mission is safely completed." Well edited, Elliot.
operating these "Mustangs" is really a challenge it appears. i wonder if the owners will ever sort them out well enough to operate them reliably. great video again. thanks Elliot!
Hey Elliot, just wanted to pop in to say happy holidays and I miss your videos. Hope everything (airplanes and otherwise) is going well for your family.
What in the H E double Hockey Sticks Elliot? I’ve been binge watching your epic channel, and you have not put out a video in nearly a year. I know Family & Work can consume the day away, but please for god sake, grace us all with another insightful video. 🙏🏼
Great video (as always) sharing your decision-making process, workarounds, and possible consequences. Takes me back to a lot of years of supporting F-16 and F-35 flight test at Edwards, Eglin, and Pax River where it seemed 50% of the work was considering all the things that could go wrong and how to get around them if they did.
Phew! What a trial that was. Really very interesting to watch you cope so cooly with one problem after another… I lusted after the Long nosed Thunder during episode 1 and had an overwhelming pity for the owner by end of play here in episode 4! I have subscribed and look forward to seeing you suffer … no, no, no, to watch your seriously professional attitude in future.
Coming in under the cover of darkness the tower asks him "what kind of airplane is that?" I'd be tempted to say "Its Classified"...LOL. Good to see the final couple hops were uneventful.
Elliot, your a true ambassador of cool airplanes! Missed you at #OSH2021 at the @MethodSeven booth, was there but was busy everyday you were there. Too many cool airplanes to look at LOL! Keep up the good content, keep up the good work! ✈️ R 😎
Another thought… 💭 after watching through the entire video. I liked the additional editing with labeling most of the switches and knobs that you flick quickly that effort was worth it for me!
Another great video. Glad you closed this file. I recently purchased a Glasair III and though it's rock solid, there are so many areas to pay attention to as the airplane is learned -- your vids enhance my own thoughts and prep when flying the GIII.
