I agree with some of your takes.
    1) Yes the latest line up caters more towards those who have established careers and retirees. But also remember, Florida is the mecca of all boat and PWC sales. Florida is also where people have money and retirees.
    2) I agree Yamaha saw the spark sales and wanted to jump into that demographic, but like you mentioned I believe they priced themselves out of that entry level demographic because they are not the cheapest option for entry level jetskies.
    3) I think you're ignoring the GTI model. It's that in-between choice from entry level to the fish scout. You can use it for fun and for fishing.
    4) The GTX Limited now feels like an actual prestige model and the colours are not bad.
    5) The switch Fish looks great (we knew this was eventually coming) and is still a cheaper choice then a small fishing boat and the colour isn't bad. Camo green always looks good on a fishing boat. I think the switch fish comes at the lowest length of 18 because you need room to cast and store the trolling motor as well have room away from the Bimini.
    6) I believe the new spark lineup will be next year or the year after because they just announced the new look of the spark for 2024 and wanted to focus on the other models.
All in all the reveals are targeted to the growing fishing sector and it's just another option to their fishing lineup. And as we know, with great fishing features comes great fishing costs. The GTX was suppose to be the new fun on the water entry and I think we'll see the new spark(s) lineup in the next year or 2. There's no hurry simply because the spark still outsells everything out there...but now it will have competition from Yamaha which will force Seadoo now to compete more heavily in the rec lite market.

I just "bought" myself a 24 jet blaster after having my first ski a 98 seadoo XP limited(130hp 2 stroke 🥴). One of the funnest things I've ever bought. Unfortunately with the age the reliability was very questionable on the water so I ended up getting the blaster closest thing I can get that was still all fiberglass hoping it lasts for many years. I think they're going bigger with skis because of the emissions regulations just like on regular cars. Cars used to be so small back then now. small cars now are big cars back then

So my question as a prospective first-time PWC buyer is: does the 2025 Yamaha JetBlaster Pro merit the $2,000 price premium over the Sea Doo Spark Trixx? That's a pretty good chunk of change. What are you getting for that money? Fiberglass hull. More power (canceled out by more weight). Nicer LCD display. Anything else?
I do wish the Pro came in the colorway of the DLX. Love that red/white/blue combo. Love the aqua color on the Pro hull but I'm not super hot on the pale yellow top deck. Even in the Eighties I would have said no thanks to that. Wish they offered two color options.
Also that new beige (mud, sand, clay, bandaid) + blue on the 2025 Trixx is an abomination. What's next, Realtree Camo?

    • @WeTryMotorsports
      @WeTryMotorsports  18 днів тому

      These are great questions actually.
      1. You're getting the TR1 motor in the Yamaha vs the Rotax 900 motor in the Sea doo. Many people (me included) believe the TR1 motor to be more reliable and have higher horsepower output available than the 900 HO. The 900 can be tuned to 110 reliably, and 120 kind of sketchy. The TR1 however can be tuned to a potential 150 without too much wear. Reliably it can be tuned to 130 with minimal wear. Think of it as a higher potential for power output, which is MUCH needed out of a ski of this size. The Spark basically has the maximum output of power for the entry of the Blaster. Sea doo has long been dragging their feet with installing the 1630 motor in the spark, and this is where they are going to suffer a large blow.
      2. The fiberglass lower half is the big ticket item here. This is were a lot of Sea Doo haters hold their contemp. While it's mostly nonsense, it DOES still offer a higher quality ride in chop and through the rough and tumble. It DOES come with its downfalls - weight. Will that suffer the fun factor? Not sure, I haven't been on one yet.
      3. The LCD screen is a null issue for me, I'm hardly ever admiring a watch or tablet while I'm on the water.
      4. I also wish they offered more colors, but I'm assuming that's in the works for the next few years for Yamaha. They just released this line, so I'm assuming this is going to be a while, so sit back and watch the colors fly over the next few years. Sea doo will release colors every year, as they had done in the past.
      5. The BIGGEST question is HOW will Sea Doo react to this release from Yamaha? Well the real answer is we'll have to see if they even care. They should, especially if Yamaha dropped the price an additional grand, that'd mark the grave for the Spark. IF Sea Doo releases the 1630 Spark, now we have competition again.
You're going to be happy pretty much with anything, but I would stay FAR away from a 2024 / 2025 Spark, you'll be incredibly pissed when they come out with the new motor jump. The JetBlaster on the other hand, that's going to be in production for at least a few years. I'd say that would be my next choice.... but Sea Doo will respond next year.

It creates a lot of problems and this is coming from somebody that has worked on BRP SeaDoo’s for 30 years. I think if Sea-Doo makes the 1630 spark, it SHOULD have a fiberglass bottom deck though. the entry point will be above 10k at that point though. affordability will be gone but the diehards who want the spark x will purchase it regardless. again good points but I don't believe plastic is necessarily a problem. just the entry point for price, which I do agree with. Exactly, sea doo has lost touch with reality. Sea Doo always has been an aggressively priced company, but they lost their vision in favor of greed. They need to go back to basics. The switch compact was SUPPOSED to beat out every other "boat" in the category. 2022 model year was 18000. 2025 model year is 24000. it doesn't make any sense. BUT the out the door fees with freight, shipping, and others is insane. there are literally switch units sitting on the showroom floor for the 2023 and 2024 model years. they need to figure out the general public is not going to spend 40 grand on a boat. 25 maybe, not 40. the fees are getting outrageous. It's a niche market as it is, now it's out of range for people entering the market.
