    Great vid, subscribed. I fish out of Freeport. One suggestion I would make with a worried wife and also if you value your life. Get a Garmin mini inReach. It is a satellite text messenger that tracks your location. It can send live updates to your wife or with a text message you send. Will work anywhere on the ocean. And most importantly, it has a SOS button that you can hit and rescue will come if things go south. I also carry a PLB to call for rescue as a backup. I wouldn't go on the ocean or anywhere remote without them. They are life savers.

    INTERESTING! I also got stranded, on my GTX 300 Limited, and the iDF was the cause...it got jammed and wouldnt go back into gear. It was February in the UK, so proper cold, but lucky I was wearing a drysuit and had plenty of water, and battery on my phone. Also plenty of battery power on the ski so I could listen to music as I was being dragged out to sea. I called a mate to come and get me in his boat, but I had drifted 3 miles by the time he got to me and fog started to set in. I was very lucky indeed, but as for the iDF, I would never buy another ski with it. Thanks for your video though, it was informative

    Dig what you are doing. You have heart. Ignore the nay sayers. Thank you for getting out there and trying new things. You’re not afraid to get out there and try and learn. It will pay off ten fold later on, and you are inspiring others to get off the couch and go fishing. Great job man. God bless!

    Hey, sir! Great video. I fish from a 2023 wake pro 230 (crazy, right?!) I’ve learned that all you need are 2 poles, nothing more than 6’6, otherwise it gets cumbersome. I use Penn Battle 3 (one 4500 and one 6000 and heavy rod). I have to be deliberate with what I bring. Don’t be afraid to move around on the ski, they’re like water tanks!

  • @420Gamble

    Hopefully fishing off a ski isnt as hard as you make it look. Why not turn the ski off when you hookup to a fish and focus on the catch? Nice seadoo and good job!

    • @texasbeachbum
      @texasbeachbum  9 місяців тому +2

      Its actually not as hard as I made it look. The currents were strong in the channel and that is why I kept starting it up to make sure I did not end up on the rocks. My first time out so the second time will be better.

    Just an observation.. Are you fishing or riding? I think if you shut’er down and concentrate on one at a time you’ll smooth things out a bit. Trying to do both gives off a “fish out of water” vibe…. I look forward to your progress.

    I don't think I would be fishing with the motor running on a Sea Doo Fish Pro. I just don't see the need to do that. Just keep drifting and resetting like when on my buddies boat out in the bay. Looks like he's fishing in an inlet here, at that point I would just drop anchor and fish that way if the current is way to strong.

    Owned one. Sold it two weeks after I bought it. If you are a bass fisherman or you like to fix inland lakes, lakes with structure......you CANNOT own one of these. It's a jet. It sucks in anything and everything in a reasonable path. No way to stand and fish. Too difficult to follow a fish or to stay behind your lure. The trolling feature is useless. It's a gimmick. No matter what Sea-Doo does, in the end, it's a jet ski with a rod holder and a fish finder. Notice that there are no vidz available where owners are putting it through it's paces in a small lake, or in and around laydowns, tall grass, pads, etc? The only vidz I've ever seen have the owner in the middle of a huge body of water.

    • @TetsuOutdoors
      @TetsuOutdoors Місяць тому +1

      why would you put a boat or seadoo in a puddle in the first place? if you are bass fishing just stand at the banks. no need to buy boats or sea doos for small fish like that.

    I am a 68 year old veteran and I fish on a hobie pro angler. I do not take it out in the ocean and stick on rivers and bays, along coastlines. I have considered a sea-doo, but your initial comments about not knowing how old you are until you get on a jet ski gives me some concern. Am I too old? Should I stick with a boat?

    30 lb mono on the end of your braid with a uni to uni knot. Small hook #1 or 2 and sharp for sheeps. Idk about trolling a 1oz spoon i bet it just rolls back there. Get a halco xrap130 and go between 11 and 13mph. Port a jetty is tough on a ski. Well freaking done. Crawl up underneath and and make sure the braid isnt wrapped around the impellaer. Its thru the grates. Flashlight and a long serrated knife. You showed some major courage!!!!!! That is scarry alone. Find ski buddies. The rigs right out port a to the right are fun (gping towars bob hall) 1 has nice sharks. Looking forward to more

    It looks like we made the same mistakes on our virgin outings. I’m learning. I haven’t lost anything the last 2 outings. However, I have not sucked up any line yet. I m very careful of anything under my EP 230. I’m going to the gulf this weekend for the first time. I have 23 hours and in 2 hours I will do my 2nd service. They say it is not necessary, but I’m doing it anyway. I want my PWC to work.

    You'll get the hang of how your most comfortable fishing on that bad boy. Loving the Seadoo made for fishing also. I'd more so cut the engine while fishing once out at the point I want in order to keep line from getting sucked in. I'd also try to be more seated to the side rather than in the riding position if that makes sense. Pretty good for the 1st time out there and you'll get it mastered.

Yea it's a learning curve but one you can master a few times out. Interesting that you never rent a vessel and make a determination on that experience before spending a lot of money. I recall you did this same thing with the Kayak and the Tent trailer. For what that Sea doo cost you could have purchased a Tracker Grizzly Jon Boat with a covered center console and a platform on the front and back. This is Texas, I cant see anyone using that as an ideal fishing vessel come the dog days of summer with zero shade from the sun. Maybe it will work out for you but as the saying goes a fool and his money are soon parted.
